I've seen a lot of horrible things, but imagining this growing inside of some poor guy's face may be near the top of the list.

[–]saladtossing 10 points11 points ago

My skull is tingling....

[–]ContractedTyler 8 points9 points ago

My spidey senses are tingling

[–]Themehmeh 19 points20 points ago

I agree. But at the same time, That's amazing. I feel richer for hacing learned this today.

[–]notdiscovery 5 points6 points ago

Try some Syphilic lesions. Source

Or Porotic Hyperostosis. Source. The skull is also Culturally modified in that pic.

Also, Cribra Orbitalia is a particularly scary looking version of hyperostosis.

[–]rawrc 1 point2 points ago

Nope, not clicking any of that.

[–]lolvik 0 points1 point ago

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/bc/Maya_cranial_deformation.gif/800px-Maya_cranial_deformation.gif This was the only thing that I could see..

Thanks for that though. I now understand the Donald Duck story about the people with the square heads!

[–]cinghialino 3 points4 points ago

Imagine the pain.

[–]Punkdance 1 point2 points ago

Ouch, I really don't want to. But would it be like a headache? Just a lot more pain?

[–]orthag 2 points3 points ago

My eye hurts.

[–]Denyala 0 points1 point ago

You aren't kidding. My face immediately started having sympathy pains...

[–]moonblade89 -1 points0 points ago

Is it growing on the skull or is it eating away at the skull?

[–]KindOfANerd 0 points1 point ago

Growing.

[–]Ap0crypha7 18 points19 points ago

I wonder what the flesh atop of this disease would look like? It would have to be noticeable.

[–]notdiscovery 3 points4 points ago

I imagine something like this. Source

[–]mrsobchak 1 point2 points ago

Bumpy as shit.

[–]coolsean1000 13 points14 points ago

Still makes me feel itchy on the inside

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points ago

Fuck Cancer.

[–]Phenomenauts 10 points11 points ago

While not an osteosarcoma, I had a friend who fell prey to Ewing's Sarcoma of the femur when he was only 22 years old. He was diagnosed, saw it metastasize, and take his life in a matter of eight months. This type of cancer is the worst ill man could ever comprehend.

[–]CheerioMan 6 points7 points ago

Goddammit... I had just forgotten about this fucking picture.

[–]WarAndRuin 49 points50 points ago

[–]Midnight_Skye 6 points7 points ago

My only regret.... Is having... Boneitus!

[–]Vtybcobic1851 3 points4 points ago

I wonder how painful that was.

[–]FourWordUserName 4 points5 points ago

I'd rather not think about it...

[–]mbrady 4 points5 points ago

Especially considering it's spiky in the eye socket too... shudder

[–]Vtybcobic1851 0 points1 point ago

gah, you made my skin crawl.

[–]headdownassup 5 points6 points ago

I FUCKING HATE THIS ITS LIKE NAILS ON A CHALKBOARD!! STOP REPOSTING THIS!!

[–]Seven_Sins_Pride 8 points9 points ago

Would your face bleed the whole time?

[–]kravedarknesss 0 points1 point ago

I doubt it would bleed with the amount of points would distribute the pressure. I don't think it'd break skin at all.

[–]wishitwasepic 3 points4 points ago

Source? Or more info?

[–]PanFlute 0 points1 point ago

Just posted a comment - didn't see your comment first.

[–]powerwindows 3 points4 points ago

Is there a picture of someone living with this under their skin?

[–]Davethe3rd 12 points13 points ago

My one regret... was that I had boneitis...

[–]PanFlute 2 points3 points ago

Osteosarcoma - the "sun-burst" growths are a periosteal reaction. Some bone infections (chronic osteomyelitis, Garre's periostitis) can produce a similar effect. When this happens with sickle cell anemia, it's more of a "hair-on-end" effect.

[–]gaminggeek12 2 points3 points ago

God. This must be painful. But it looks so... Furry. I want to touch it. But The man/girl who had to suffer from this? I feel sorry for this man/girl.

[–]gaminggeek12 3 points4 points ago

And imaging bumping your head on something. Jesus.

[–]AsEasyAsTHC 2 points3 points ago

It kind of looks like coral...

[–]Nyxian 4 points5 points ago

Just in case anyone is wondering: This (And loads more /r/WTF karma) is located at the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia.

[–]Calimegali 1 point2 points ago

It sure looks cool though.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Imagine if you bumped your head on something, they'd all come poking out

[–]b56koutu 1 point2 points ago

My grandfather died of this. He was on morphine the last 80 days of his life. So much morphine that he wouldn't even talk, just stare at the ceiling.

[–]KeineAugen 1 point2 points ago

Cancer? In the head. Head cancer?

[–]UlisesGirl 1 point2 points ago

I now have a serious case of the heebie-jeebies.

Much like that cancer, it's incurable.

[–]effieokay 1 point2 points ago

I am just speechless and horrified.

[–]Rubberduckie198 3 points4 points ago

I want to touch it.

[–]Davethe3rd 1 point2 points ago

HONEST QUESTION: Why does the skull look "furry"?

Also, I take it that the cancer is inside the skull...

[–]chikinboy 14 points15 points ago

The "furry" is the bone cancer making the bones grow out and is excruciatingly painful.

[–]cruzinlikeabau5 7 points8 points ago

The bones are growing out?!?! I thought it was just decaying!

[–]Classtoise 3 points4 points ago

Well...it's bone CANCER. It's what cancer DOES. It causes outrageous and uncontrolled cancer of a clump of cells to the point of destroying the tissue slowly and painfully.

[–]cruzinlikeabau5 1 point2 points ago

oh my bad I've never actually seen bone cancer before so I thought it was decaying not growing out. Thanks for the explanation :)

[–]Classtoise 1 point2 points ago

:D Well then, happy to help you learn, friend!

[–]cruzinlikeabau5 0 points1 point ago

Does this happen to all bones that get bone cancer? Or just the skull? I can't even begin to imagine that on a person's hand or shin...

[–]forshow 1 point2 points ago

If this was happening to me, I would just end it.

[–]Davethe3rd 2 points3 points ago

Oh shit... I didn't know that...

DX

[–]WeldingMouse 1 point2 points ago

I would self-prescribe a hearty dose of suicide before it got anywhere near that bad.

[–]Glasse 0 points1 point ago

It looks so... fluffy. I want to touch it.

[–]herebezombies 1 point2 points ago

Definitely, I'd love to get a look at this up close and get my hands on it.

[–]Schwarzer_Hund 2 points3 points ago

This is a repost..

[–]NakedMeow 0 points1 point ago

That's so amazing but so horrifying all at the same time

[–]TheHerpfulDerp 0 points1 point ago

Kind of want to touch it o_o

[–]paul1990 0 points1 point ago

that is oddly beautiful.

[–]jenaration 0 points1 point ago

I spy shards of bone in that eye socket. That can only mean shards of bone were piercing this person's eyeball from behind.

[–]Squackula 0 points1 point ago

Yep.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Guys, this is WTF.

Holy fuck. That's fascinating as shit.

[–]Pythagoras_the_Great 0 points1 point ago

I WANT TO TOUCH IT.

[–]Davethe3rd 0 points1 point ago

I would too, were I not afraid that touching it might give me cancer...

I... umm... I don't know how cancer works.

[–]kill4urmom 0 points1 point ago

It looks so soft

[–]PaulyTrout 0 points1 point ago

I really wish reddit would add something to check if stuff has been posted before letting it get posted.

[–]spritle6054 0 points1 point ago

I read the title 4 times and read it as "boner cancer" the first 3 times.

[–]ubiliquous 0 points1 point ago

Fuck cancer!

[–]NapTake 0 points1 point ago

He must have been in so much pain :/

[–]MONDARIZ 0 points1 point ago

Hard to imagine the person lived long enough to end like that.

[–]karlosmorale 0 points1 point ago

Fuck this fucking picture and fuck the fucking fuck off. It took me weeks to get this out of my head last time. This is what I get for mindlessly clicking through r/wtf...

[–]oswald_c_cobblepot 0 points1 point ago

this was a lot more interesting when i saw it in the first 65 posts...

[–]spases 0 points1 point ago

ew fuck this picture, i saw it once and imagining it made me cringe for days. wellp, bak to cringing i guess :c

[–]faustrex 0 points1 point ago

Did he make it?

[–]Davethe3rd 0 points1 point ago

Why do I keep clicking on this image?

[–]BootlessTuna 0 points1 point ago

Because it keeps getting posted!

[–]owneroftheworld 0 points1 point ago

Is this at the Mutter Museum in Philly?

[–]mindaika 0 points1 point ago

Proof of God's love...

[–]signalrocker 0 points1 point ago

Ow...

[–]herebezombies 0 points1 point ago

That is a magnificent specimen. I'd LOVE to own it or something like it. The chaos in the malformation is fascinating.

[–]Simi566 0 points1 point ago

I know that must have hurt like hell but...

That's freakin awesome looking

[–]kcsx -1 points0 points ago

Oh my dear sweet goddamn gay baby Jesus fuck everything about that.

[–]thefielder -1 points0 points ago

Oh no! My bone-itis!

[–]SuperSlayin -5 points-4 points ago
