One of the biggest non-provable, non-evidence based pieces of atheist rhetoric I have a problem with is the one that claims that belief in an afterlife makes people take this life less seriously.

Anytime anyone makes a decision about the real world based on faith in another world they are providing that evidence. Every hour spent in church, every hour preaching to strangers, every hour convincing thier children that god is real and Jesus saves is an hour that could have been used in the world, for the world. Especially since what they are using up is some of the energy they have to make a difference. Because they do think they are making a difference, even though the energy is wasted.

I dont think this comic is claiming that people who believe in after life don't value life I think it is saying you can see value in meaning in life you just do not need after life or god or religion to make life meaningful. Life has intrinsic value. Theist and atheists alike are welcome to accept this notion. For me when I first became and atheists it was depressing accepting that there was no after life or god then I realized how wonderful life is on its own.
