PLEASE TELL ME YOUR THEORYUNSUPPORTED HYPOTHESIS ABOUT THE EARTH BEING 6000 YEARS OLD

Please don't use the word "theory" when you mean "hypothesis". It only encourages the "yeah, well, evolution's only a theory" crowd.

And, please don't use the word 'law' when all scientific laws are theories. It only encourages the, "Yeah, well, evolution's only a theory" crowd.

all scientific laws are theories

Laws are formulations that describe what happens. Theories are rather larger bodies of knowledge that can include laws, and which attempt to explain why or how things happen.

For example - Newton's law of universal gravitation states simply that "Every point mass attracts every single other point mass by a force pointing along the line intersecting both points. The force is proportional to the product of the two masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them" or, as an equation,

F = G (m1 . m 2) / r2

The theory of gravity, however, attempts to describe the nature of gravity, how it arises, how it works on the very largest and very smallest scales, how it propagates through space, and so on.

The term 'law' isn't used in science anymore (e.g., isn't applied to new theories that would once have been called laws). Where it is used, it's used as a legacy term. Today, the term 'law' is synonymous with 'theory' in the scientific world.

Please don't assume all homeschoolers are religious and uneducated. I was homeschooled for medical reasons, and now attend college through their (mostly)online courses. I am and always have been an atheist.

All 4 of my kids are homeschooled. I really hate that they are labeled as christian idiots. We belong to a fantastic secular group. In fact, we weren't allowed in several of the regional homeschool groups, because those groups would have required us to sign a declaration of faith.

Not all homeschoolers are religious freaks. I homeschool, take science courses, and don't believe in god.

Good god, flashback to my childhood there! I was home schooled K-12, only given creationist "science" books, and only got out of the house to go to church. The same semester I started college, I suddenly realized that there's actually a rational way to think. Fast forward a few years and now I'm an atheist math tutor working on a physics degree. The best part is, now I finally know that I'm not selling my intelligence short by pretending to believe in the most horrifying fairly tale ever penned.

Most home school kids I know are more advanced than me. I live in South Florida we're most home school kids are home schooled do to the shitty schools. I've met religious ones and I understand why there's a big stereotype on home schooled children since most home schooled text books are more christian based. Just never judge a book by it's cover really.

PS: The film RV combats this stereotype in a way.

The scariest part about this is how they demand you take it as seriously as evolution.

This is the stuff that doesn't belong on here, its what gives us a bad name. I understand the concept of stupid ideas being worthy of ridicule, however this is just pushing the message that all religious people are uneducated whether you meant it, or not. Remember: the religion deserves no respect, but the people do.

Are you also friends with Joe? I had to explain radio-carbon dating to this dude once. Put down the bible, you read it, you didn't get it... Good, now subscribe to Popular Science.

I was homeschooled by my dad Jesus. He taught me calculus in 6th grade, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Boring.
