Civil war founded America. Boom! Logic circle!

[–]xdzgor 15 points16 points ago

Atheist!

[–]rahr12341 36 points37 points ago

  1. Atheists cause civil wars

  2. Our nation was founded on a civil war

Therefore

our nation was found by atheists

you mad?

[–]CyberDagger 0 points1 point ago

Wrong premise, right conclusion.

[–]rahr12341 0 points1 point ago

My critical thinking class I believe labels it as a valid yet unsound argument.

[–]CyberDagger 0 points1 point ago

Yep.

No way! He'd never do that!

"Anti-God is Anti-American"

Let me stop you there...

[–]molecularmonkey 13 points14 points ago

Hrrmm, anti-God is treason by his logic... and he's calling atheists lunatics?

[–]Pheeshy 4 points5 points ago

They aren't really logical.

[–]Atomicide 17 points18 points ago

As an Anti-God, Anti-American* British person, this does not apply to me, I cannot be a traitor to these people.

*Note: I'm not entirely Anti-American, it's just if you tried to export people like the one's that make these signs to my country, I would literally boil my tea, mix it with a load of sugar, and throw it in their faces.

[–]abeigor 10 points11 points ago

Don't waste the sugar.

[–]spaceisdeep 6 points7 points ago

Or the tea, or even the water come to that, beat them with a kettle.

[–]kemikiao 5 points6 points ago

And dent a perfectly good kettle? Are you mad?

Just 'tut' at them...WITH FEELING!

[–]spaceisdeep 2 points3 points ago

I keep an old plastic kettle handy in case of Jehovah's witnesses, "oh how kind, two sugars pleaOW OW OW WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?"

[–]yourfrigginguide 3 points4 points ago

What happened to some good old fashioned fisticuffs?

[–]nightwing2024 0 points1 point ago

And ruin a perfectly good fist? I think not.

[–]trekbette 1 point2 points ago

With a finger wag?

[–]spunkymarimba 1 point2 points ago

Kettling.

[–]jaytrade21 0 points1 point ago

Depends on the tea. not off to r/tea

[–]Atomicide 1 point2 points ago

Man, I'm late replying to this, but the sugar is the most crucial part of the plan. I saw it once in a prison documentary, where gentleman with numerous tattoos explained the following:

"You boil water and put a teabag in as though you are making tea, then saturate it with a load of sugar. That way when you throw it in someone's face the sugar causes the mixture to stick to them for maximum damage"

Yeah, it's pretty fucked up, but there was a reason these people were in prison.

[–]abeigor 0 points1 point ago

Hahaha, epic. Worth the sugar in this case!

[–]534seeds 1 point2 points ago

I'd rather export them to Antarctica, where they didn't have anyone to annoy.

[–]trekbette 3 points4 points ago

Nooooooo. Antarctica has cute penguins.

[–]karma_withakay 11 points12 points ago

Placing your imaginary friend above your country is anti-American.

[–]i_love_ratios 10 points11 points ago

To those of you unfamiliar with my state: Most people above the age of 30 have similar views. However, those that are younger tend to be less militant about it. But still, expect to be shot if you are in a rural area and announce your lack of faith/different faith. I live in the second largest city in the state, but an hour drive off a main road, and things get a little bit 'dueling banjo-y'. If you know what I am saying.

[–]catson_pawlick 3 points4 points ago

so, gratuitous amounts of male rapeage?

[–]DZComposer 5 points6 points ago

Squeal like a pig, boy!

[–]crazycalamity 6 points7 points ago

Wasn't it technically treason when the Declaration of Independence was signed?

[–]Sharptastic 5 points6 points ago

As a proud West Virginian and atheist this pissed me off.

[–]inmate655321 2 points3 points ago

WV gets a bad enough rep as it is.

[–]Verim 0 points1 point ago

That's because Charleston sucks. I know this from my vast experience gathered by driving through it once.

[–]MiguelMenendez 0 points1 point ago

Well shit man, you haven't driven over the new bridge. You ain't fuckin' lived til you drive over the new bridge. Morgantown, now there's a shithole.

[–]nightwing2024 0 points1 point ago

I once got pulled over for speeding in West Virginia. He asked why I was in such a rush. I answered "I'm trying to get the hell out of West Virginia, that's why."

[–]cpqarray 5 points6 points ago

I'm sure the solution would be to round-up the immoral atheist and put them in re-education camps.

[–]ihopeirememberthisun 6 points7 points ago

That's a West Virginia address... They'd be more likely to shoot you than reeducate you.

[–]Grindstone50k 2 points3 points ago

What's funny is West Virginia split from Virginia over the civil war. They sided with the Union.

[–]cpqarray 0 points1 point ago

That's a good point.

[–]TheGrapeTheif69[S] 4 points5 points ago

its funny because Abraham Lincoln was Atheist. During the civil war.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

but he got better :-/

[–]shanereid1 2 points3 points ago

his last words where "i need to this relegion like i need a hole in my head"

[–]azripah 0 points1 point ago

... even a shred of evidence, please?

[–]Beatlemaniacjng98 2 points3 points ago

As an anti-American atheist I gustaed.

[–]shave_daddy 2 points3 points ago

the thing that bugs me the most about this billboard is the noun/pronoun disagreement. "attention lunatic athiests and their lawyers"

shit grinds my gears.

[–]face_eater_5000 2 points3 points ago

They believe there's an invisible man, up in the sky (that always seems to need money - GC), and I'm the lunatic?

[–]Nicko147 2 points3 points ago

Love how Atheist gets a capital A.

[–]nightwing2024 0 points1 point ago

...you capitalize adjectives?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

Anti-God is Anti-American

Anti-American is Treason

Traitors lead to Civil War

Civil War leads to hate

Hate leads to anger

anger leads to the Dark Side!

nice knowing you America, you ARE THE EMPIRE!!!!

[–]trekbette 0 points1 point ago

But the dark side has cookies. I really like cookies.

[–]ByahhByahh 2 points3 points ago

I don't think that means what you think it means, Rev.

[–]TierOne 1 point2 points ago

This was posted about a year ago with the title "Civil war leads to freedom". I like the OP better.

[–]QuietNiceGuy 1 point2 points ago

Logical fallacy, post hoc ergo propter hoc. I love when people use these in their arguments.

[–]lankist 1 point2 points ago

Fun fact!

Treason is the only crime detailed explicitly in the U.S. Constitution specifically so people can't be charged with treason by this sort of logic. Treason is arguably the most difficult crime to prove in this country considering it is strictly defined (and set to require insurmountable evidence) in the Constitution itself.

[–]awilli67 1 point2 points ago

It's funny how all five of the atheists in WV just commented on here. There was six but I moved.

[–]tillman1828 1 point2 points ago

I wrote an entire research paper on this in my second year of college for English class. It's actually really interesting on how religion has become intertwined with patriotism.

but that billboard.....man fuck those people.

[–]DarkStar5758 0 points1 point ago

Do you have a copy to post online?

[–]Mabans 1 point2 points ago

This is all I can hear when i read that sign.

[–]ProtoDong 3 points4 points ago

Meh, we won the last Civil war. I'm pretty sure we could win the next one simply by shutting down beer deliveries...

[–]goroncity 5 points6 points ago

Now that is treason.

[–]ProtoDong 1 point2 points ago

"Them damn Yankees used some computer virus thingy to shut down the Budweiser plant... I fear that all is lost. The South will rise again! DAMN YOU YANKEE BASTARDS!"

[–]MiguelMenendez 0 points1 point ago

...said the Belgians and Brazilians.

[–]ProtoDong 0 points1 point ago

In my town roughly 30% of the people are Brazilian... my last two roomates were Brazilian... the guys that smoked me up at the lake on Sunday were Brazilian... I can assure you that the Brazilians would love to fight along side us, provided that a.) they were guaranteed citizenship b.) they could drink awesome microbrews and c.) they could watch soccer

I don't know shit about Belgians other than they make some hoppy ass beer.

[–]MiguelMenendez 0 points1 point ago

Well, they buy lots of breweries.

[–]ElCheffe 1 point2 points ago

"The defining battle of America's second civil war would prove to be the Battle of the Busch, fought on the beer soaked streets of St Louis." -History Channel, 2159.

[–]ProtoDong 0 points1 point ago

"The Sam Adams, Minute Men from Boston joined forces with the Microbrew Militia and put an end to the reign of shitty domestic beer. This gave rise to bootleg suds, a rising problem all over the American south." - -History Channel, 2159.

Anti-Reason is Anti-American

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

the US Government would disagree

[–]MrMadcap 0 points1 point ago

Doesn't make them right.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

i tend not to agree with anything the US Government says recently

[–]SkyrimBoss87 0 points1 point ago

I could not help but laugh when I saw this

[–]XCOMOREOS 0 points1 point ago

Attention: Nutball Christians and their supporters,

Bring it!

[–]stevethejew 0 points1 point ago

Why would he waste money on a billboard like that. Well guys, let these jerk offs waste their time and money on senseless Shit. I can buy many cheeseburgers with that kind of money

[–]SoulSilver 0 points1 point ago

I am okay with this, let the war begin!

[–]DragonTycoon 0 points1 point ago

ah, 'Merica...

[–]basec0m 0 points1 point ago

  1. Atheists don't believe in God.
  2. Atheism is anti-american.
  3. Anti-american is treason.
  4. Treason leads to Civil War.
  5. We will shoot you in the face until you believe in the baby jeeesus.
  6. Black people are not white.
  7. Black people are anti-american.
  8. So on... and so on...

This crazy old codger died in 2006.

[–]yourfrigginguide 0 points1 point ago

Treason and traitors are what founded this country. Checkmate motherfucker.

[–]dt74 0 points1 point ago

Christians Constantly Rail Against All Things Immoral

Atheists Constantly Rail Against All Things Immortal.

[–]pushka 0 points1 point ago

Slippery slope fallacy...

[–]Kman778 0 points1 point ago

says the person why probably has a Dixie flag on their car

[–]DarkStar5758 0 points1 point ago

I sense a fallacy...

[–]Haz_Matt 0 points1 point ago

We are not anti-god. We are anti-stupid.

EDIT: We don't hate any deities. We simply do not believe in their existence. Just in case that "anti-god" part was confusing.

[–]aquietmidnightaffair 0 points1 point ago

Another fictional religion jumped on a different logic train wreck. The difference is that Yoda is adorable.

[–]Sarah-Gregg 0 points1 point ago

I...I'm so glad they finally cleared that up for me! With such clear, infallible logic, too!

[–]CherryGigas 0 points1 point ago

Holy shit, who took this picture? This is 5 miles from where I grew up.

[–]thesmilefactory 0 points1 point ago

Reminds me of those "get rid of cable" commercials.

[–]drmischief 0 points1 point ago

Extreme Christians constantly rail against all things they believe is "immoral". FTFY

[–]forcedtolie 0 points1 point ago

lunatic-atheists? Is that some kind of denomination? Because I was under the impression that atheism wasn't a religion hmmm..

[–]unsureofwhatiwant 0 points1 point ago

I am no more anti-God than I am anti-toothfairy. To be anti-God, I would have to believe in God.

[–]Noxdus 0 points1 point ago

Am i the only one who would welcome a civil war to weed religion out of our countries government and culture?

[–]jwtemp1983 0 points1 point ago

Maybe reddit just doesn't post them, but I can't remember ever seeing a billboard atheists endorsed that proposed civil war.

[–]zeroblahz 0 points1 point ago

I can't be the only one who initially read this as anti-gay is anti-american after seeing all the pro-gay posts :o

[–]rocko_sanchez 0 points1 point ago

I predict that if religion is truly ever stricken from American politics, all the redneck trash WILL uprise with their guns.

Athiest arm yourselves, there will be blood. And those Religious fucks wont play fair either, genocide.

[–]one_of_reddit 0 points1 point ago

fox news is working

[–]Skwerl23 0 points1 point ago

Hateful attacks on others for god/religion is terrorism.

[–]kalimashookdeday -2 points-1 points ago

This is funny to me. How is that not to you? What, all of a sudden your humor stops at making fun of fundies? In all reality, they may be serious, but I still find it hilarious.

Hope you don't slide down that slippery slope!!! Haha.

[–]ProtoDong 4 points5 points ago

It may be mildly amusing to me sitting here in Boston (we won the last Civil War) but if I lived down south, I would find this to be frightening.

[–]meantamrajean 6 points7 points ago

Between this shit and all the anti-Obama (no you don't have to like him, but these assholes right here are talking about guns) propaganda, I'm a little (or A LOT) terrified that I live in the American south.

[–]kalimashookdeday 4 points5 points ago

Having studied much history in my past, I can say many sources I've read still claim that people and culture in the deep south harbor resentment - to this day - about the outcome of the Civil War.

Shelby Foote, who was a prominent historian from Mississippi, recounts a time where he was interviewing a great-relative of the southern war General Nathan Bedford Forrest. Upon conversing, Shelby had mentioned the name, "Mr. Lincoln" in which the great, great, great relative replied after a pause, "You know, we never thought much of Mr. Lincoln in my family." This amazes me.

[–]meantamrajean 1 point2 points ago

They do... The rebel flags are plentiful here in 'murica!

[–]quantum_mechanicAL 1 point2 points ago

You mean the war of the northern aggression?

[–]kalimashookdeday 4 points5 points ago

You mean the war that needed to be fought because the south forgot what the word "union" meant?

FTFY

[–]iamwearingsocks 1 point2 points ago

I think they mean the War of Recent Unpleasantness. Picked that one up in Richmond, VA within the past couple years.
