I can't even believe that's on our planet. Absolutely gorgeous.

This is a real picture from Yasuni National Park in eastern Ecuador.

Yasuni National Park in eastern Ecuador.

Looks like an awesome place to go swimming. Sadly I'd be reminded of the movie The Rundown and supposedly how they have parasites that swim up your urethra...

Best wear a rubber.

[–]Smilemon 1 point2 points ago

Those exist. I went swimming in the Yasuni, and I was terrified the entire time.

Amazon Prime.

The land that time forgot.

I've been to this exact spot. I visited the Cofan tribe of zabalo and spent over a week with the tribe deep in the Amazon jungle. They are still battling Chevron in one of the largest environmental lawsuits in history. "Crude" is a documentary about what they are doing right now. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

One more reason not to mess with the water cycle.

So you're telling me, there's a river named after Amazon?

[–]addictedtomeme 1 point2 points ago

You should see the newegg river in Tennesee.

Does anyone else see the face of a cat?

Cascada de San Rafael (San Rafael Falls), in Napo Ecuador. Coordinates are -0.104303, -77.580967.

Interesting tidbit: the crater of the most frequently active volcano in Ecuador (Reventador) is only 8km (5 miles) away from the falls, and was probably responsible for forming the waterfall in the first place.

I fucking love this planet

Anyone else thinks it looks a little... off? Not sure what, just looks a tad odd

[–]Ishtar3 4 points5 points ago

I think you're just jaded by the Internet.

[–]awisepenguin 1 point2 points ago

I think the sky looks a bit odd, but I'm not entirely sure if its shopped or not.

Artifacts of a long shutter speed?

[–]gobearsandchopin -2 points-1 points ago

This is just a tributary, to the greatest lake in the world.

[–]murgginator -3 points-2 points ago

I think you mean, an "amazin" river tributary
