A bunch of jokes that have been in every "Reddit, what's your most offensive joke?" thread. On the other hand, at least you didn't just rip text from a movie.

As if all you 20-something engineering students buried in student loan debt could feed a family of four.

As a white man, all i can confirm is that these are hilarious.

I would say thanks for giving me over half of the racist black jokes on the internet if I hadn't read them over a million times.

Why is this racist shit getting upvoted so much? It is as I suspected: reddit is populated by racist assholes pretending they are progressive.

As a progressively minded redditor who finds racist humor hilarious, I felt like I should comment. Now I have no idea if anyone else is in the same boat as me, but I doubt that my position is unique. Anyway. I think that jokes like these are hilarious, as I stated. Regardless, I don't look down on other races in my day to day life. Are there certain stereotypes that I catch myself using from time to time? Sure. But do I REALLY think that all black people smell? Nah, I know better than that. In a moral, social, and political sense; I think all races are equal. I just find offensive humor to be funny.

I hope this was enlightening! If not, well, I've been drinking. Deal with it.

Copying shamelessly from /u/guynumberthree here, don't think he'd mind:

TL;DR: Science proves racists don't get the fucking joke.

This shit isn't funny. It's not transgressive or particularly interesting. It's just an excuse for people to pat themselves on the back about how they're so benevolent and ironic with their racism.

I seriously don't understand reddit. Every fucking time something like this gets posted, someone takes the time to explain that racists don't understand that these jokes are ostensibly ironic, and every time that person is inevitably either downvoted to oblivion or ignored. Racist humor causes people of colour to feel less accepted, while making racists feel like their ideas are in the mainstream. Moreover, racist humour perpetuates racist thinking in those who hear and make such jokes.

Seriously, scientific studies have proven quite conclusively that discriminatory humour (in the case of most studies, sexist humour, but the same principles apply) hurts the victims of oppression and helps perpetuate that oppression.

You may think that the only way to break down racism is to ridicule it, but shit like this 1) isn't ridiculing racism, it's finding a backdoor to reintroducing racist patterns of thought, and 2) has been scientifically proven, insomuch as anything can be scientifically proven in the social sciences, to actually increase racism.

You may have friends who are people of colour who laugh at this sort of shit. You may think that makes this okay. I would recommend that you take a minute to sit there and consider. If you were in their situation, growing up as a child wanting to be part of the more popular groups at school (almost exclusively white, most places), wanting to be accepted amongst your peers (usually majority white), wouldn't you pretend to enjoy racist jokes? Maybe even persuade yourself you really do like them, that you're one of the "good _____ people," more like your white friends than the ones they're mocking, as a psychological defense mechanism? Even if you think this is a very rare occurrence, is the minimal humour value of these tired old tropes worth that sort of psychological damage and otherization?

No one is saying you can't make racist jokes, we're just saying you shouldn't. There's no "political correctness policing" going on here, just regular people telling you not to be a fucking asshole.

In case you want to see some of the studies I was talking about, here are five from the first page of a google scholar search for "sexist joke":

http://psycnet.apa.org/psycinfo/1998-07621-003 http://psp.sagepub.com/content/34/2/159.short http://www.springerlink.com/content/g451601664828vh1/ http://www.springerlink.com/content/w6k6116857024668/ http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ejsp.56/abstract

Also, before anyone makes the snide "Wow, you wrote all that for one post on /r/funny ?" comment, no, I wrote this for every relevant post on /r/funny . I just vary it a bit with the subject matter.

I think a future where people can make racists jokes and people don't get offended is the ideal. Shows security in the but of the jokes social and economic status and trivializes anyone who is actually a racist. Taking racism seriously is more damaging than making racist jokes.

I'm a black man and I laughed at all of these.

Edit: I'm not really black.
