weeping angels can be temporarily immobilized by mirrors and kill to feed. 173 breaks necks for the lulz and can only be stopped by human observation. I've always wondered though, what would happen if they put 682 in 001's "event horizon"?

682 is "hard to kill." This is a wee bit of an understatement as the SCP society throws pretty much anything they can at it and it always goes berserk and kills. Every once in a while, something will slow it down, but it "adapts" and is no longer bothered by that thing any more. If you're familiar with the DC comics character "Doomsday", 682 is pretty much an exact copy of his powers.

If you're interested in the SCP site, 682 is one of the most linked articles because pretty much any Euclid or Keter class object that isn't horrifically dangerous to interact with gets thrown at it to see if it's actually more dangerous than him. Spoiler: nothing is ever tougher than 682.

001 has several different SCP's listed under it, this particular one is, I believe, Adam or something (part of the report has a transmission from the future reading, in part "Cain and Abel, my two sons..."), and he guards a rift into what is presumably the garden of Eden/heaven. Anything that approaches or attacks it is destroyed by his sword. 682 is a giant monster. It cannot be killed by any means we have insofar, and has incredible powers of adaptation and regrowth. It was put in a room with 173 and the lights were shut off for like a minute, after which the two stayed in opposite corners of the room, while 682 grew dozens of extra eyes to watch 173 after healing extensive head and neck damage. Other than that, it can kill pretty much anything, and hates humans with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. That's the condensed version, 682's file is ENORMOUS.

I remember reading a test about 173. It may have involved the tree that clones things (I don't remember which SCP it is. r/scp might dig it up for you). Anyway, basically... the "direct observation" thing is wrong. According to the test log I read, 173 CAN move while under direct observation.

It just doesn't.

I thought this too, but per the document on 001, they were 'told' by the entity to not use it for disposal of other SCP's. 001, being what it is, everyone is basically 'forced' to comply.

My guess is if they tried it, it'd treat the people who ordered 682's release as the source of the 'threat' and destroy them like the Indian Ocean sub experiment.

Not a real thing. It's basically a wiki of made up thingies that are being "Studied, Contained or Protected." It's a fun, collaborative but ultimately fictional website vaguely similar to the premise of the show Warehouse 13.

I'm slowly reading my way through it. Usually a few hours a week. It's mostly sci-fi with a few spooky things here and there.

http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-series is the main page you're going to want to hit. Just pick a few random articles from anywhre on the list. My two favorites are 087 (which is one of the rare scary ones, imho) and 682 which is a true fan-favorite. You will encounter some in-universe jargon that won't intially mean anything to you, but don't bother to read the faqs until you've read a few random articles to see if learning the jargon is worth your time.
