Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports). "Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

"Generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission.

Breaks 35 picks getting into a master locked chest

Potato

[–]poopnuts 7 points8 points ago

Praise Talos you found that potato in a chest and not in your anus.

[–]KilroyTheKiljoy 1 point2 points ago

Wonder how much health a potato enema would get me? 2 points a use?

[–]IAmA_Zombie -1 points0 points ago

Depends on how big it is and how deep you get it up there

[–]KilroyTheKiljoy -1 points0 points ago

Gross bro, took it to far

[–]FromaLand 1 point2 points ago

I'd pick up those mini tacos, gotta be at least a few health.

[–]vertigogo 0 points1 point ago

God damn it. You just reminded me how many times I clicked before I read.

Thats common? To check empty containers? There's nothing in them so why bother. I know your picture is a joke but I can't comprehend it's intelligence. And I really don't think people waste thief time opening containers. Might just be something that you do. Dot Jay Peg

I don't get it

[–]Willomo 4 points5 points ago

It's based off an image from the show "Arrested Development"

The bag originally said "Dead dove inside: Do not eat"

[–]ikinone -1 points0 points ago

Thanks, I know arrested development, but I don't get the reference to bethesda

Wow okay, downvoted for not knowing an obscure behaviour in bethesda games. Sorry to offend /s

[–]Willomo 7 points8 points ago

In Fallout 3 and New Vegas (Possibly The Elder Scrolls also) when you look in a container if it has nothing in it it'll say the container name and then "(Empty)". It still doesn't stop people from checking juuust in case

[–]xeivous 1 point2 points ago

It is applicable to Skyrim, but not Oblivion. Don't recall morrowind.

[–]Willomo 0 points1 point ago

I doubt it, they didn't give you much in that game. Lots of trial and error.

[–]Daved400 0 points1 point ago

That's what made it so good in my book.

[–]Willomo 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, it really worked for it. Also the fact that there was no marker was nice. I distinctly remember the location of an important person being given to you through a note that said "Go down the main street and he'll be on the third door on your right... or was it left?"

Good fun.

[–]Vaelkyri 0 points1 point ago

Sadly modern gamers dont get that, the importance of finding it for yourself instead of having it given to you.

Some of the best gaming moments Ive ever had were playing Morrowind and trying to find places/people.

[–]Willomo 0 points1 point ago

In fairness, that also meant that a lot less people played it. The direction they're taking is still pretty logical

[–]LukaCola 0 points1 point ago

You liked opening boxes to find nothing inside...?

The more and more I hear r/gaming talk about morrowind, the more I think people need to take off their rose tinted glasses of nostalgia.

[–]hcb117 0 points1 point ago

I wore my "rose tinted glasses" as I read your comment... What you're saying is "Why would I want mystery in a game? Suspense and adventure are in the past, games might as well just tell me what I get before I even look at the chest!" Ahah, honestly though I know what you mean. But at the same time, Morrowind was a fucking AMAZING game.

[–]monkeyfur69 0 points1 point ago

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut skyrim is better FACT.

[–]steezdoug 0 points1 point ago

In real life when you find a box that is empty, is it labeled as empty? Yes it's a game and not reality but immersion is the reason I play games like Fallout and TES.

[–]LukaCola 0 points1 point ago

Oh come on if you wanna talk about immersion in a magical fantasy game you're already kind of breaking it in that setting.

Fantasy games are never supposed to make perfect sense. We look past those things that would just be a bother if they were realistic so we can enjoy the whole picture without the frustrations of the writer trying to explain the impossible that is magic.

Fantasy is an automatic immersion breaker unless you want to ignore certain things. So, in a game, you can simply ignore one or two more without it breaking immersion.

[–]ONXwat 1 point2 points ago

There's a reason i check the "empty" ones, i searched one and found something once.

[–]TheCatWithTwoHeads 1 point2 points ago

what... Really? Was it a glitch or something?

[–]ONXwat 0 points1 point ago

pretty sure it was. New vegas was buggy as hell for a few updates.

[–]Del_Castigator 2 points3 points ago

We open things such as bags/chests/deadthings even though they say empty.

[–]ikinone 0 points1 point ago

Ah okay, thanks

[–]West15 -2 points-1 points ago

Ive played the Fallouts, Skyrim, and have watched Arrested Development. Why would you take the time to search containers if they are clearly labeled empty. I Well understood thr picture but it is stupid. Likewise searching a container that is clearly labeled EMPTY

[–]ZapActions-dower 1 point2 points ago

Seriously, people see the [empty] sign and check anyway. It's very common, which is why this has so many upvotes.
