You'd be correct; However, it was last posted 3 months ago, and a fair amount of time has passed, unlike the 'Welcome to the bible belt, where being obese is genetic and being gay is a lifestyle choice' post.

Isn't everyone on /r/atheism certain of themselves?

[–]CouncillorDayv 0 points1 point ago

Nope, just certain of proven facts.

I know Bertrand Russell (I love him seriously he's like one of my favourite people ever of all time next to Zheng Yi Sao and Tim McIlrath) and what he hates is dogmatism, and says you should never follow any philosophy dogmatically, and constantly question what you think/believe. These are the same basic principles of atheism (questioning religion), as if tomorrow some theory other than the Big Bang was proved 100% correct, atheists would move onto that belief instead, whereas religious believers would still stick to their guns.

The intro to this video agrees with you.

He also said,"I would never die for my beliefs because I might be wrong." When I told my fundie English teacher that when the class was discussing the executions in Animal Farm, she got pissed. Fun times.
