The reason for the flashback in the GIF is the "Thousand Yard Stare" the Dog is doing a damn good impression of, generally brought on by battle fatigue. At a guess the reason for it being used is because the OP is going 10 times that distance...

You won't regret it. I had only one prior training of only 4 km. At first you may get a little tense, but after your legs numb out all you need is to follow the crowd and enjoy the view.

Do bring something to wipe your sweat though. Sweat drying out on your face and leaving salt behind isn't funny.

I used to live in Edinburgh, Scotland. While there, I signed up for a 10k round the city, then waited for my pack with my number and ChampionChip to arrive. But in the meantime I moved out of the flat my family owned, and moved into the one that I had bought. My brother moved into the one I left.

Flash forward a few months, and I am driving around town on Saturday and notice all the signs for the 10k I forgot I was running the next day. So I call up my brother and ask him if there is a package for me, and he says yes, why don't I come round that night and pick it up. So I head round, and he already has the wine open and suggests I have a glass.

Three bottles later, I stagger home at 1am.

Next morning I wake up late, and run to the starting line, five minutes from my flat to discover that the race started half an hour before. I am the last person to cross the line - they are dismantling it.

So I start my run. I first of all run through the crowd of wheel chair users. Next I run through the crowd of one legged people. Sweat pouring out of me in various flavours of merlot and suvingnon blanc.

I cross the line to the sounds of an Elvis impersonator.

Good times.

Hey, I did 10k a few months back. I had one training day, 2 months before the race. Finished in 1hr and 24 mins, of which I probably lost some time going to the HUGE bathroom line. It'll be tough, but just keep at and DON'T get stuck behind the walkers. They walk even when they're 100m from the finish line! WHHHYYY???

Heck yeh, plus I think a little bit of nerves getting the better of me. It was a long way to the next bathrooms so.... :/

Edit: I should mention it was a 10k run, not a race. Plus, I figured I wasn't going to train much and put myself in the last wave of 'runners' (read: walkers). Overall, I don't think I did too bad and my muscles weren't too sore the next day so I didn't over do it too much trying to keep a good pace.
