Let me rephrase: It doesn't work on a stock install of windows 7 pro 64 bit. Seems odd that this would be different on different versions though, is there a setting you have to enable?

Let me correct you both. It only works when you are using an Intel Graphics Chipset, namely an integrated desktop graphics processor. Usually seen on cheaper PCs or work PCs that don't have a graphics card.

It only works if you have an Intel graphics chipset, so if you can't do it, it's a good thing. It means you have a decent graphics card, or that you don't have the Intel drivers.

Can someone explain why there is such a difference between this photo being upside down and right side up vs other photos under the same conditions?

I can't flip it but I know some basic traits that might be there.

Looking at it as best as I can I think the entire eye section might be completely flipped. Most of the stuff is flipped over like the eyes, so the face being upside down you look at independent pieces and they all look like they are correct. But flip the face everything is now upside down.

Your eyes automatically invert the image to compensate the rest of the image upside down. It tricks your brain but it has the opposite effect when looking at the flipped image.

I don't get why this weirds people out. They look super bizarre when they're upside down (I mean, their eyes and mouths are upside down in relation to their heads, how is that not weird?)

Why do people expect them to stop looking weird when you flip the image over?

lol. the reason it look so odd, is becuz the eyes on the mouth (including the shadow right around them) were flipped upside down in contrast to their face, so when they are upside down their features seem normal.
