Gotta say, don't see why "Magic Mike" is a big deal. It's a movie about male strippers. If they made a movie about female strippers, guys would love it, wouldn't they? So what's so horrible about a movie about male strippers?

Just sayin'. I'm not really interested enough to watch it, but I just don't like that if the movie was called "Magic Michelle", a lot of male redditors would be in the theatre. But because it's "Magic Mike", we make fun of it. Just sayin', can't us girls have our stupid fantasies, too?

Have any of you bashing the movie actually seen it? It's pretty goddamned good. Best acting I've seen in quite a while, and it's funny. Thoughtful plot and wrap-up, too.

It's incredibly stupid to me how one movie based on male strippers creates such a scene and leads people to brush it off as (and I quote from this thread) "gay/softcore porn," "a guilt free way for women to experience a strip club," "penises," and so on. It's just a movie, like any other movie, with it's own characters and world. Except it's actually great, unlike most.

Also, are all you guys really so insecure that you have to respond with revulsion to stuff like this? Or are you just playing along with how the Cosmo/Maxim social machine wants you to act in public?

Finally (and sorry to all the homophobes, but...), there aren't any dicks in the movie (aside from one or two silhouettes). There are tits, though, and quite a few, so bring your doggy bags if you need to vomit.

So Im just gonna be honest here. Im a straight male, aged 24 years and I think Magic Mike actually looked funny. Channing Tatum was hilarious in 21 Jump Street and Alcide from True Blood is in it. The story actually doesn't look half bad, as it isn't really about stripping, but about a person who is a stripper who doesn't want to be.

Im not saying its gone be a classic or anything but it certainly looks watchable in my book...

On top of that, this post seems a little desperate. Like OP just wants to make sure people don't think he wants to see Magic Mike. Ive seen commercials and previews for it for the last 2-3 months and not many references online, so i can't relate to OPs situation.

I just went to Target. A cop was trying to hit on a hot woman. She said she was going to a movie. The cop says "You go to movies alone?" and she said "No, I've never been to a movie alone" then started walking away. The cop said "Well have fun at Magic Mike." Couldn't tell if success or not.

It's actually a pretty good movie, saw it last night. I was one of maybe 4 males in the packed theater. It was surprisingly realistic, delving into how lonely and sad some of the character's lives are. It's definitely not the fluff piece it's being marketed as.
