Hardly. The AT&T iPhone 4S can download twice as fast as other networks' iPhone 4S, and multiple networks have described that technology as 4G.

The Australian lawsuit has nothing to do with that. It has to do with 4G/LTE support on the iPad. It has the capability, but Australia has no compatible towers. They feel Apple shouldn't advertise the capability unless people can use it.

As far as I'm aware, no current carrier reaches the 100mb/s standard outlined by the ITU-R to be considered "4G".

That's the thing. None of the current technologies advertised are 4G. Not the current LTE, and not the HSDPA stuff.

People are fine calling LTE 4G, but call AT&T liars when they call HSDPA 4G (even though T-Mobile has been calling it 4G for a long time).

It's wrong to say that you have 4G when you don't have 4G. It's not a fucking opinion, it's fact you can't ignore. There are no American or European 4G phones right now AFAIK. 4G is not made to replace 3G, it's made for computers.
