Hmmm, yeh. It looks like the tree is wedged between the rear wheel and the saddle, also his left foot seems to be against the tree too. His hair shows no sign that he was carrying any speed and there is no terrain disturbance anywhere up the trail.

Other factors that could be called upon but there may be reasonable explanations is that his forks are really, really compressed as though his full weight is on the bars, rather than being thrown over them, but we've all seen those balancing acts that can happen. The terrain also doesn't look anything special, certainly nothing that would cause this, but then people make silly mistakes all the time. The rider seems to know the exact position of the camera, to the point that he is (I think) looking right at the lens, I would have thought this is not something you could do in a split second, but maybe he was exposed to radiation when he was younger and now has special powers or something.

I think I'd call staged if I was pushed to it.

Edit: This is of course ignoring the HUGE issue that he doesn't have his hands out in front of him trying to save himself from injury, this is a motor reaction, would be hard to override.
