Mother Fucking Physics!

They have the same angular velocity. Linear velocity is a function of angular velocity and radius. Therefore they can have different linear velocities and not cause the universe to implode upon itself.

Scienced!

LOL I remember my 9th grade physics class too.

they have the same angular velocity, which is expressed in degrees per second or radians per second. additionally, the increased linear speed on the outside is proportional to the path's increased distance.

I thought this was obvious, being somewhat of a science geek

What else is uninteresting?

Well, I smoke marijuana often, but right now I don't have any. So I'm forced to not smoke marijuana. But it's alright; It will make getting high more fun when I do smoke more marijuana. Sheeeeeeeeet

So when we make the point on the label spin at light speed, the point on the outside would be going faster than the speed of light?

[–]colddayinapril[S] 2 points3 points ago

My shakey understanding of physics is that an object with mass can not be accelerated to C (the speed of light in a vacuum). So the inner point could never reach that speed as the outer point would reach maximum velocity before this could happen preventing any further acceleration of the object (this is assuming we have a record that is capable of moving this fast without exploding).

Dealing with a massless vinyl record (made from the harvested back hair of an angel) it would do as you described.

Wouldn't that not be possible as nothing can go faster than the speed of light? Also, do you think it would be different since the angular velocity is the same but the linear velocity is different? I don't know if the behavior of objects approaching c would behave differently spinning in a circle.. Woah.

What's crazy is I thought the thumbnail was a waveform with the last part of it highlighted and inverted

SATELLITES

Well yeah. They have to move at a faster speed so they can make the same number of revolutions per minute. If they both moved at the same speed but didn't have the same RPM - that would be mind blowing.

It's just a bigger arc the farther from the center you go. Learned that in high school...

this doesn't have anything to do with weed
