Replace the fighter jet with a pigeon and you've got a witch doctor!

[–]novagenesis 22 points23 points ago

Cmon be fair. It's a big pigeon with 3 smaller ones flying around it.

[–]Digimonkeisari 26 points27 points ago

.

[–]novagenesis 1 point2 points ago

Witchdoctor!!! He tanks to protect his puppies!

[–]DankDarko 0 points1 point ago

Is it bad that I am apprehensive about clicking this link? You can never tell with links that are just periods.

[–]kennyisthebest 8 points9 points ago

so true ...

[–]Bignut_Squirrel 19 points20 points ago

Mortar is second only to reflect damage as the worst affix possible for a DH.

[–]danielvago 37 points38 points ago

I'm a wizard (and thus a fellow kiter), the single hardest affix is fast.

[–]Inquisitr 9 points10 points ago

This man speaks the truth. Fast is the worst affix ever.

[–]pacman42 5 points6 points ago

Worst part is some shit doesnt even need fast. Snakes, lashers, phasebeasts...

[–]VenomStar 10 points11 points ago

Then you meet one of those already fast mobs with the fast affix and you're fked.

[–]GrammarBeImportant 8 points9 points ago

I've gotten Phase Beasts with fast reflects damage, AND FUCKING HORDE. ON FUCKING HELL. NOT EVEN GOD DAMN INFERNO.

[–]welfaretrain 2 points3 points ago

I apologize for not knowing but what does the horde affix do again?

[–]Quasitron 7 points8 points ago

Horde increases the squad of minions that spawn with a rare monster. So instead of 3 minions, he'll have like 10.

[–]GrammarBeImportant 1 point2 points ago

Yup. Fucking insane.

[–]jevon 3 points4 points ago

At least horde illusionist is fun for archon wizards :D

[–]welfaretrain 0 points1 point ago

Ah ok thank you very much.

[–]danielvago 0 points1 point ago

Soul Lashers/Lickers (what are they called?) with fast... it doesn't even matter what the other 3 affixes are I can't beat them.

I just met a pack of 4 Soul Lashers with fast, shielding, molten, frozen. Could not even begin to damage them, or survive 3 seconds.

[–]serenityunlimited 0 points1 point ago

They just appear out of nowhere... then... then death...

[–]Goldreaver 1 point2 points ago

An act 2-elite L. Hunter (who has mortar by default) can get the mortal suffix? And if it does, does he throw two of them?

[–]pacman42 2 points3 points ago

Yes he does and yes it sucks x2.

[–]Goldreaver 1 point2 points ago

Goddamn

[–]DoniDarkos 0 points1 point ago

mortal??? are u saying that they are basically "immortal" by default? O.o

[–]Goldreaver 2 points3 points ago

They might as well be in Infierno.

Actually, I meant 'mortar'

Fast Extra Health Reflect Damage Molten

Reflect Damage

I don't understand people that complain about this so much - it's incredibly easy to counter this with good LoH or Life/sec.

[–]voze 0 points1 point ago

I don't have enough gold to buy a decent LoH/Lps weapon yet without sacrificing too much DPS. Also, AOE attacks on Reflect Damage mobs as a DH make your health drop like a stone.

[–]KtownKid4121 0 points1 point ago

I guess I'll try out DH one of these days... for now, I'm stuck with an Inferno wizard grinding A1 over and over for enough money for the gear for A2+. Plus, I guess my ~17k DPS doesn't count as a valid argument when it comes to reflect damage being considered easy. What's your DPS/Crit as a DH?

[–]polarityomg 0 points1 point ago

As a DH with 45k dps, 37% crit and +285% crit damage, reflect damage makes me a sad panda if I don't time smoke screen properly. One big crit and I nuke myself.

[–]Hirosakamoto 0 points1 point ago

As a barb, reflect damage is my favorite kinda of mob to find. If anything it makes things easier on me to tank. Reflect my attacks? well overpower/crushing advance reflects back and procs LOH....which then gets reflected...etcetc.

[–]mathlessbrain 0 points1 point ago

Maybe your DPS is low? I can kill myself in a second even with white attacks on my DH if I don't have resist gear on (I run without it). I have 800 LoH and it's not even noticeable.

[–]KtownKid4121 0 points1 point ago

My DPS is really low so that's most likely what's causing y misunderstanding. If I'm lucky I'll hit a 55k crit with arcane orb and any reflected damage is almost instantly restored via ~1500 life/sec. Still stuck on A2 Inferno so I haven't even hit the harder mobs yet.

[–]tordana 0 points1 point ago

As a DH with fairly high DPS and fairly low HP (glass cannon build), I have actually instagibbed myself with a big crit on a reflect damage mob. No amount of life on hit will fix that. Now, you could reply that I just need more HP and that's a valid point.

[–]rameninside 5 points6 points ago

Whereas to monks mortar and ref damage is a joke but frozen/arcane/nightmare/shielding/fire chains will generally fuck you up.

[–]xelf 8 points9 points ago

I'm also not a big fan of molten/desecrate. =(

The number of times a mob has started running away and my monk has pathed right in the molten following him while I try to manually step around it... gah.

[–]NeedKarmaForFood 4 points5 points ago

I'm a barbarian and constantly run into mobs with any 3 of: Mortar, Plagued, Molten, Desecrate, Extra Health, Fast. And just for shits and giggles they are also Shielded, or Immune Minions.

By the time I get close enough to strike, they bubble and drop all kinds of rape on the floor, which lasts until they die. They bubble instantly, and then I'm standing there slashing away at thin air while ignore pain runs out, and my health goes down faster than Facebook stock.

[–]xelf 1 point2 points ago

goes down faster than Facebook stock

I've had a bad day today. Thank you for that, gave me a much needed laugh!

[–]glugglug 1 point2 points ago

Frozen is deadly to my DH but my barb laughs at it. I would have assumed the same for monks. Nightmare, shielding, and especially Arcane are a pain for the barb though. He hasn't gotten up to anything with fire chains yet, I suspect that will be bad as well.

[–]rameninside 4 points5 points ago

Frozen can be deadly in confined spaces when serenity is on cooldown and there are lasers flying everywhere.

[–]BabyNinjaJesus 0 points1 point ago

With bab you can just leap over the frozen explosion and youll get the debuff but you wont get frozen, makes you feel like a boss cos theres only like a .75~ window or something

[–]LogicalWhiteKnight 2 points3 points ago

I laugh at frozen with my DH, it is a very easy to avoid mechanic. Waller is more annoying, especially when combined with arcane or frozen, or even molten/plagued in some cases.

I just SS at the right time for frozen, or dodge out of the way with vault.

[–]penguinman1337 0 points1 point ago

Frozen and wallers aren't really an issue for my wizard. Just makes teleport mandatory in the build

[–]serenityunlimited 0 points1 point ago

As a barbarian, it always pleases me when a monster has mortar. It makes me extremely sad when said monster also has knockback, nightmarish and horde -- as Unentombed Hulks just did for me. That is a bad time. Smacks you away, launches a million mortars mortars in your face, which causes you to flee, which puts you in range of their mortars again...

[–]Piees 3 points4 points ago

Dont know why not more people use shadow power with gloom rune, reflect dmg is such a joke

[–]PleaseDontStalkMe 2 points3 points ago

This does help. Also in some situations you can, GASP, tank for a short period of time.

[–]boinGfliP14 0 points1 point ago

I bought a decent life steal / life on hit weapon and use jagged spikes caltrops. Slows them while also healing me and damaging them. I'd rather keep my disc. for ss.

[–]LogicalWhiteKnight 0 points1 point ago

I'd rather keep my disc. for ss.

You say that, but then you use caltrops to damage enemies?

I guess I just don't understand why people waste 6 disc on caltrops, as a DH who kites with no slows. I don't feel the need to slow enemies in order to kite them with tactical advantage, SS, vault/acrobatics, and prep/backup plan, on top of that using companion bat or rain of arrows/stampede, and hungering/devouring arrow and impale/overpenetration.

[–]boinGfliP14 0 points1 point ago

I don't spam caltrops for damage. I throw one down for each encounter and kite around them. The 6 disc. is almost negligible as it will regenerate by the time something reaches me and it also allows me to regenerate with life on hit for those pesky reflect damage mobs. I would much rather use cull the weak combined with my traps than use tactical advantage. I find vault to be a complete waste as well for the same reason.

[–]LogicalWhiteKnight -1 points0 points ago

Because unless you are already built to tank with resists and vit (which most people are not), shadow power + gloom is 100% worthless for anything but reflect damage mobs.

I don't take it because I can't justify losing something like vault or companion bat for a skill I only use on 1/6 or less of champion packs. I just SS and shoot them while invulnerable, then run away and regen discipline, slow but effective.

This is mainly because I have 10k hp and about 45 all resist.

[–]tordana 1 point2 points ago

I like how you were getting downvoted. This is completely true, and what I do to deal with it. I'm CERTAINLY not getting rid of SS or Prep, and I don't like losing the bat or the crit caltrops.

[–]OhMyGoodie 1 point2 points ago

Reflects damage invunerable minions mortar.

Yea that was that 30 mins of diablo I'm out.

[–]cesare980 0 points1 point ago

Waller in narrow dungeons is rough too.

[–]theresafire 0 points1 point ago

IDK if its a bug, but I play melee wizard, normally mortar =haha funny ima ignore that affix completely because it doesn't mean squat.

But lately, I've ran into quite a few mortar+waller mobs, and that is literally GAME OVER for melee. Wall gets tossed up behind you and all the sudden Mortar has no min range. The mortar goes straight up and lands on my feet because of the wall behind me, pure rapage.

SCREW mortar+waller, doesn't matter what the other two affixes are, its melee death.

[–]BabyNinjaJesus 0 points1 point ago

Yea wall is a actual wall and mortars wont go over it, just hug the mob more

[–]Th4t9uy 0 points1 point ago

I found there is normally a sweet spot you can stand in that puts you inside the minimum range of mortar but outside smack distance.

Unfortunately, this usually goes tits up when there's more than one mob.

[–]Zyvexal 0 points1 point ago

Oh idunno... wallers and teleports are pretty bad.

[–]MrBarragan 7 points8 points ago

I'm sick of these motherfucking snakes in this motherfucking act!

[–]PleaseDontStalkMe 10 points11 points ago

Oh you're invisible.. now where did you go....

MOTHA FUCKIN SURPRISE, YOU'RE DEAD.

[–]MrBarragan 8 points9 points ago

those fuckers... I can handle normal ones. It's when you get an elite pack of them with reflect damage and some other horseshit affix that I just throw my club

[–]PleaseDontStalkMe 6 points7 points ago

My buddy and I just beat Zulton last night and 80% of the time we were fine, but those invisible snakes haunt my dreams. So much gold lost.

[–]GhostNanite 12 points13 points ago

As a barb I don't understand your plight, turn that plane around the enemy you are trying to kill is in the other direction.

[–]juggernaut1107 10 points11 points ago

Only class that can do hundreds of thousands of dps...

TIL Cluster Arrow > Twin Chakrams

[–]LogicalWhiteKnight 1 point2 points ago

Dude everything is better than twin chakrams. If they could actually hit stuff it might be a different story. I use impale/overpentration, also much better than twin chakrams.

[–]Myrandall 1 point2 points ago

Impale with Overpenetration is awesome, but I think you might be underestimating the brute force of a Twin Chakram spam. It barely costs any Hatred compared to Cluster and Impale and with a large radius (and 2x 100% damage) they're highly effective against larger groups.

I swap it with Overpenetration Impale now and then, but I always keep coming back to it.

[–]LogicalWhiteKnight 1 point2 points ago

I guess I don't feel the need to have a spell with that large of AOE, impale/overpentrate is fine for groups if you kite with SS and use positioning and corners to funnel the enemies into a line.

[–]Myrandall 0 points1 point ago

That's true. I'm not a very patient DH, relying mostly on Chakram spam, Fan of Knives and Vault when kiting...

[–]glugglug 1 point2 points ago

I also used twin shakrams up until level 55ish. It can do amazing damage when the mobs are lined up, especially in hallways.

When I first got ball lightning, I think the first mobs I tried it against were quick movers in an open area and they just moved out of the way? Tried ball lightning again after reading people switching to it from the nether tentacles nerf and it is better than the chakrams -- seems like about the same average AE damage, but in large packs of mobs it is better working its way around corners & such and it seems to burn through the hatred slower.

For belial in nightmare and hell I used the poison chakram rune instead of the twin shakrams. Its slow moving but does more damage, and he can't move out of the way since he occupies half the screen (at least for his third stage).

[–]tordana 1 point2 points ago

If you use chakrams, grab a chest piece with -chakram cost on it. I don't really use them, but my Natalya's chest has -4 chakram cost which makes them fairly hilarious. I can spam them nearly infinitely with a bat.

[–]Myrandall 0 points1 point ago

That's a good tip, I'll be on the lookout for those in the AH!

Actually, I already have a lvl 63 Chest with great stats (84 Dex, 117 Vital, 3 Sockets, some bonus stats), it'll be hard to find something that's even near an upgrade for under 1 million... :P

[–][deleted] ago

[–]Myrandall 1 point2 points ago

Twin Chakrams do 2 x 100% and cost less Hatred than Cluster.

Or in your words...

can u even read?

EDIT: Owned so hard he deleted his comment in shame

[–]Coldspyros 1 point2 points ago

Except, you know, he has millions worth of gear on him, which is why he uses a build that takes away all of his discipline.

The rest of us, who don't have followers donating gear worth over 50m in total have to find other ways to do DPS. :)

[–]juggernaut1107 0 points1 point ago

Get off Reddit and start farming! Gear is obtainable by all.

[–]Coldspyros 0 points1 point ago

Hahahaha, ok. I'll just go ahead and add to my now 20+ hours of farm time on Act I. Sure is fun and good here with no gear.

[–]juggernaut1107 0 points1 point ago

I've farmed Act 1 for like 30 hours total and I've made over 5 mil with the items that I got O_o

[–]LogicalWhiteKnight 0 points1 point ago

Only class? Really now... http://www.twitch.tv/chango99/b/321946489

There is a 150k dps wizard, post nerf. There are also several who have broken 200k.

[–]juggernaut1107 0 points1 point ago

Impressive, nice to see.

[–]pacman42 1 point2 points ago

Protip: smokescreen breaks snares.

[–]MOVES_HYPHENS 0 points1 point ago

Just wait... that nerf is coming

[–]mequals1m1w 3 points4 points ago

Playing DH is like managed fleeing.

[–]witha_ph 1 point2 points ago

Demon Hunters - Playing Diablo3 1 step forward, 3 vaults backwards since 2012.

[–]Vegas3t 4 points5 points ago

As a demon hunter, I can confirm this.

[–]Ditrixgaming 1 point2 points ago

yeah i feel like kiting is next ot impossible against most elite packs , especially extra fast, molten, or teleporting .... my demon hunter is canned till some tweaks

[–]pcour2 1 point2 points ago

I find this very true :(

[–]nivvydaskrl 1 point2 points ago

I'm the least demon-huntery demon hunter ever, I swear. I dodge nothing. >.>

[–]clubdrift123 1 point2 points ago

Nope... I'm right there with you.

[–]clubdrift123 1 point2 points ago

This game was fun as a Demon Hunter, and this latest patch just made me say fuck no I'm staying on Act II and making a Monk.

[–]Kathend1 2 points3 points ago

Try rollin a wizard...

[–]BracedPolecat 0 points1 point ago

actually that's what Ace Combat 4 practically is like on hard difficulty, but i get the analogy ;)

[–]Stomo -1 points0 points ago

I do not pity you. You have ranged attacks and can shoot from any distance. As a monk, this is silly.

[–]judah0304 -1 points0 points ago
