You had a ROOM?

[–]gatesleep 15 points16 points ago

You had a MOM?

[–]TheTedinator 12 points13 points ago

Luxury...

[–]Vakinox 3 points4 points ago

The pretty nurse lady always told me that babies like me were born from dumpsters.

I was sad to know that when she told me about vaginas, I figured out I never had a home.

[–]pseudoserious 88 points89 points ago

I don't get it when people's MOMS cleaned their rooms for them..wtf?

[–]185139 70 points71 points ago

Moms bitched.
Kids didn't do it.
Mom cleaned room

[–]catagris 58 points59 points ago

If I didn't clean my room = my shit got donated.

[–]themacguffinman 7 points8 points ago

My mum would just shout at me until I did.

[–]Danmolaijn 4 points5 points ago

My mother always used the phrase: If you don't, I'll tell your dad.

That got me going pretty quick.

[–]Rubyrues 2 points3 points ago

My mum pulled that on me many times, and it worked. But there was one day where I decided to test the threat boundaries... Yeah, that ended real quick.

[–]Spidooshify 1 point2 points ago

I don't have a mom :(

[–]Rubyrues 0 points1 point ago

Do you find it necessary to depress me with that info?? Nevertheless, I'm sorry. :(

[–]RiPotato 0 points1 point ago

This got sad, fast.

[–]vtslim 8 points9 points ago

My dad would occasionally lose it and just throw everything I had left on my floor into a garbage bag and stick it up in the attic. I was free to go up and get it back down, just not put it back on the floor. I thought it was tyranny then, seems fairly reasonable now.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points ago

And now look at you, obsessed with Dwarf Fortress and on Reddit all day. How's that workin' out for ya?

[–]catagris 1 point2 points ago

Ummm, I am married living on my own?

[–]SlasherX 0 points1 point ago

Yeah what do you do when your room has nothing you care about? It's literally just full of trash.

[–]fawker 0 points1 point ago

or made into lawn art

[–]Iminurcomputer 0 points1 point ago

Exactly, if I had the ambition I'd make the same saying... "WTF why is all my shit gone"

[–]whiskeybravoii 2 points3 points ago

Why is the rum gone?

[–]death_punchies561 0 points1 point ago

Slightly related/ When I was about 7 my mom told me to clean my room. After cleaning it for about 4 minutes I turned on my tv and got distracted. My mom walked past my room, gave me a warning, and said "IF YOU DON'T PICK UP YOUR TOYS I'M GOING TO TAKE THEM AWAY!" I freaked out and started cleaning again. But, like all 7 year olds I had no willpower and got entranced by the tv once again. About 6-10 minutes later my mom walked by again and sticking to her warning grabbed a trash bag and started putting all my stuff in it.

Flash forward two weeks latera, and I had gotten about 10 of my toys back (my mom let me earn then back by doing chores). It was trash day and like usual my dad goes and gets all the trash and puts it on the curb. One of those was my trash bag full of toys.

Tl;dr Got my toys taken away for not cleaning my room, Dad accidently threw them away.

[–]Kowzorz 6 points7 points ago

My parents didn't let me have a tv in my room...

[–]drumstyx 3 points4 points ago

You can't say it didn't happen once. For me it was when I was little (under 8 I'd say) and once when I was older (12) because it was a gift for me coming home from cadet camp.

[–]-maru 2 points3 points ago

Right. I'd usually be responsible for cleaning my own room, but my mum would generally do a major clear out every six months or so. No matter how much discipline you instil into your 7-year-old, there's no way he or she is going to be able to do anything more than a cursory tidy.

[–]BeefyTaco 3 points4 points ago

90% of the time its just an excuse to snoop. Who honestly cares that a kids room is messy, especially when its not a place your parents frequent often. My mom knew damn well she was better off nagging me until I did it instead of pissing me off when I cant find my own shit. The classic "oh I didn't see your blank anywhere while I cleaned" only to find out 6 months later its been hidden in a box in the most random spot possible

[–]Punchee 2 points3 points ago

My mom actually liked doing that shit. She is a nesting type. I'd come home from school and have new pillows that I didn't ask for and my room polished top to bottom. And I, like the OP, would be confused as shit for a week trying to find everything.

[–]Teotwawki69 2 points3 points ago

confused as shit for a week trying to find everything.

Or shitting for a week wondering whether she found the pornstash...

[–]aznboi2000 1 point2 points ago

Not hard because if it's not in the same place... yeah.

[–]milky_c 3 points4 points ago

If my room wasn't cleaned the only thing my parents were cleaning was my clock!

[–]dirtythrowaway47 14 points15 points ago

Read cock. Became curious and horrified.

[–]eydryan 1 point2 points ago

I don't know how it is in the States but here it's a cultural thing, it's normal for them to do that, even though it pisses you off because you can't find a damn thing. Once she cleaned up and it took me 4 months to find my charger.

[–]lemurstep 1 point2 points ago

I don't get it either. As I grew up, if I didn't clean my room when asked, I'd get things taken away until I did.

However, this didn't really apply to legos, as we had huge ongoing projects with bathtub sized bins of legos. We only had to rake them to the side and make a path at bedtime.

[–]randomnothing 4 points5 points ago

Agreed, your mom cleaned your room for you? Wtf? My mom would have bitched me out until cleaning my room felt like the safe opinion. I had a gf in college whose mom still cleaned up after her, did her laundry, cooked for her, and did her dishes. This girl thought that was totally normal... WTF? The last time my mom cleaned up after me I was eight and she is a great mother.

[–]Jepperd 5 points6 points ago

I CAN SEE THE FLOOR?!

[–]suddenly_depressed 28 points29 points ago

whenever i walked into a clean room after months of it being dirty i would always smile...i miss smiles...i miss my mother...

[–]evandamastah 6 points7 points ago

novelty account or just actually really sad? O.o

[–]Im_licking_cats 8 points9 points ago

He's been a redditor for 2 hours. Novelty.

[–]Kredns 2 points3 points ago

Maybe he's been depressed a lot longer...

[–]Teotwawki69 0 points1 point ago

Brohug. Me too. Me too.

[–]ebbird 16 points17 points ago

MY WEED!

[–]tokinathon 11 points12 points ago

"Mom I'll clean my room from now on, don't worry about it anymore."

[–]volcomstoner 5 points6 points ago

I feel like the real reason my mom cleans my room is to look for weed. Luckily I'm good at hiding it :)

[–]SisRob 2 points3 points ago

you should really give her some, when she's so desperate

[–]Kurupt55 1 point2 points ago

This is why I clean my room by myself

[–]nhilante 4 points5 points ago

Mine completely altered it when i was outside the country for uni once, i freaked out because of ocd and some other introvert problems and didnt feel safe in my own room for a week in which she helped put it back the way it was and we all learned a wonderfull lesson; sometimes small things can be seriously painful.

[–]Randomacts 4 points5 points ago

Like needles? Those things can hurt like a bitch.

[–]TeCuervo 5 points6 points ago

Freaking 1%. Had your own room and your mom cleaned it.

[–]ProSimm 3 points4 points ago

This is what I love-hate when my mom does. Everythings in its right place.. Not exactly where I left it.

[–]NeonCookies 4 points5 points ago

In my experience, NOTHING was in its right place. It was put away, but not where it "belonged" in my mind. If she put things away in my room or attempted to clean it she would make up her own version of where every thing went. I would get very upset because I had no idea where anything was anymore. It wasn't where I had left it last, and it wasn't where it "belonged."

My mom actually eventually gave up on my brother and I having clean rooms and only had one rule. We needed to have a clear path from our bed to the door and windows in case of a fire. My bed was under the window, so I just needed a path to the door. Clean up became easy after that.

[–]BoomerFTW 4 points5 points ago

Now where the hell is my phone charger...?

[–]Mistyranch 3 points4 points ago

Your phone charger?? Wow! The last time I was young enough for my mom to forcefully clean my room no one had personal phones yet... I feel old.

[–]fawker 0 points1 point ago

beepers were considered drug paraphernalia at my middle school

weren't tolerated in high school either

[–]SantiagoAndDunbar 6 points7 points ago

[–]zutsori 1 point2 points ago

I sang that link, then was disappointed.

[–]Zanizelli 2 points3 points ago

I would clean my room when I was little, but some days I'd come home from school and mom had cleaned it... Best feeling ever! LOVE MY MOM.

[–]recyclinghomos 2 points3 points ago

I'm 19 and this still happens to me. I have to ask my mom where my stuff is.. she knows my room better than I do.

[–]zutsori 0 points1 point ago

That is a sign...to...ummm...leave?

[–]recyclinghomos 1 point2 points ago

I'm away at university most of the year. She pays for it so I can't leave as long as I'm financially dependent on my parents.

[–]zutsori 0 points1 point ago

I guess I'd be happy they still keep a room for you. Mine is now a closet. Well, it always was a closet, but now its a true closet.

[–]recyclinghomos 1 point2 points ago

I'm they're only child. They cherish my room :p

[–]zutsori 0 points1 point ago

You're the Dudley to my Harry.

[–]recyclinghomos 0 points1 point ago

I don't know what that means :p

[–]dadadancerr1 2 points3 points ago

My mother would have never cleaned my room. "Your mess, your responsibility!" That's what she always said.

[–]kaydub88 3 points4 points ago

My mom's version of "cleaning" my room was for her to see it was a mess and then to flip out and dump all my drawers out and tear everything out of my closet. I wasn't allowed out of the room until it was cleaned to her specifications.

Usually, cleaning my room took 2 days or more.

[–]spacebrony 9 points10 points ago

mine did the same.

Oh, messy room? How about I put ALL YOUR SHIT on your bed.

Wanna sleep tonight? Gotta clean your room.

[–]LadyTarTar 3 points4 points ago

Yes! Same for me! And if that didn't work she spanked my ass! I always feel bad when I see weak pushover parents who enable their lazy children

[–]Punchee 1 point2 points ago

Challenge accepted? Use the long sleeves as a patchwork blanket and the sweatshirts as a pillow.

[–]fauxjorgenchoi 1 point2 points ago

Always a bittersweet moment.

[–]Lusharude 1 point2 points ago

Hated it when she did that. There was always a method to my madness. I wanted that sock on the ceiling fan so I could find it!

[–]HumanVelocipede 1 point2 points ago

If I left my shit on my floor or messy my mom would just throw it in the garbage............... ...

[–]Alamlion[S] -1 points0 points ago

Actually, i'm a freshman in college now :P

[–]DiddlyDooDiddle 0 points1 point ago

oh my god i hope she did not find my porn/beer/smokes stash thats how i felt

[–]aDarkerKnight 0 points1 point ago

One of the rare occasions where FB actually beat Reddit to it

[–]grokthol 0 points1 point ago

clever...

[–]gantzphere 0 points1 point ago

Ugh, While I was away at high school bowl nationals my mother "cleaned" my room and found my gay porn stash. Nosy-ass bitch.

[–]aceventurasdick 0 points1 point ago

LOL

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

I'm in college now, but my dorm room still looks like it has been ransacked (and smells like a rancid sack).

[–]Vixolus 0 points1 point ago

I've seen this on facebook with the same exact title before 3 times.

[–]Sleeping_Fox 0 points1 point ago

This is amazing.

[–]jonatfuckdotorg 0 points1 point ago

so basically you reposted my original work, but with a watermark on it

[–]SpaghettiCat 0 points1 point ago

I always hated leaving my house for more than a few days (on school trips, ect.) because I just knew that my mum would clean my room. It always made me so anxious.

I think I just had a small epiphany as to why I never want to leave my house now...

[–]ohmygodbees 0 points1 point ago

my thought was always "oh shit, shes going to find them!"

[–]drdragos 0 points1 point ago

My mother still cleans my room because I'm fucking lazy and postpone cleaning like I postpone windows updates and she can't bear a dirty room.

[–]Jeevezzz 0 points1 point ago

My mom never cleaned my room, but anytime she was even in the room I would start worrying about her finding the booze I had in the back of my closet.

[–]yyx9 0 points1 point ago

I wonder what kids learn by having their parents do everything for them. I remember a kid in grade school whose parents used to do his homework for him. I wonder why he failed 5th grade twice.

[–]thangle 0 points1 point ago

My mom would bitch at me to clean my room, but it was really hard to take her seriously, because the rest of the house (basically what my child mind thought of as HER room) was a fucking disaster zone in every area. No authority mom, no authority.

[–]Yaymemes -1 points0 points ago

I had to clean my room myself.... ._. But still, this post is still pretty funny.

[–]Zondraxor -1 points0 points ago

This is a blatant repost. I have seen this on weknowmemes.

[–]IJustHadAStroke -2 points-1 points ago

You know this picture you posted, is of a great magician. We used to read books about him as a kid. I think his name is Dumbledore. All I remember is that he used the force and could talk to the dead. I think he used to have a light sword. I miss reading about Gandalf.

[–]zutsori 0 points1 point ago

That feel. Me too.
