Saw him outside my work (Times Sq.) a few weeks back. All the construction guys asked him for a "Ayyyy". He did. Cool guy.

Ayyy! That's awesome.

[–]PabbleDabble 21 points22 points ago

It restores my faith the all celebrities aren't garbage when I see fun fandom stuff like this. Very cool.

I wonder how much ass he got by being The Fonz?

[–]riqk 42 points43 points ago

Roughly all of it, I would guess.

[–]blackmetallic 3 points4 points ago

Awesome! My friend ran into him at the airport sometime that week as well, got a pic with him. Very cool.

[–]TrixiDelite 289 points290 points ago

Sorry to be an old relic, but anyone who grew up in the '70s knows that it's spelled, "Aaaaay." Five A's and a Y. I know, because I had a tshirt that only had 4 A's, and the rich kids laughed at me.

[–]SinisterKid 97 points98 points ago

Only 70s kids will understand.

[–]Numbajuan 7 points8 points ago

Like if you remember this! Only 70s kids do. If u r a 70s kid, and you don't like it, you had a terrible childhood

[–]Varjaar 18 points19 points ago

Ha! You couldn't afford 5 As? I was so rich I had 12!

[–]TrixiDelite 13 points14 points ago

Fucker. You probably went to that OTHER high school!

[–]Varjaar 9 points10 points ago

I fear I may have stumbled into a reference from before my birth...

[–]grantmclean 3 points4 points ago

They're our rivals!

[–]KookyGuy[S] 27 points28 points ago

Should have looked it up. I just spelled it how I thought it sounded.

[–]TrixiDelite 8 points9 points ago

Yeah, well, I'm sure there are very few people who know that (and even fewer who are gutsy enough to admit it !).

[–]KookyGuy[S] 22 points23 points ago

Omg. I admitted I made a mistake on Reddit. What have I done!

[–]Shappie 9 points10 points ago

The flood gates have been opened.

ONWARDS BRETHEREN!

[–]neoncp 2 points3 points ago

I think he/she was talking about admitting they know that fact and thus giving away their age.

[–]tbshawk 4 points5 points ago

You are now tagged as "made a mistake".

[–]enflamed_anal_hairs 0 points1 point ago

It's our job to remind him 24/7/364.5

[–]DrizzX 1 point2 points ago

Nick at night baby! Happy Days was the best.

[–]willief 0 points1 point ago

Thats funny; my Adidas had four stripes.

[–]librarianzrock -1 points0 points ago

Not officially a 70s kid (born in '79) but watched re-runs of Happy Days every day after school. I agree about the spelling. Yaaaaay!

[–]Cordober 75 points76 points ago

Dat muscle memory.

[–]TheAristrocrats 20 points21 points ago

I spend far too much time on Reddit.

[–]shazang 5 points6 points ago

I see this statement every time I also spend too much time on reddit.

[–]kampfy3 1 point2 points ago

I hate everybody equally.

[–]rvd733 2 points3 points ago

[–]BingBongDerp 0 points1 point ago

Some more equally than others.

[–]whatdoyouwantmetosay 0 points1 point ago

"I know, they tell me not to pick at it...does this look contagious to you?" -- Barry Zuckercorn

[–]Rbryson30 20 points21 points ago

Decades later and he's still got it

[–]rAxxt 35 points36 points ago

At least his timing is consistent.

[–]mdr1974 42 points43 points ago

This. I was stupidly impressed with how perfectly he could still do that move :)

[–]sassooooo 32 points33 points ago

oh, i wish you hadn't said phoenix...

[–]Dave_Hulud 31 points32 points ago

"hey you aren't one of those guys dressed like a girl are you?" "no baby I'm the real thing." peels off in disgust

[–]Varjaar 6 points7 points ago

Just gimme a tap on the fanny if you know...

[–]TheDarryl50 9 points10 points ago

He's very good

[–]Varjaar 6 points7 points ago

By the way, you don't happen to know the name of my wife?

That's what I'm talking about, I'm not "super prepared"!

[–]dudeitzchris 14 points15 points ago

I don't know why this makes me sad. MY EMOTIONS!

[–]SolidBones 5 points6 points ago

THINGS YOU LOVE GET OLD AND THEY WILL ALL EVENTUALLY DIE!

[–]Frankeh 0 points1 point ago

FUCK YOU, MAN!

[–]_fredster_ 12 points13 points ago

Here's another brilliant Arrested Development moment

[–]Punkwasher 7 points8 points ago

I think I know why Arrested Development was cancelled.

It was too good.

It would've raised the audience's expectations of television quality. Obviously Fox can't produce that kind of quality consistently, so it was better to can it before people actually started to expect good TV.

Probably the same with Firefly.

[–]kampfy3 2 points3 points ago

so brave

[–]themightypierre 4 points5 points ago

As a child of the 70s its difficult to convey what a hero the Fonz was to me. I just adored the guy.

[–]riqk 4 points5 points ago

As a child of the 90s who grew up watching Happy Days, I wish I grew up in the 70s so I wouldn't look like a tool for loving Happy Days.

[–]TheDarryl50 2 points3 points ago

Arrested development has tons of this subtle humor. Henry Winkler also jumps over a shark

[–]dyszka4u 6 points7 points ago

What movies/shows are these from?

[–]ashrak 34 points35 points ago

Arrested Development on the left, Happy Days on the right

[–]robutts 9 points10 points ago

both show's are AMAZING by the way

[–]douglasr007 8 points9 points ago

Just got finished watching all of Arrested Development. It's weird realizing how old it is with the current events presented in that show.

[–]Varjaar 10 points11 points ago

"It's called a cuppachino and wait'll you hear what it costs!"

[–]thenewiBall 2 points3 points ago

Didn't he also do that in an episode of Children's Hospital?

[–]bullsfan03 0 points1 point ago

What episode of Arrested Development was it? I need to re-watch the series again!

[–]Disasstah 1 point2 points ago

Until Happy Days jumped the shark.

[–]treesontreesontrees 2 points3 points ago

Coulda swore that was the movie Scream on the left

[–]treesontreesontrees -2 points-1 points ago

Judging by the shaky cam though, you're probably right

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]treesontreesontrees 0 points1 point ago

Nah, now that I think about it, the camera moving like that resembles that of a sitcom, and I believe the scene in Scream was a little darker.

[–]E3K 1 point2 points ago

I'm sorry.

[–]dyszka4u 0 points1 point ago

Why is that?

[–]E3K -1 points0 points ago

It's like saying you've never been high, or never experienced the love of a woman. By not being aware of two of television's greatest offerings, you are missing a part of life's greatest joys.

[–]dyszka4u 0 points1 point ago

Sorry, but I don't feel that way and there's need for you to feel sorry for me. It's impossible to keep track of all the TV shows, especially when you have other responsibilities in your life. Plus, it's quite difficult if you're not American.

If you are familiar with all of the "television's greatest offerings", it probably means that you spend majority of your spare time in front of TV/computer, in which case I can only say "I'm sorry" as well.

[–]retroshark 1 point2 points ago

i love how in the more recent footage, he has obviously practiced and performed that part so many times as it seems so much more natural when compared to the footage from the show. that made me laugh.

[–]Melkor_Morgoth 1 point2 points ago

Live fast, love hard, and don't let anybody else use your comb!

[–]locke-in-a-box 1 point2 points ago

jump the shark! jump the shark!

[–]loosesack 1 point2 points ago

thank you

[–]snowstormsinnovember 1 point2 points ago

Barry is very good.

[–]BZuckerkorn 1 point2 points ago

I'm very good.

[–]cmotdibbler 1 point2 points ago

An gif of pre-black-leather-jacket Fonz is as rare as big brother Chuck. Bastards, I loved the way he communicated just by bouncing a basketball.

[–]lookitzpancakes 1 point2 points ago

This is one of the best gifs I've ever seen, bar none. Not hilarious, not wtf, not insane.....just one of the best.

[–]KirktheJerk 3 points4 points ago

Not sure how many times I have seen this now.....

[–]polishlanman[!] 1 point2 points ago

Into the triple digits now...

[–]UncleJew 2 points3 points ago

[–]Bojacks 2 points3 points ago

You probably have a lot of Arrested Development to discover.

[–]mybreathyourlung 0 points1 point ago

Hahaha! That comment was funny because it's so true. That poor soul.

[–]UncleJew 0 points1 point ago

not true. Just never made the connection. I have seen every episode at least twice.

[–]rightjason 0 points1 point ago

[–]tripinbalz 0 points1 point ago

I've always been told Henry Winkler is my fourth cousin or something by my extended family, but I have no idea how to look that up. I'm understandably sceptical, but really hope it's true.

[–]TheMightyShrub 0 points1 point ago

My fun fact about myself is that I managed to get a first on my undergraduate dissertation, which was all about The Fonz. I like to tell people I have a BA in Fonzy

[–]ThereGoezSliminSimon 0 points1 point ago

I came expecting pirates

[–]tankgirl85 0 points1 point ago

And then he gets stabbed by ghost face :(

[–]maru455 0 points1 point ago

I Jumped the shark....twice

[–]Bam_Boozle 0 points1 point ago

I did a little extra work for the movie "Here comes the Boom" which he is in with Kevin James. I was sitting down in the extras room talking to a few others and he came up behind me patted me on the shoulder and asked how I was doing. Was pretty damn cool.

[–]Waste_Manager 0 points1 point ago

How did I never realise that was the same person?

[–]mrhelton -5 points-4 points ago

I can't look at the man the same since finding out he was too scared to actually ride the motorcycle in Happy Days.

[–]Buscat 2 points3 points ago

WHAT YOU SAY!

[–]CleanBill -3 points-2 points ago

There sure seems to be a big front of reposts lately...

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]NotEntirelyUnlike 5 points6 points ago

Was he always in Arrested Development?

[–]douglasr007 1 point2 points ago

Henry Winkler is in a majority of the episodes.

[–]feistyfish 0 points1 point ago

The technical term is a recurring character.
