Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:
    [X Kills Y](/spoiler)
    Result: X Kills Y.

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:
    [Player 1 wins](/spoiler "Pong")
    Result:
    Player 1 wins

  • Report posts containing spoilers not using the above method

  • Don't post users' personal information.

Wasn't this supposed to be a trilogy? I played through the first one, it had a great story i remember but game play controls was a little off but still fun.

Yep. The story was awesome. I liked the game a lot and I even tried finding the symbols for the $1000000 prize that never happened.

I made it to the very end of this game but never completed it. It didn't see too well iirc. I also believe there were novel written as follow ups to this game.

Why wasn't there another one? Well...Mass Effect came out and pretty much owned the genre.

Agreed, but the legal hell surrounding this game is pretty much insurmountable at this point...

Majesco, the publisher, owns the rights. Shortly after the release of AR, Majesco had financial troubles and was restructured. They now only make "casual" games for Nintendo consoles that can be developed at low cost. It keeps them afloat... somehow, though barely.

They don't seem interested in making a sequel to a game that financially and critically bombed (mainly due to bugs and lack of polish. Cult following isn't something you can write in financial reports). They probably don't even remotely have the funds they would need for a project like this even if they wanted.

The developers of the game are no longer with Majesco anyways. They went off and created Chair Entertainment, and were later bought by Epic Games. They said that they would like to make a sequel, but don't have the rights to do it. Rumor has it that Majesco doesn't want to sell the rights.

Finally, you'd probably have to get the old writers, Orson Scott Card and Cameron Daytonback back on board. No sure what Daytonback is doing right now... Card worked with Chair on Shadow Complex, so that's probably the easiest thing to solve.

fuck. every time anyone brings up Orson Scott Card it makes me sad. Dude is such an amazing writer, but such a shitty human.

Also, this game was the tits. The flick targeting was cool as hell.

Yeah... I also like his books, but pretty much flat out disagree with all his opinions. It's like he's 2 different people :/

It blows my mind, arguably the most important theme in the ender series (ender's half anyway) is tolerance and understanding. I don't fucking understand how he can be the complete opposite of that in his personal life.

What a fantastic game. Paved the way for Mass Effect.

Made me shed a tear or two.

This was actually the saddest game I owned for the Xbox. It was innovative, and at the time, I thought it had excellent graphics and artwork.

As I played the game, I kept thinking, "holy shit why is everyone who this guy cares about dying one after the other oh my god where is he going to go what is that bunker in the snowstorm who is the guy who gave me the blanket how did I suddenly learn telekinesis holy shit"

Reading your description makes me feel like I missed something in the last level, I just assumed it was a cliffhanger ending and it wasn't going to be explained until the next game. In fact, I don't think I ever even found a bunker.

Would you mind elaborating?

[–]thesishelp 0 points1 point ago

No problem. I played the game a long time ago, and my memories are pretty hazy, so I apologize in advance if anything is inaccurate.

Basically, after beating the final boss, you were sent to this frozen wasteland with a raging snowstorm. After ambling around in-game for a while, a cinematic would start, with some alien wrapping a blanket around you, saving you from hypothermia, and leading you to some bunker. It was a cliffhanger ending.

However, as I am typing this, I am starting to think that there wasn't a bunker at all, and the alien just walked you off into the distance.

I remember the walking in snowstorm but I sure as hell don't remember the cinematic. Was this on xbox version. Or was it too glitchy that it load. Love the game by the way.

Loved it. One of 'those' games.

I wish Bioshock never happened and System Shock 3 came out with all the fanfare that the crappy Bioshock Infinite has :(

SHODAN IS MORTAL.
