I can't tell. Is it the pixels?

[–]0mousse0 2 points3 points ago

I dont think this is real. There is a squid that is supposed to be pretty big (though not that big...) and it has never even been caught alive, so i seriously, seriously, dont think this is real. If it is real, then i have certainly been living under a rock my whole life, for i have never heard of this badass jelly.

[–]dev4d21 4 points5 points ago

This is a lion's mane jellyfish, and yes they can grow up to 8 feet.

[–]0mousse0 6 points7 points ago

yeah.... okay, but the jelly in the picture is about 3 times that diver's length (and the jelly fish and the diver dont even have the same lighting on them, yes underwater shots can be weird with lighting, but i mean, just look at the danged photo.. it just plainly looks photoshopped) and a average person is around, i dont know, 5 feet? at the shortest.. that's already close to the biggest that that jellyfish has ever been recorded ass. the jelly in the picture is way too big.

TL;DR Dat jelly be too big, nigga

[–]Rabbit-master 0 points1 point ago

And in that picture it appears to be about twice that? I know its a big jellyfish, but that picture is a known fake.

[–]Formaldehyd3 4 points5 points ago

Every time this is reposted someone finds the proof that it's fake... I don't feel like finding it, but it's out there. Just so you know.

Lion's Mane jellyfish They can apparently grow to be 8feet in diameter and 120 foot long tentacles... They also get speared by Japanese fishermen which in return disrupts their reproduction cycles and pretty much causes more and more.

[–]mirthless_smirk 0 points1 point ago

Yeah I watched a show about jellyfish.. the Japanese were catching them in nets and chopping them up but apparently the jellies released eggs and sperm when they died so although they killed a few jellies they created millions more in the process. Which is why they now have a huge plague of the things in the sea of Japan.

NOPE.

[–]fool139[S] -1 points0 points ago

Nice, this is what I was looking for. Too lazy to google so I post on reddit for someone else to research. I take it to the next level!

edit- they need more pictures of them like this with a person in front.

[–]MeYouNow 0 points1 point ago
