No, but it was a psychological thing, and we all thought that if we didn't do something then the Pokémon would definitely escape.

I've heard various ways as how to ensure that you catch the Pokémon, but nothing actually work. Holding B + down is the most common rumor I've personally heard.

Few if any pictures on the internet actually make me laugh. Some that others find funny make me smile. This actually did the job. It was the combination of familiarity and absurd/extreme interpretation that did it.

When I was younger , I loved Pokèmon. I mean who didn't? Ok well I was trying to catch I think a Pikachu.. (I fucking LOVE Pikachu) and the ball failed , and I smashed the gameboy over my head... And it broke. I was sad. :(

Similar story here: I'd been camping in Moon Tunnel for a Clefairy for what seemed like DAYS (I was nine, so it was probably 20 minutes or so). One FINALLY appeared and I fought it down and hit THROW BALL...only to get the message that MY FUCKING POKEMON BOX WAS FULL. In my tiny child rage I threw my gameboy off the top bunk where I was laying, and when I climbed down to get it the screen was broken. Good lesson in impulse control.

TL;DR: Fuck Clefairy.

You guys are all wrong. This actually worked but on the initial US copies of Red and Blue. You'd press Down + B right when the ball hit the pokemon and it increased your chances based on the ball you used. The crappier the ball, the better the bonuses but to a cap. I abused Great Balls for everrrrrrr with this.
