If other folks are laying on the punishment aspect too, then flame away. My favorite is attacking them on their own ground: "you mean to tell me that God sees fit to deliver to you a warning, to provide for you a mostly living cautionary tale about the perils of doubting his omnipotence, and you have the audacity to presume that you are safe from his wrath? That you have so mastered grace, are so complete in your perfection that you need not worry? Poor, arrogant you.
