Only a Canadian subreddit would have a whole post and comment thread about the weather across the country.

[–]jonusfatson[S] 7 points8 points ago

[–]boredcanadian 0 points1 point ago

Highway 16? Near Vanderhoof?

[–]jonusfatson[S] 3 points4 points ago

This is in Sicamous. The Shuswap is flooding currently.

Kamloops is on flood alert as well.

[–]boredcanadian 1 point2 points ago

I see. There was a mudslide earlier today that washed out part of a highway and covered the rest in 3ft of mud. The whole province is apparently washing away.

[–]2cats2hats 35 points36 points ago

You would have felt the same way in Calgary today.

[–]Raidax 7 points8 points ago

Holy hell, do I ever agree with you there. I was out in that all damn night. Left my gills at home and everything.

[–]CANADIANxPUNKx 2 points3 points ago

actually we wouldn't because all we get is fucking rain. summer, fall, winter, spring. 365 days a year. it's endless. It's a vicious circle.

[–]Yossarian33 4 points5 points ago

It's a vicious circle.

I don't think that means what you think it means.

[–]CANADIANxPUNKx 1 point2 points ago

Whoops, i meant to put cycle instead of circle

[–]Yossarian33 0 points1 point ago

Even then, a vicious cycle implies some sort of positive feedback, i.e. you get angry, so you make a mistake, which makes you more angry, so you make more mistakes...etc.

Endless bad weather is not a vicious cycle, it's just unfortunate.

[–]CANADIANxPUNKx 0 points1 point ago

It causes bad things. For example, it's been raining so much where i live, my cousin is evacuation list due to the chance of a flood and as soon as it stops raining and we get sun, too much snow melts and the risk of a flood rises. That's what i mean by vicious cycle.

[–]alpain 1 point2 points ago

its still raining!!! holy crap.

[–]proudcanadianeh 0 points1 point ago

That storm passed over where I am camping to get to you. I don't feel bad for you.

[–]thefiercestofwolves 54 points55 points ago

As someone in Toronto who detests the heat, I envy you.

[–]sebtoast 12 points13 points ago

It was 30+ in Montreal for the last few days, got the worst sunburn in years but I still LOVE THE HEAT! Bring it on!

We get snow for like 10 months every year, enjoy the few days of heat :)

[–]soar 1 point2 points ago

Omg, the last week in MTL was brutal. I like heat but not when it's 40+ with the humidity. Thankfully it's going down this week.

Oh, and, MTL reporting in!

[–]Jayross 6 points7 points ago

NYC checking in, it kinda sucks here. I almost wish I was back in BC.

[–]CANADIANxPUNKx 9 points10 points ago

no you don't

[–]Cyndermissany 18 points19 points ago

So, you feel wet and sexy? That's why I got from your image.

[–]macdonaldhall 2 points3 points ago

I'll stand in the wet with that man any day of the week. Too bad he's dating his daughter (and outta my league, to boot).

[–]LittleToast 0 points1 point ago

Wait, he's pulling the ol' Woody Allen too?

[–]macdonaldhall 0 points1 point ago

'Daughter'. He's dating the actress who played his daughter in "The Doctor's Daughter".

[–]LittleToast 0 points1 point ago

Ohh, okay. That makes sense!

[–]MarleyK9 17 points18 points ago

Last night there was a crazy thunderstorm where I live (Okanagan), and my dad was texting me about how nice and sunny it was up where he is in Nunavut. I feel your pain.

[–]perogies 18 points19 points ago

Yeah but he's in Nunavut.. And fuck that.

[–]lrggg 2 points3 points ago

Remember when June's were sunny? Pretty soon we won't :(

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Why?

[–]psychiccheese 7 points8 points ago

Because it's almost July

[–]Kerrigore 4 points5 points ago

Which will erase our memories of sunny Junes?

[–]Ebenzer 1 point2 points ago

Climate change?

[–]Maniacal 0 points1 point ago

Yeah actually, most of this June. There have been a few days of rain but overall it has been mostly overcast or sunny which has been great since my current job is all outside and a bit of cloud cover is perfect since it doesn't get too hot or too bright.

[–]OleSlappy 2 points3 points ago

Man it was crazy. I have near felt the thunder so near; was shaking my whole house.

[–]Sgt_Squid 0 points1 point ago

I was on steam with a couple of friends when this one really loud lightning struck. My friend reacted first, being on the west side, and I heard it a couple seconds later. Apparently, it shook his entire basement enough to warrant investigation. Turns out he was one of the few streets who still had power, and could look over all the blacked out homes. It was an interesting night.

[–]Vnv37 0 points1 point ago

Hell yesterday morning the north okanagan had thunder. It was ugly and pissing down rain until like 7 then nice.

[–]fourstates 14 points15 points ago

This summer is the last straw. This is FUCKING BULLSHIT. I've waited all year for this, and the summer's already half past. (I consider Summer May-September.) I'm moving.

[–]folkshade 9 points10 points ago

BC isn't for the weak.

[–]wanked_in_space 4 points5 points ago

September is the best month weather wise in Vancouver. You must be new.

[–]fourstates 1 point2 points ago

No, fool, it ain't. I've been here all my life. I remember golden Mays and Junes. It's about since 6 or so years ago that the weather has really slumped.

[–]unreleased 1 point2 points ago

well, that's one less car in traffic.

[–]ReasonableRadio 7 points8 points ago

I fucking wish I was in a rainstorm. I can't go upstairs in my house here in Toronto from danger of heatstroke.

[–]triceratops3 6 points7 points ago

Nova Scotia has been just been one big pile of shit all month. 13 degrees today

[–]theshindig 1 point2 points ago

Meh, yesterday was good.

[–]tomorrowboy 1 point2 points ago

Yesterday it rained!

[–]theshindig 1 point2 points ago

That wasn't yesterday when I posted ha.

[–]tomorrowboy 0 points1 point ago

My fault for getting up Sunday morning I guess : )

[–]Mescalero 6 points7 points ago

A single drop of water, forever bouncing from lip to nose

[–]wlonkly 0 points1 point ago

Once you notice the nosedrip, that's all you can see in this gif.

[–]OTOPIAN 9 points10 points ago

It's ok, you should hit 70 hours of sunlight this month by the end of it :)

[–]CANADIANxPUNKx -1 points0 points ago

lies

[–]h0ser 4 points5 points ago

I love the mild weather. I hear about how hot it is right now in the east and I'm thankful I live in the west. If you're cold you can always put on a jacket, if you're too hot you can't take off your skin.

[–]Triassic_Bark 4 points5 points ago

I felt the same until today, when the sun shone through and it was one of the nicest days on Haida Gwaii that I've experienced in 3 years!

[–]LordNathan604 3 points4 points ago

...but I like the rain!

[–]penthehuman 21 points22 points ago

Nope, I just moved to BC from Ottawa, I'd much prefer the rain to 44°C with humidity.

[–]d6chung 2 points3 points ago

How about all three? That's central Florida for you! It's hot, humid, and the rain makes it more humid! Can't wait to get out of here...

[–]sixteen12 5 points6 points ago

Funny I moved to Ottawa from Victoria and I fully disagree.

[–]penthehuman 21 points22 points ago

To each their own, but for me, if there's one thing I hate more than snow and cold, it's excess heat. I am happiest between 5 and 20 degrees

[–]ab26 3 points4 points ago

Max 15 for me.

[–]folkshade 1 point2 points ago

Victorian here. Yeah, most of us love the year-long rain.

[–]plangmuir 1 point2 points ago

In the summer (July-August) Victoria's actually one of the driest places in the country. I can't wait.

[–]folkshade 0 points1 point ago

That's a misleading stat. It actually drizzles frequently, but the actual rain levels are quite low.

[–]RyVal 0 points1 point ago

the grass is always greener on the other side of the country. That is why PEI is the greatest place on earth and can suck my dick!

[–]2bass 1 point2 points ago

My boyfriend moved to Ottawa from BC 4 or 5 years ago, and he hated it the first year. The heat/humidity made him throw up almost every day because he wasn't used to it, then he'd get awful nose bleeds all winter because of the dryness...He seems to have adapted now though!

[–]XaroXhoanDucksauce 1 point2 points ago

then he'd get awful nose bleeds all winter because of the dryness

If this is still happening, tell him to go see an ears nose and throat specialist. I was the same way in the winter, and it turned out I had an exposed blood vessel.

[–]2bass 1 point2 points ago

It's a lot better now. He'll still get occasional nosebleeds, but maybe 4-5 times a year as opposed to 4-5 times a week like before.

[–]Vipensan 7 points8 points ago

I'm from BC as well. Feel your pain.

[–]jonusfatson[S] 2 points3 points ago

Ok. Here's the wettest city in Canada.

It should also be known that people move here that are allergic to the sun.

[–]Norrstjarnan 2 points3 points ago

As someone who has spent her life in Southern California, I'll trade you for BC any day. I saw the thunderclouds in Edmonton today. Moving there next month. Cant wait for rain!

[–]fourstates 0 points1 point ago

Let's switch places. I'm in Van. Where are you?

[–]Norrstjarnan 1 point2 points ago

Southern California. Moving to Edmonton next month though.

[–]XaroXhoanDucksauce 0 points1 point ago

Uh-oh. Have you been here during winter? Last winter we had a solid week of -45C weather.

[–]Norrstjarnan 0 points1 point ago

Haha, I've been there in October and February, both times I was lucky. I am aware of the crazy cold weather Edmonton gets, but I have my Viking to keep me warm: :)

[–]TheIsotope 2 points3 points ago

That's how I feel when someone in Vancouver is telling me how great the Canucks are. I'm from Toronto.

[–]thisseemslegit 1 point2 points ago

Oddly, this comment makes the Junuary pain hurt a little bit less. At least we have something to look forward to in October after lamenting about only having 6 days of summer all year.

[–]JohnnyFootballHero 2 points3 points ago

When I moved to Vancouver a few years ago what struck me most is how casual Vancouverites are when it does rain.

There's a cavalier dismissal of the event, almost like a, "It's raining? I didn't even notice."

I feel I must master this level of indifference before I can become one of them.

[–]The_King_of_the_Moon 1 point2 points ago

It's just water. I don't even use an umbrella, I just deal with it.

[–]TemplesOfSyrinx 1 point2 points ago

I was in the states recently. Weather was about 18 degrees and it started to sprinkle a little bit. I couldn't believe how many rain jackets and umbrellas I started seeing. I was fine in my t-shirt and shorts.

[–]quaintbucket 1 point2 points ago

Yeah that's about right.

[–]MichaelTiberiusScot 1 point2 points ago

Because of an injury I sustained at the beginning of the month I haven't been able to play outside as much as I normally do so the shitty weather makes me feel so much better.

[–]Ebenzer 0 points1 point ago

I'm glad you're making the best of the situation.

[–]Quaytsar 1 point2 points ago

I wish I had rain. I'm far enough north that, even though my bedroom's window is on the north side of the house, the Sun shines through it every day, twice a day, in the early morning and late evening, when I'm trying to sleep. It sucks.

[–]dorkofthepolisci 1 point2 points ago

It might not be sunny, but at least it only rains for an hour or so, and then its just gloomy (and your clothes are completely soaked, because it rained 5 minutes after you decided to walk to starbucks to buy coffee)

But at least we're not all melting from the heat right?

[–]MrHax_ 1 point2 points ago

Stopped raining in Victoria but the forecast says it will start up again soon. Oh well, I love the rain and cooler weather.

[–]jlanzobr 1 point2 points ago

You feel like The Doctor?! You couldn't be winning any harder in that case.

[–]azumakazuma 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I feel no sympathy for you in this case.

Seriously though, awesome reference.

[–]oh_okay_ 1 point2 points ago

I moved to London, UK in January.

I know that feel, bro.

[–]rutabegaturnip 1 point2 points ago

I feel the same way in Halifax. No smog, just fog!

[–]FightinVitamin 1 point2 points ago

It's been gorgeous in St. John's all week: sunny, mid 20's. Welcome to bizarro world.

[–]mamid 1 point2 points ago

A friend who moved from BC to somewhere in the hot south of the states started to bitch this week about how it is 101F or higher. We told her to move back here.

[–]gavriloe 1 point2 points ago

Who are we kidding, the fact we are on reddit proves we haven't actually left our houses all day.

[–]Chionophile 4 points5 points ago

Hey, I'm not complaining. I'd rather this than it being hot.

[–]Magice 0 points1 point ago

The way it works is it pours rain and or is overcast to mid to late july, then hits you hard with 30 degree un enjoyable heat for a month.

[–]Maniacal 1 point2 points ago

It hasn't even rained that much (on the west coast anyway), just a day or two a week and even then I'd hardly call most of that rain.

[–]Magice 1 point2 points ago

Every 2nd day.. can't really go camping and enjoy it.

[–]cdnav8r 8 points9 points ago

Still better than living in Toronto... :P

[–]Canadave 33 points34 points ago

'Cause no one could possibly enjoy living in Toronto.

[–]Aozora012 7 points8 points ago

I hate it so much that I wouldn't want to move out of Toronto even if offered a better job.

[–]kyookumbah 12 points13 points ago

Hey, we're Canadians. Our national identity is that of a simple, outdoorsy and cold-loving folk, even though percentage-wise more of us are urbanized than Spain, Germany, France, or Japan. It's impossible to actually enjoy being in a big city (except when traveling overseas for vacation of course), and even hearing someone say they like Toronto is threatening to our self-image. We like hockey, Tim Hortons, and nothing else. We're not supposed to enjoy having a variety of food, shopping, entertainment and cultural experiences at our doorstep!

[–]Aozora012 5 points6 points ago

Of course not! I'd love nothing more than move back to my hometown where the closest convenience store was a 20 minute drive away and my closest neighbour was a kilometre away!

[–]kyookumbah 5 points6 points ago

And remember the one bar that everyone from high school went to? The one that only played either classic rock or top 40? And driving everywhere because it was the only way to get around, even though there wasn't anything interesting or worthwhile to drive to anyway? And having people stare you down if you walked? Oh those halcyon days.

[–]SaltFrog 0 points1 point ago

Toronto gives me anxiety attacks... much too big. If I was to live there for several years I imagine I'd adapt.

[–]stoptryingtobecute 7 points8 points ago

uh oh looks like you hurt some feelings over there in the centre of the universe.

[–]rbridson 20 points21 points ago

You say "centre of" as if Toronto doesn't encompass everything you could possibly want - I'm confused.

[–]TemplesOfSyrinx -1 points0 points ago

Canada's answer to Cleveland.

[–]pokie6 3 points4 points ago

I lived in a very rainy city most of my life (Vladivostok). I would give much to live in one again. Fuck Californian heat.

[–]gavriloe 0 points1 point ago

Hey, I've been wondering for a while, how do you pronounce that name?

[–]pokie6 0 points1 point ago

[–]proudbedwetter 1 point2 points ago

BEST PLACE ON EARTH

[–]Neumann347 0 points1 point ago

Man, do I wish I could accuse you of being a Vancouver snob.

  • Resident of an interior town with a 20 mm rainfall warning. :(

[–]randomcanadian 1 point2 points ago

Also resident of interior town with similar rainfall warning. This hasn't been much of a summer yet.

[–]deeeteee 0 points1 point ago

amen to that

[–]DZ302 0 points1 point ago

Why did you use the nose drip one?

[–]Evthma 0 points1 point ago

It has been raining non stop here in Kamloops, usually it's dry this time of year.

[–]Chakks 0 points1 point ago

My softball games were canceled today in Kamloops because of the rain. :(

[–]Evthma 0 points1 point ago

Luckily my fencing lessons were inside.

[–]gavriloe 0 points1 point ago

They would have been way more epic outside.

[–]Evthma 0 points1 point ago

It may have been, the roof was leaking all over.

[–]Shomud 0 points1 point ago

I live in Kamloops and I much prefer the rain of late over the heat.

[–]Trembelwick 0 points1 point ago

Hold on a min let me check outside...

Yup still raining, seems legit.

[–]HunCity87 0 points1 point ago

Kamloops here, this pic has been me for the past week. I'm not complaining though, could be 30* and sunny...hate the heat

[–]dunegig 0 points1 point ago

It's ridiculous how much water they have to use to simulate rain and make it show up well on camera.

[–]muchonacho 0 points1 point ago

It seems like some asshole out there has made it a daily ritual to point at the Chief.

[–]Vnv37 0 points1 point ago

I live near Vernon. Flood warnings for basically the past two weeks. The reason the rain is irritating is because the okanagan is known for being sunny and hot.

[–]ryank_119 1 point2 points ago

I'm there too. We're used to fire warnings this time of year, not floods.

[–]alive25 0 points1 point ago

Just wait until winter and they get negative temperatures.

[–]Jewllz 0 points1 point ago

It has been a very very wet spring in calgary too. But they do say in Vancouver you don't tan you rust.

[–]fulltreesalchemist 0 points1 point ago

Newfoundland is pretty much the same as BC when it comes to rain.

[–]IHateShorts 5 points6 points ago

Not really. It stops raining in Newfoundland sometimes.

When it snows.

[–]Wizardis 0 points1 point ago

I personally prefer the Vancouver climate including the rain. Its just so hot and humid in Ottawa.

[–]le_canuck 0 points1 point ago

Not going to lie, I was expecting a flood joke.

[–]BradAusrotas 0 points1 point ago

London has been pleasant all weekend long. It cooled off on Friday to the perfect mid-twenties seasonal average and I've been digging it as much as possible before we get back to the 40 degree heat with enough humidity to choke a fish.

[–]turbulentscar 0 points1 point ago

Just another day in Vancouver, did you know umbrellas are a fashion statement here?

[–]TemplesOfSyrinx 1 point2 points ago

Gortex, baby.

Anyone using an umbrella on the West Coast is a newbie.

[–]CJMRTN12 0 points1 point ago

Calgary too. Also, Toronto warm is disgusting. 40 degrees and so fucking humid.

[–]newcomplaint 0 points1 point ago

It's not a nice warm. But I hate rain more.

[–]morebinkies 0 points1 point ago

and no sun again today.

[–]Ahundred 0 points1 point ago

The same dichotomy exists in the states, it is 10 in Seattle right now. This has happened three years in a row, we like to call it "Junuary." What eases the pain are these two things: Firstly, it's always blisteringly hot everywhere else in the country while we're sipping coffee and walking around in scarves and sweaters, and two, we kind of like wallowing in depressing weather in Seattle anyway. We're kind of melancholy if you haven't noticed.

[–]hearforthepuns 0 points1 point ago

Seattle and Vancouver have practically the same weather. June-uary is all too familiar here in Vancouver. :(

[–]proudcanadianeh 0 points1 point ago

At least you are not laying in a tent listening to yet another storm go over, where everything is so wet you have given up hope of a fire and feeling warm until you can get home.

[–]Kiadawg 0 points1 point ago

so don't go camping anymore

[–]the_cucumber 0 points1 point ago

Aw, that actually made my heart hurt a little bit. I feel super guilty never bringing a sweater out with me for "just in case" weather (in Montreal), meanwhile all my friends on both coasts are miserable :( I try not to rub it in though. We've all been there.

[–]itzGeo 0 points1 point ago

i feel the same way...

[–]Dancingtoes16 0 points1 point ago

I grew up in BC often thinking the weather was shit.

And then I did my undergrad at MUN in St. John's, NL. You just don't know shitty weather until your school shuts down for a hurricane and a crazy blizzard in the same semester.

[–]offensivegrandma 0 points1 point ago

He forgot to mention all the smog! I sure do not miss that!

[–]illmatix 0 points1 point ago

yeah we're getting that same weather in Calgary. Although I don't mind it i just wish there were +15's everywhere through the city.

[–]giraffebacon 0 points1 point ago

downvote because of ass sweat

[–]jonusfatson[S] 0 points1 point ago

I, I don't know if I should upvote your comment or not...

[–]LadyCaiti 0 points1 point ago

I feel your pain, I live in the Okanagan and it has been down pouring like crazy :/

[–]wheredoitype 0 points1 point ago

Nova scotia is also wet.

[–]vegnagunX2 0 points1 point ago

Its sunny and hot in pg today. Rained last night at about 9 though

[–]scubadee1 0 points1 point ago

Fuck that. Go to Tofino and surf ya whiney why-i-oughta!

[–]SaltFrog 0 points1 point ago

North of Sault Ste. Marie, ON - 16.3c, black flies are eating me alive.

[–]Kitchenfire 0 points1 point ago

Anything's better than Saskatchewan.

[–]danthemango 0 points1 point ago

Today in Nanaimo, I went to work in the rain at 7am. The sun came out at around 9am and stayed up until the afternoon (hot Sunny day, 23 degrees). When I finished at 7pm (12h shift), the sky became cloudy again and I drove home in the rain...again.

[–]CANADIANxPUNKx 0 points1 point ago

we had a thunderstorm today, wind knocked out my power, so i had to cook dinner on the bbq. went to the bathroom for 2 minutes, while i was gone it started PISSING rain and it put out the flame in the bbq. seriously, i need a vacation.

[–]GuyFleegman 0 points1 point ago

TIL BC only includes Vic and lower mainland.

[–]nix-xon -1 points0 points ago

Oh man, an appropriate use for this gif finally! It's been so over used lately I've started to get sick of it, but this actually made me laugh out loud! Well done!

[–]CANADIANxPUNKx -5 points-4 points ago

i hate the people here. they complain when we get snow (if we get snow), they complain when we get rain. they complain when we get sun. they fucking complain when we get overcast. nothing pleases you people. so just shut up about the weather already.

[–]kestaa 5 points6 points ago

So, you complain about the weather ("went to the bathroom for 2 minutes, while i was gone it started PISSING rain and it put out the flame in the bbq. seriously, i need a vacation."), and then not 15 minutes later tell people to "shut up about the weather already".

I find your erratic behaviour interesting...

[–]CANADIANxPUNKx -3 points-2 points ago

i explained what happened, then i said i could use a vacation. but i didn't complain about it.

[–]kestaa 1 point2 points ago

That's debatable, I guess. It can certainly be read that way, even if that wasn't your intention. In any case, you definitely didn't "shut up about" it.

[–]CANADIANxPUNKx -2 points-1 points ago

i like hot/sunny weather, but i don't complain about what weather i get. i just find it annoying when people complain about every type of weather. i think people that complain about everything should shut up. they're lucky to be living in a place like canada. and i didn't shut up because i wasn't complaining about the weather. i was complaining about people complaining about the weather. now my brain hurts.
