It's a bot and it allows you to find duplicate threads that already have a ton of comments (note it lists the comment quantity) instead of just two comments so you can see relevant upvoted data/fast forward to the good stuff is you are interested in more than looking at just the photo, the bots are super useful, but I think you are speaking more about people who freak out and yes I agree it's not worth freaking out about.

As a photographer and someone who's lived in Ethiopia for over five years, I have to say this is totally real. Yes there's probably one one or two of those guys that stands near 6'. They're in Ethiopians, for sure. And I've personally seen crocs there on the blue Nile in the 16'+ range, so totally believable.
