I don't know if that's where it started. Back in the day it seemed much harder to verify information on the internet, so there were all kinds of rumors floating around. This was probably the most prevalent, aside from maybe Mew being under the truck.

I actually miss that. You look for video game walkthroughs now, and there is almost no false information, unless you go out of your way to find it. I didn't believe very many of them (this was one of the only two I remember actually believing), but I remember me and my friend trying some because we had nothing better to do, on the off chance that we were wrong and something really did happen.

It's an experience that simply doesn't exist anymore, and I wish I heard more of these when I was gullible enough to believe them. The first time I heard about Mew being under the truck, it was already just an old rumor, and I only recently heard of the Pokegods.

Back then, Pokemon was really the only game I got into at the time, so now I'm curious. Did other games have rumors like these, or was it just a Pokemon thing?
