A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:

i love that kind of logic. company A is not as good as company B, because a game that company A made that came out 13 years ago does have the same graphical fidelity of a game from company B that came out last year.

Compared to current gen tech? Yeah, it kinda does. There's a lot of hard edges and flat surfaces pretty much everywhere with texturing for detail that looks ultimately as flat as everything else. The tech screams of being dated -- which it is. The source engine has been "ancient" for a few years now and shows its age to those specifically looking for ways to fault it.

That said, graphics aren't everything, and your tolerance of graphics is specifically tied to what you are looking for in a product.

The fundamental disconnect in the OP's claim is that his "friend," should the claim be valid and true, is equating the quality of the graphics to the quality of the experience had. Depending on age, expectations, gameplay, and so on, this might very well make it completely valid to say that EA's generic FPS is better than Valve's generic FPS, since they're using one metric to determine which is better.

Well, at least EA doesn't recycle their source engine every fucking game and EA actually tries something with their FPS franchise (like BF3) which add destruction, better sound, better grahpics, and life like animations.

Watch the guy below me reply with "Nice try EA marketing team, upvotes to left, EA bad."
