You're iPhone doesn't run out of battery, it shuts itself off as a precautionary measure to prevent data loss.

It almost always shuts off at 1%

Yes, it knows that it will run out of all battery in seconds so it shuts itself off safely. Repeated hard shut downs are not good for phones, computers, or other electronics. It would be the same thing as unplugging your computer without turning it off every single time.

I understand what you're saying, and I'm not trying to say it isn't true, I'm just trying to explain the point of the post. My iPhone nearly ALWAYS (as in 49/50 times) shuts off just after hitting 1%. The post is my reaction to the rare occasions when it shuts off at 5%. I assume that because of whatever apps I am running, my brightness, whether or not I have service, etc. makes it run out of power more quickly so it has to shut off sooner, but it still catches me off guard, hence the gif. I do appreciate your elaboration though. I was unaware that it was bad for the device to shut it down too much.

No shutting it down is good, just not ripping out the battery. Also, electronic batteries are a weird mix between chemistry and technology so the % is not always perfectly accurate. There are many other variables, too, like you said apps, screen brightness, etc.
