I had a lucid dream once, realized i could wake myself up, then tried to and it worked. +1 fail.

[–]Andy284 23 points24 points ago

Pretty sure that always happens the first time

[–]Tiverty 1 point2 points ago

My first and only time that happened.

[–]Andy284 2 points3 points ago

I almost had it a second time when all my teeth started falling out and I went "This is a dream isn't it" and promptly woke up.

[–]mastr_slik 1 point2 points ago

This is very common, have done it a few times myself- you were probably very worried or anxious about something at the time, am I right?

[–]Tiverty 0 points1 point ago

All his teeth were falling out, I think he was worried and anxious.

[–]TheRealZoggbot 31 points32 points ago

And then you woke up because you got too excited, the end.

Edit: I hate when this happens.

[–]jmc_automatic 17 points18 points ago

This is exactly what happened to me the only time I've ever started to control a lucid dream. The realization hit me that I was controlling it, I looked down at my hands and started getting really excited, then felt myself drifting awake.

[–]tmrxwoot 6 points7 points ago

Drifting awake. I like it.

[–]tmrxwoot 1 point2 points ago

Your band sounds peaceful and melodic as shit.

[–]scibastion[S] 15 points16 points ago

Stabilize c'mon you can do this... dammit I'm awake!

[–]badwithinternet 67 points68 points ago

[–]emvee311 7 points8 points ago

i just so happened to click on the '1 comment' and was pleasantly surprised.

[–]BallsackTBaghard 35 points36 points ago

This works for me.

Don't sleep for at least 24 hrs prior. Go to bed feeling a little hungry. Try to sleep. You should feel sleep paralysis creeping in. Don't mind the auditory hallucinations. Fall into a state of not being able to open your eyes. Then you have to concentrate not to fallasleep and to ignore the noises of somebody breathing/talking/laughing into your ear. Then you must imagine a sort of a rabbit hole that opens up in front of your face where you crawl through. Then the world turns into a bright range of colors and sounds.

That could be just me, but that is how I enter my lucid dreams. Shit is cash.

[–]B0nerJams03 22 points23 points ago

That's great except sleep paralysis is the scariest shit ever.

[–]splel_cechk_fwt 13 points14 points ago

Having to go through sleep paralysis is not fucking worth it. Anyway, lucid dreaming happens at random for me. I'll be dreaming and suddenly I can control it and I'm like "Oh sweet, its my lucky day". And then I over-think and become too aware and wake up. Damn it. It only works for such a short time for me.

[–]illiarch 0 points1 point ago

The first couple of times it is, but I find it hysterically hilarious now.

[–]VasiliiZaytsev 5 points6 points ago

Don't mind the auditory hallucinations.

This is solid advice. I often do this.

[–]audiofreedom 2 points3 points ago

Do you feel rested when you wake up?

[–]mastr_slik 1 point2 points ago

Your body yes, your mind? Like you were snorting coke and playing rounds of Tetris all night.

[–]audiofreedom 0 points1 point ago

I'm not sure how I feel about that but I have enough good feelings that I might try it.

[–]BallsackTBaghard 1 point2 points ago

The thing is that I can't keep that lucid dream all night. The most I have had was maybe 1hr of lucid dreaming. You will either fall into a deep sleep or wake up.

[–]polishlanman 0 points1 point ago

Will try tonight. Thank you, Master.

[–]minorwhite 10 points11 points ago

I was only able to control a dream once. I did the right thing and went flying. It was amazing.

[–]evilrobotdrew1 16 points17 points ago

i have also controlled one dream, but decided to go Super Saiyan and start blowing everything up.

[–]jerkey2 1 point2 points ago

Dude!! Now I feel like I wasted my one lucid dream...

[–]afiman86 0 points1 point ago

I try to do this now and then when im dreaming but it just doesnt work, and then ill wake up thinking "dammit! I couldve imagined boobs, that always works"

[–]clearlyreading 1 point2 points ago

SAME!

[–]ceasly 0 points1 point ago

I was only able to control a dream once, i destroyed my most hated teachers classroom right in front of her. It was amazing.

[–]mastr_slik 0 points1 point ago

Me too. Through space

[–]WorldGenesis 3 points4 points ago

Where is this gif from? o_O it looks like Super jail

[–]relishhunter -4 points-3 points ago

This

[–]sprz 4 points5 points ago

Whenever I have a nightmare, I now almost always realize it in the back of my mind. When it gets to the part where the monster catches me or whatever, I sort of just get angry, sort of a "This is MY mind! You don't know who the fuck you just fucked with." Then I usually explode them with my mind. It's pretty awesome, let me tell you.

[–]Infamous_Rage 0 points1 point ago

I'm listening... Tell me

[–]SammyLocked 0 points1 point ago

It's only in those situations that I control my dream. It's usually me about to meet my death by something, and it's at that point I remember my fail-safe method to get out of it and wake up. In the dream, I grab my eye lids and pull them up. I then wake up with myself actually grabbing my eye lids. Works every time. Now if only I can control it in other ways, I'd be in business.

[–]Big_Lebowski 5 points6 points ago

How you did that?

[–]BrutalJones 5 points6 points ago

[–]reddit_karma_train 16 points17 points ago

it's not easy but once you learn you can pretty much screw all the bitches.

[–]trackguy94 4 points5 points ago

I've seen this gif before but this is easily the best use of it I've seen.

[–]fistfullaberries 1 point2 points ago

I once told a taxi driver who was trying to force me in his cab that I didn't have to get in because "It's my dream and I can do whatever I want."

"You're right son..." he said. Pretty cool.

[–]Mumpsterpwnch 0 points1 point ago

That's some Matrix shit right there.

[–]Thendofreason 1 point2 points ago

All my dreams are lucid but they get boring after a few years so I just sit back and watch them like movies. I'll intervene when see something i don't like.

[–]Thendofreason 0 points1 point ago

don't get me wrong, they are fucking amazing dreams. I had one the other day, cross between dead space and zelda. Imagine link going though amazingly scenic spacescapes while slashing though hundreds of bad guys.

[–]BelleDandy 0 points1 point ago

I was in the same situation after a while then I got insomnia. I don't sleep at all without medication and I can't have truly lucid dreams on the medication. I miss it now.

[–]flat_pointer 1 point2 points ago

This is also a good example of what you should do if you start lucidly dreaming.

[–]Murdacai 1 point2 points ago

What is this from?

[–]whitetigerisme 6 points7 points ago

Original video on Vimeo. It's from a series of five shorts all done in a similar style- definitely check out the rest of them!

[–]Clusterfarce 1 point2 points ago

In my lucid dreams, whenever I "over utilize" something (focus too long, kill something, throw something out of my line of vision) it's as if it was never there in the first place. As if by manipulating it I've made it aware it's being manipulated, then it retreats from my dream. That's the tough part. It's good for control, but it's all or nothing with people/things.

[–]blankblank 1 point2 points ago

Whenever I have a bad dream I stop and remind myself that I can lucid dream. Then I turn into ironman and kill everyone.

[–]goofball_jones 2 points3 points ago

That's when I get lucid dreams, in nightmares. I, for whatever reason, become Mr. Rational and realize at the second I see it's a nightmare, thatI know I'm dreaming....

...then out comes the lightsaber!

[–]palerthanrice 1 point2 points ago

Whenever I have lucid dreams, I just end up fucking everyone.

[–]milez1305 1 point2 points ago

The first and only time I realized I was in a dream I immediately tried to fly and failed... then I proceeded to roundhouse kick everyone there in the face. God I wanna do that again.

[–]taboo007 0 points1 point ago

Some questions about lucid dreaming

Do you get itchy? If so do you scratch them or just let them go?

Do you sleep on your back?

Do you have an out of body experience when you first start or do you just start dreaming?

[–]BelleDandy 1 point2 points ago

All of my dreams were lucid dreams for a long time. I generally sleep on my side but may roll over onto my stomach or back. I'd just go to sleep as usual and then start dreaming. As far as I know, it's exactly the same as regular sleeping and dreaming - I just happen to be aware that I'm dreaming and can decide what I want to do. I loved flying, of course, but superpowers were great, too. I also enjoyed travelling to favourite places.

[–]taboo007 0 points1 point ago

Any tricks you can think of for a first timer?

[–]ghostcoins 0 points1 point ago

Waking Life offers a few good tips for lucid dreaming. I used one of them pretty successfully for a while.

If you constantly ask yourself "Is this a dream?", then eventually you'll ask yourself that question and it will be a dream. At that point, you can take control.

I never tried the light switch trick. That seems to take too much effort. It needs to be easy.

[–]BlueThundah 0 points1 point ago

oh god, lucid dreaming.

Once thought I was controlling one, immediately l tried to have sex. Couldn't find any sex so i started asking around in the lobby. Fucking alarm goes off.

[–]audiofreedom 0 points1 point ago

I've always wanted to have lucid dreams. I have very realistic dreams but never lucid.

[–]I_Am_Aushay 0 points1 point ago

I tried to make sexy time twice, was about to wake up but thought, "This is my dream, I'm in control!" I applaud myself for trying but ultimately failed.

[–]AliasUndercover 0 points1 point ago

That's exactly what I did...

[–]bgb111 0 points1 point ago

I wanna try this, but im scared

[–]OBESEJESUS 0 points1 point ago

I was successful in controlling one of my dreams but I really couldn't do much I still have the same fucking conscience working against me.

[–]010011000111 0 points1 point ago

yup, i know what you mean. good times.

[–]Brendoncherms 0 points1 point ago

what if you arent dreaming, but you think you are and then you try jumping off a building to fly? what if youre dreaming now? or in a coma and we are all apart of your imagination or you of mine?

[–]christiankittens 0 points1 point ago

Oh god that feeling is incredible.

[–]waterbottlez 0 points1 point ago

Protip: don't start lucid dreaming. 4 years of my life completely wasted. Too addictive, spent waking hours coming up with adventures to go on.

[–]DJGMT 0 points1 point ago

dont call me a puss or anything but after hearing/reading so much about this im kinda too afraid to try it because of some of the stuff that ive heard that can go wrong, like it turns into some nightmare or something freaky. i do want to experience the fun, colourful side of lucid dreaming but dont want anything to go wrong. can anybody share their thoughts or experiences with me about the subject. Thanks! :)

[–]robocup 0 points1 point ago

And then I had sex with everything.

[–]Fogram 0 points1 point ago

fuck yes, THIS IS AWESOME!

[–]FrauStorm 0 points1 point ago

I prefer Astral Projection. Same concept but seems more surreal to me.

[–]McDownvoteYou -3 points-2 points ago

i like to rape my mom in my lucid dreams, then i jizz in my dads face

[–]Brendoncherms 0 points1 point ago

me too bro

[–]FatherThyme -1 points0 points ago

How does one get a lucid dream?

[–]Celebrimbor333 -1 points0 points ago

This is really just another excuse to use this same gif again...but it's a damn good reason. +1 for you.

[–]ItsCaretaker -1 points0 points ago

Upvoted for Lucid Dreaming

I know the feel of the first time controlling one. It's absolutely amazing.

[–]JarekBloodDragon -1 points0 points ago

Oh wow, never seen this repost before.

[–]rybread761 -1 points0 points ago

Technically it only becomes lucid once you achieve self awareness

[–]Bellairs -1 points0 points ago

We have to go deeper.

[–]zamboniman46 -1 points0 points ago

want to lucid dream so badly
