The sad thing is, so many people get so entrenched in their argument that they don't even listen to what the other person is saying, and thus never realize that they're wrong.

Or, even more common, people get into arguments where either it doesn't even matter, or there is no clear "right" answer. Then they bitch back and forth and hate each other even though neither one is actually completely stupid and wrong.

Usually I can pick things up by context, or someone else asks the question I was going to, and I see the answer that way. When those two methods fail, I find it's easier to search google if I include "reddit" (Only works for reddit specific things though.)

The tricky part is always admitting it. Even if you don't do it there and then, a quick "yeah, I was wrong" the next time it comes up and someone notices your changed position is enough. You gain respect from others for changing your mind, but don't lose face there and then, if the social situation implies you're likely to with a "shit, you're right" there and then.

If I later find out infomation that indicates I was wrong, I usually take the initiative and tell the person the next time I see them.."oh yea, about x, it turns out you were right, because xyz ..."

I hope they forget. If they bring it up and I was blatantly wrong and there is no morally or flexible way to spin my opinion as acceptable, I will admit to it later, but usually not right then.

I usually don't get into an argument that I can't spin my opinion as acceptable. If it's something like X actor in Y movie and I'm wrong, there is no getting out of it, a "Yeah, fuck you are right." will be let out. Reluctantly, but willingly.
