its called a fractal, self similar. clouds are the same seemingly go on forever. when looked at. self similar means it looks the same from far and from close.fractals themselves are an output of the chaos theory. but also what you are seeing there is not in fact an optical illusion but really just a video looped per itself. the fact that it is grainy makes the loop look much cleaner as well.
