If you didn't notice, TM now have infinite uses.

[–]firebat707 74 points75 points ago

yeah that was by far the best thing in the whole game

[–]prokillz123 32 points33 points ago

I think the best addition was the fact that the game now ASKS you if you want to use another repel

[–]Honey_Otter 13 points14 points ago

It does?!?! I've played through White a number of times and I've never realised that....

[–]dragon60fe 22 points23 points ago

B2 & W2 do. B&W don't.

[–]andy98725 9 points10 points ago

Stop it. I'm running out of paper, writing down reasons that I want to learn japanese just to play the game earlier.

[–]SeaofDarkness 2 points3 points ago

By the time you get your Japanese to a level in which you can understand much of anything going on, I bet the English version would be out. :P

[–]andy98725 1 point2 points ago

True.

Anybody have any "learn a new language in two days" scams that I could try?

[–]TheEpicestDerp 2 points3 points ago

I do!!! It cost ya 1000 karma and.... Uh..... A wombat plush. Alright, ready?

[–]andy98725 1 point2 points ago

TBH If that had a chance of working I'd trade those in any day.

[–]HotCrockets 0 points1 point ago

If you really really can't wait, there's ROMs with fan translations out already.

[–]SeaofDarkness 0 points1 point ago

I really don't mind the wait. It's going to be October before I know it, and I wouldn't have it any other way. :D

[–]pinkycookie 1 point2 points ago

really?

[–]THEREFOREiEXIST 4 points5 points ago

for Black2 and White2. Pretty fucking awesome.

[–]brianfantana32 4 points5 points ago

I think the enhanced plot line and awesome designs were my favorite, the game could be the best so far with all of the new improvements

[–]Jiffpants 2 points3 points ago

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wut o.O I...am so happy..

[–]lemonfreedom 2 points3 points ago

as a lifelong pokemon fan who never got around to playing black or white I suddently have the urge to pawn something and go buy it.

[–]ejisfun 31 points32 points ago

Buzz...buzz...buzz...buzz...buzz...gets on bike BUZZBUZZBUZZBUZZBUZZBUZZBUZZ

[–]chaqalaqalaqa 27 points28 points ago

It doesn't? I've been playing and didn't notice, because I always use Antidote right away.

[–]cutfloss 18 points19 points ago

Same. After 4 generations it became a habit.

[–]tectactoe[S] 11 points12 points ago

haha, nope. i just got poisoned in pinwheel forrest without an antidote. when the battle was over, i started walking away expecting to see the annoying flash every few steps from the poison. to my surprise, it was not there and my pokemon's HP was still intact.

[–]Cial 29 points30 points ago

The status effects not working outside of battle just feels wrong... besides what am I going to use all these antidotes and shit for now!?! The TM's being infinite is an interesting change, I still don't know how a CD works on a pokemon though(other than Porygon)

[–]Mister_Jester 16 points17 points ago

I like to think of it as an informational DVD that you play on your Pokedex or something along those lines...

[–]IstheCakeReallyaLie 21 points22 points ago

And it used to have DRM...

[–]Mister_Jester 13 points14 points ago

but they decided to take a hint from the makers of the HM's and now their sales are skyrocketing... (I'm talking to you Ubisoft!)

[–]Cial 2 points3 points ago

That makes sense.... I guess we told the MPAA to shove it in Gen V

[–]LieutenantTickles 6 points7 points ago

You just shove it in the ass area.

[–]Digipatd 2 points3 points ago

Where does it go on a Grimer?

[–]EnderBro11 9 points10 points ago

ANYWHERE

[–]Drwhoovez -1 points0 points ago

I have been an long time believer that burn > poison because poison now only does straight damage per turn while burn does twice that and lowers attack

[–]Cial 0 points1 point ago

Wait when did burn start lowering attack O_o the fuck have I been missing out on EV/IV's and now burn lowers attack....... Damn things have changed.....

[–]Drwhoovez 0 points1 point ago

Burn has lowered attack since Gen 1

[–]Cial 1 point2 points ago

Ive never noticed.... I've just been using it for the damage over time... I am a failure T-T

[–]Blueychocobo 7 points8 points ago

When I was but a wee lad, I was convinced thoroughly that the sound of the poison hurting you in RBY was actually someone trying to shoot you. I was so terrified.

[–]emperor_cesar 1 point2 points ago

I remember freaking out the first time it happened. I though my pokemon red broke for some reason. And after i received the notice that my pokemon fainted and the flashing disappear, my fear turned to sadness.

[–]itchicken 4 points5 points ago

It's kinda funny, really, because I always complained that poison hurt you out of battle. Now that they finally removed it, I want it back.

[–]LordOfTurtles 11 points12 points ago

It's just not the same anymore ;_;

[–]dipittydoop 2 points3 points ago

The real question is whether confusion still exists as the bane of all strategy and rational thinking. Why are you still hitting yourself charizard WHY?

[–]TheInternetHivemind 1 point2 points ago

I always thought they started thrashing atound and tripped and landed on their face or something.

[–]leviathan235 8 points9 points ago

Actually, I prefer that the poison does do that. It poses an actual challenge. gamefreak toned down the difficulty of pokemon during gen 5 by doing stuff like this.

[–]mamueller 9 points10 points ago

Am I the only one who HATED that they tok this out? The games were already easy enough.

[–]Honey_Otter 6 points7 points ago

I think the reason they are getting easier is that you are now older and understand it better.

Like it or not its a game that has a huge audience in young kids, you can't make it harder because you'll alienate all of the little kids who enjoy it and are just like we were when we got into it

[–]mamueller 1 point2 points ago

Oh I totally agree that it's getting easier because I'm getting older, but the changes they are making are, you have to admit, accelerating it. Four generations and we had to worry about poison taking out Pokemon when stuck in a cave or something and now it's no big deal.

[–]Honey_Otter 2 points3 points ago

I guess so, but the number of times being poisoned outside of a battle was an issue for me was tiny. Usually it was just an annoyance rather than a genuine challenge.

[–]mamueller 0 points1 point ago

I can't count the number of times poison screwed me over...

[–]TheInternetHivemind 1 point2 points ago

Walking into lavender town, one pokemon left, poisoned...

Fainted inside the pokemon center...

Back to the start of the goddamned cave.

[–]Lasercat77 3 points4 points ago

In gen 4 poison stops when you have one HP left.

[–]AoF-Vagrant 7 points8 points ago

While I'd like a bit more challenge in pokemon's main campaign, I don't think this made it easier since you could just use an antidote. All it did was make things more convenient.

That's good game design!

[–]leex0 2 points3 points ago

but antidotes are for chumps.

[–]NeighborStrategy 0 points1 point ago

I hated this too, until I did a nuzlocke challenge and my starter starter Pokemon got poisoned. Saved my precious Topig's life.

[–]0011110000110011 0 points1 point ago

No, you are not.

[–]Allexan -4 points-3 points ago

Yeah, personally I liked the games more without all the hand-holding and simplification like this or the infinite TMs.

[–]nuclearon 35 points36 points ago

Love the infinite TM because now I actually use them.

[–]mamueller 38 points39 points ago

The infinite TMs I actually liked cause it made it so I wasn't afraid to use my TMs. In older gens I rarely used TMs cause I was afraid I would need them later on.

[–]Lasercat77 6 points7 points ago

The infinite TM's were added because ,originally,TM's were commonly said to be 'Too awesome to be used'. Think about it;If you only find one copy of a TM,odds are you'll forever be waiting for a good opportunity to use it.

[–]AshTheGoblin 1 point2 points ago

Yea, I've played every game and I've probably only used 3 tms,

[–]Allexan -2 points-1 points ago

I've been playing since rby and I've never had that much trouble with TMs.

[–]Lasercat77 3 points4 points ago

Have you ever used a TM you only get once and later though "God dammit! I wasted it."?

[–]Allexan 0 points1 point ago

Not really. Never got into competitive battling or anything.

[–]Lasercat77 1 point2 points ago

Neither do I,but this almost happened to me in Soulsilver with dragon pulse. I'm kinda glad I ragequit.

[–]GirlWithThePandaHat 1 point2 points ago

I once used solar beam on my Venusaur... -_-

[–]TheInternetHivemind 0 points1 point ago

You always use that on snorelax, come on.

[–]GirlWithThePandaHat 1 point2 points ago

I was young and impatient. I didn't know what I was doing... ;_;

[–]THEREFOREiEXIST 2 points3 points ago

TMs were also limited in that the PP's don't get restored. Say you have Fire Blast on Blaziken but want to swap it out for Brick Break. The move's PP stays at 5 because of Fire Blast, and not to Brick Break's 15.

[–]EvilSpunge23 3 points4 points ago

Well that was to stop people from using TMs to restore PP, like ethers that never run out.

[–]BlueJoshi 6 points7 points ago

I like the TM thing, but yeah, this is too much.

I was okay with GenIV removing the poison right at 1 HP, but even that felt too easy. I wish it was how it had always been :(

[–]krogers1337 1 point2 points ago

No more blacking out a few steps from the pokecenter with your last pokemon anymore I suppose...

[–]CranialEruption 2 points3 points ago

In HGSS the poison goes away with the last HP, pokemon doesn't faint, can use a potion to get their health back up.

[–]Mr_Mimiseku 1 point2 points ago

All of these features added were awesome, but auto run is gone. :'c

[–]TheInternetHivemind 0 points1 point ago

Wait, auto-run?

[–]Mr_Mimiseku 1 point2 points ago

In HG/SS when you didn't have to hold down B to run. You just ran automatically once you acquired the running shoes.

[–]TheInternetHivemind 0 points1 point ago

Huh, didn't happen in platinum. Never really played the remakes.

[–]wonderfulpat -1 points0 points ago

They're really awesome, especially because of the constant dose of nostalgia they give you

[–]Snowfog 1 point2 points ago

Wow. I never noticed this. I always just ran towards the pokecenter like my best buddy life depended on it. Wow. My mind is blown.

[–]StarlightAria 1 point2 points ago

I did not even realize....

[–]Methylobacterium 1 point2 points ago

Back in Blue I didn't know that the poison effect was causing the screen to bug out when walking so I returned the game and Gameboy and got a new one.

[–]TheEpicestDerp 0 points1 point ago

Me too, mind you I didn't return it bit I thought my gameboy had broke.

[–]Cortelmo 2 points3 points ago

Doesn't that make poison (Not badly poisoned) kind of pointless then? If it does nothing to you outside of battle, it is just a burn that doesn't reduce your attack stat.

[–]Mumpsterpwnch 0 points1 point ago

It's kind of insulting though...

[–]bunnyflop 0 points1 point ago

I'm disappointed. This was a major part of poisoning and was really interesting.

[–]TheGnomie 0 points1 point ago

I know I should be happy.. But it's just not the same..

[–]Majackal 0 points1 point ago

When I first got fire red I thought the poison sound/screen effect was a glitch

[–]GirlWithThePandaHat 0 points1 point ago

It took me a while to figure this out. Mainly because since gen 1 as soon as one of my Pokemon got poisoned I flipped my shit and healed them ASAP. I just thought they got rid of the screen effect. When I noticed my pokemon's HP not dropping I was very happy.

But seriously what's the deal with the field doctors/nurses? That makes the game crazy easy. Not that I won't stop using them, just an observation.

[–]WolfGuy100 0 points1 point ago

This should also applies to TM infinite uses too. When I first learned that after getting White, I was so FREAKING HAPPY.

[–]0011110000110011 0 points1 point ago

It doesn't?????? So I've been wasting all my money on Antidote for nothing?!?

[–][deleted] ago

[–]100MilesPH 20 points21 points ago

In HG/SS it goes away at 1 HP.

Canadian sorry and every other sorry are MUCH different... I'd know.

[–]ImperialUlfric 0 points1 point ago

I'm kind of disappointed... I stated my opinion and was barraged with down votes.

[–]_Nostalgia_ 1 point2 points ago

Sorry honey... at least the Canadian thing was kind of funny?

[–]THEREFOREiEXIST 1 point2 points ago

Catch a Sawk at the area before Pinwheel Forest. Bring to 15 and just sweep Lenora with Double Kick. But switch out after Herdier to negate Intimidate.

[–]ImperialUlfric 0 points1 point ago

It's not that I can't beat it I just don't enjoy this game.
