In the larger scheme of things, no. It's not a big deal. But I think a lot of redditors become jealous when they see others succeeding so easily, by taking advantage of someone else's creativity. It's really about jealousy. I'm jealous of Bluntman5656. So I'm going to downvote Mr. Man.

Yo! I actually came across this for the first time right now and I liked it so much I made it my background on my phone(I found a nifty app on my droid that lets me have gif's looping in the bg :D)! Since I don't go to any other subreddits but r/trees and r/til, I was stoked I saw something so cool to make my background amazing. THANK YOU. This is my attitude towards all "omg; dis iz a repost ARGH!!!"-like comments. I definitely don't browse other subreddits as much as r/trees and definitely wouldn't have seen this otherwise! Obviously if they're being upvoted to the front page, enough people are enjoying it, otherwise they wouldn't get to the front page in the first place right? I dunno. Maybe I'm just high and rambling, but yup. TL DR; Is it that much harder to ignore a repost and hope someone else gets a kick out of it than to complain about it?

Completely agree with you. I realize the hypocrisy in my saying this, but it's really annoying when every repost of an image are filled with comments about how it's a repost, rather than commenting on the content. So what if it's a repost? At least in this case, the OP is conveying a brand new meaning that's relevant to /r/trees with the image.
