One of the thigns that always surprises me, is that Christians, or for the sake of not entering an argument, believers, always seem to know exactly who is an atheist. I am an atheist btw

If I take a walk in Copenhagen around noon on any given day, this has happened to me more times than I can count, I just walk aong , looking at windows, enjying the weather. Suddenly two young persons stop me and the first thing they say is:

Hi. Have you thought about giving yourself to Christ?

I always ask them back: What makes you think I haven´t?

Several times I have actually had some very interesting conversations with these polite young believers. So I said to them: Listen, what you are doing is harmless, no one gets hurt and I don´t think many people get insulted either, so you are doing great. However, the first thing you ask me, is if have given myself to Christ. You automatically assume that I need salvation, ie. that I am not a believer. No offense, but how dare you? What is it, in the way I walk, the clothes I wear that gives you the right to single me out as a a non-believer?

I remember one pair, she almost started crying because of this. I had to tell her that I didn´t meant to be a bad person, but in their effort to be as kind as possible, they did the exact opposite. They determined who I was based on how I looked and nothing else.

Now, tell me again: Is that not judging a book by it´s covers? I´ve read the Bible more times than I can remember, because I used to study theology. Not to become a priest, but because it interests me. I singled out specific phrases and sentences, certain scriptures and most of the ones I run into, have to fact check the Bible. It always leaves them confused...
