im not about to go youtube video hunting, but there are plenty of videos and shows (food network's "unwrapped" comes to mind) about the process of creating food items for mass production and sale. I remember a specific show about the angus burger at mcdonalds, and a large portion of the show was dedicated to showing how they consumer test their burger seasoning (salt and pepper). JUST the seasoning. Just think how many different ratios of fat/meat/spices they used finding one that was appealing to the most number of people.
