Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

[–]ohsnapitspat 482 points483 points ago

They have since updated the bridge.

[–]InClassAccount 457 points458 points ago

That new bridge just ruins the entire atmosphere.

[–]TakingKarmaFromABaby 420 points421 points ago

Safety regulations ruin everything.

[–]SmartViking 242 points243 points ago

Like condoms

[–]NathanArizona 129 points130 points ago

fucking Bin Laden

[–]alpacafox 72 points73 points ago

I hope you use protection.

[–]SkinII 19 points20 points ago

If they'd been wearing protection this never would have happened.

[–]aspeenat 1 point2 points ago

probably why they had the kids stand on a rickety bridge in the first place.

[–]GoodGuyAnusDestroyer 6 points7 points ago

What's this protection you speak of?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

You are now being monitored by NSA. Next time you must elaborate that you are not fucking him, just fuck him.

[–]mkensington 18 points19 points ago

Says overly attached boyfriend.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points ago

I'm not sure why it would have to be metal for safety, I'm sure a proper wood bridge isn't that hard to make

[–]aywwts4 5 points6 points ago

Exactly, the issue with that bridge is the railings are providing no structural support and the whole bridge was only as strong as two (presumably rotting) planks of wood Any style of truss bridge will take tons of the load off the center and put it on to the rock solid stone, though really any triangles anywhere would probably have stopped this from happening http://moosmanenterprises.bizland.com/images/latest-home-page-bridge.jpg Wooden bridges can be strong enough for cars with simple Actual bridge designs.

[–]yocxl 4 points5 points ago

Granted I know nothing about building or safety regulations, but couldn't they have built a safer wooden replacement?

[–]letsdochemistry 19 points20 points ago

Exactly. Why can't I just work with my precious dangerous chemicals in the lab wearing nothing but my underwear? The man trying to keep me down.

[–]Unidan 14 points15 points ago

[–]muoncat 31 points32 points ago

That old bridge really tied the room together.

[–]Plyson 21 points22 points ago

Yeah a metal bridge might be a little over the top lol

[–]dlq84 45 points46 points ago

Tell that to their lawyer

[–]ninereeds314 31 points32 points ago

The day after an entire family gets zapped by a surprise bolt of lightening, attracted by the metal bridge.

[–]Galeper 6 points7 points ago

Harvey

[–]DrDerpberg 2 points3 points ago

Not really. Just because it's one material over another doesn't mean it's more or less over- or under-designed. You can have a flimsy steel bridge or a nearly-invincible wood bridge.

The main advantage of their choice of materials is probably to avoid the unfortunate tendency of wood in the middle of the forest to get... yknow... eaten by bugs and rot and stuff.

[–]sakanachan 1 point2 points ago

If you're a bridge, "over the top" is kind of your thing

[–]edjca 6 points7 points ago

So do lawsuits.

[–]GuantanaMo 1 point2 points ago

Sadly, new bridges somehow tend to do that.

[–]ilikedroids 46 points47 points ago

oh good, the fall's not that far. I no longer feel as bad for the people involved.

[–]SkepticalPanda 124 points125 points ago

It is most definitely far enough to sustain some serious injury!

[–]canarchist 82 points83 points ago

Especially when you're landing on broken boards, nails and family members.

[–]i_practice_santeria 22 points23 points ago

Family members should help break the fall. Sucks to be the ones to land first though.

[–]347MAN 18 points19 points ago

Judging by the tree growth I'd say they're all better now. Unless that one dude really is grabbing that little girl by the feet. She could be dead.

[–]rytis 36 points37 points ago

read the article the bride suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted out.

[–]green_cheese 81 points82 points ago

Read bridge, thought that was awesome satire.

[–]ttop12 1 point2 points ago

Reading this made me feel like when I try to decipher what people are saying while extremely drunk.

[–]mydogisdumb 3 points4 points ago

yea, and on that piece of wood that guy at the botom is going to fall on, looks like great potential for a broken spine.

[–]soignees 35 points36 points ago

one of the women in the photo had her back broken. Source.

[–]serenstar 26 points27 points ago

Some of the translation on that article is hilarious.

"The castle was a wedding, and the unhappy, told the mayor".

[–]Shteaky 16 points17 points ago

I love this one.

Photo:

Half of the people falls, and the other half also.

[–]BHSPitMonkey 1 point2 points ago

Like something straight out of a Douglas Adams book.

[–]billebob2 12 points13 points ago

Two big surprises experienced in July 2010, a group of seventeen people in the castle Aichelburg Trutnov. The first heart pounding them with joy...

Wow..Google translate makes happy phrases sound pretty violent.

[–]ilikedroids 3 points4 points ago

oh wow, now I feel like shit for what I said.

[–]keepinithamsta 1 point2 points ago

I guess she couldn't wait until getting some alone time with the groom to get her back broken.

[–]waterlight 6 points7 points ago

Well according to the news article here, the bride had to be transported by helicopter due to a serious spine injury, three other people were seriously injured, and a few others suffered fractures.

[–]filthgrinder 14 points15 points ago

Look closely, see the nails sticking up from one of the planks bellow??? God I hope everyone is alright.

[–]svenhoek86 16 points17 points ago

Falling without warning from that height could fuck you up pretty bad. You aren't expecting it and land on a leg or arm wrong, you could get a pretty gnarly break. Plus the boards that had just fallen could be landed upon.

Source: Watching my little brother severely break his leg when he tripped over a wall and fell about that far.

[–]CerpinTaxes 4 points5 points ago

I knew a guy in middle school who completely shattered his forearm from tripping over a football on soft grass.

That's a fall just from standing height. His arm traveled maybe 3 feet to the ground. Now it's mostly made from metal.

These people fell like quadruple that onto a rocky footpath.

[–]colinbr96 14 points15 points ago

Strange, I thought it was staged.

[–]mrsammercer 23 points24 points ago

How could that possibly be staged unless they had Jean Grey with them?

[–]TheBiFrost 11 points12 points ago

like a bridge over troubled water..I will lay me down..

[–]realdeal6649 826 points827 points ago

I've always preferred these candid type shots to the stuffy, traditional not-falling portraits.

[–]SRS270 149 points150 points ago

The things parents will do to get an original pic of their family...

[–]AH17708 65 points66 points ago

..and I'll sit back and snap photos as you plummet to your death.

[–]Ozyman666 63 points64 points ago

[–]Thekid579 2 points3 points ago

How long have you been waiting to use that?

[–]Ozyman666 2 points3 points ago

Actually, just saw it today on the website at the top of the photo.

[–]uneekfreek 44 points45 points ago

/r/perfecttiming

edit: holy mother of god. i wrote that as a joke but that subreddit does exist and this pic is the first on on there. hivemind, i have no words...

[–]intertron1 24 points25 points ago

This is one thing we lost with digital cameras that we had with film cameras

"hold that expression, my camera is turning on"

Even with my cell phone that is already on I have slide to unlock, scroll to the screen with that icon, launch the camera app, and then take the photo.

I look forward to when more phones have a dedicated camera button and we can start making up for ~15 years of awkwardly held poses and fake smiles.

[–]andytuba 67 points68 points ago

No, we still had awkwardly held poses and fake smiles for film cameras, too, as evidenced by all the prints from 1970-2000 on my parents' fridge. With digital cameras, we can just preview how bad they are much sooner.

[–]JackAceHole 47 points48 points ago

"Keep smiling...I gotta crank the film for the next photo...oh, wait...that was the last pic. Gotta reload...Lemme get another roll of film out of my bag..."

[–]brad_follmer 12 points13 points ago

yes exactly. i do not miss film. I have shot almost 50,000 images on my current dslr and the number of times i have to change my card is minuscule to the number of rolls of film that equals. (not even getting into the amount of money that much film would have been)

wake up time is not the best but hell, i was fumbling for lens caps and focusing all all that crap anyway. so what ever.

[–]beetlez 10 points11 points ago

Not to mention we're not pouring LOTS of terrible chemicals down drains to develop shots anymore.

[–]gjbloom 20 points21 points ago

I prefer digital specifically because I can disable any shutter noise that lets my subjects know when the picture is taken, and can shoot a half-dozen pictures leading up to and following the 'say cheese' moment when everyone is all plasticine. Gives much more natural looking shots. Quality through quantity.

[–]ras344 4 points5 points ago

I also like being able to take pictures without my subjects knowing.

[–]SpinkickFolly 2 points3 points ago

Exactly, especially when taking pictures of faces. No one understand you need to take 5 to 6 pictures all at once while they are smiling. One of them in that set will be good enough to show them latter after i go through them.

I cringe everytime someone tells me to show them a picture i just took. I know all they are going to do is stamp around and tell me to delete it because they dont like it.

[–]crazyprsn 10 points11 points ago

"Hold on, the flash is still charging..."

[–]vyleside 16 points17 points ago

You mean like my five year old Sony W810i?

[–]redditor0621 13 points14 points ago

iOS and even some Android phones have slide to open camera instantly where you don't even need a passcode. Maybe get a newer phone/software?

[–]infernitheus 1 point2 points ago

it looks like the guy on the right is shaking people off the railing

[–]youarealldumbasses 131 points132 points ago

The last family photo where everyone is still alive.

[–]MedicalJargon-itis 135 points136 points ago

"Aww, that's how I'll always remember Todd. Awkwardly tumbling down a ditch."

[–]Se7en_Sinner 48 points49 points ago

Classic Todd, what's with him and ditches.

[–]VonSockthroat 57 points58 points ago

Ditches love Todd.

[–]Calber4 23 points24 points ago

I gave that ditch a Todd. Ditches love Todd.

[–]the_walrus_was_ringo 8 points9 points ago

He died how he lived.

[–]factshack 1 point2 points ago

slowly and full of splinters.

[–]soignees 198 points199 points ago

Google translate of the article about it, this happened in Aichelburg Castle, Czech Republic. It was a wedding party on top of the bridge.

The bride had her back broken from this and had to be flown out via helicopter. It's a bit gruesome to laugh about this, imo.

[–]kbillly 20 points21 points ago

Wedding party? I guess this was a very non traditional wedding. No one dressed up.

[–]Halsfield 18 points19 points ago

I read bride as bridge and thought you were making a joke. Now I feel bad.

[–]davenacca 8 points9 points ago

ohthankgodimnottheonlyone

[–]Halsfield 1 point2 points ago

bros b4 brides amirite?

[–]krevency 3 points4 points ago

Was looking for what happened. Thanks.

[–]silentorbx 19 points20 points ago

This times a million. The top comment in this thread proves that most people think this was just a prank photo, ie "staged" to be a cheesy family photo. When in reality the bride on her most special day was seriously injured. Really sad, actually.

[–]Softcorps_dn 46 points47 points ago

I think it's pretty obvious at face value that this was not a "prank" or "staged" photo.

[–]burntornge 11 points12 points ago

Yep. I can tell by the pixels.

[–]Bitter_Idealist 1 point2 points ago

Pretty casual attire for a wedding. Huh.

[–]follier 1 point2 points ago

Direct link to the photo gallery, because google translate didn't want to serve it for some reason.

[–]Dandical 33 points34 points ago

It's like a reverse jumping photo.

[–]Waffles81 23 points24 points ago

It's also the reverse of a broken leg healing.

Quick, somebody post the top comment from these threads. And when I say somebody I mean TIR.

[–]Gandzilla 37 points38 points ago

scary but it worked, he reworded it and ding 60 karma

[–]Fuck_TrappedInReddit 441 points442 points ago

Fuck that guy, amirite?!

[–]SaxSalute 182 points183 points ago

It's crazy to think that you were the good guy all along!

[–]Krazen 20 points21 points ago

What? Can somebody explain what happened?

[–]SaxSalute 110 points111 points ago

Trapped_in_Reddit turned out to be using SimilarImage to find posts that had the same image. He would then take the top comment from the old post and put it on the new one. That way he was nearly guaranteed karma. Somebody busted him for it and he has fled to /r/mexico where he makes fun of Americans while speaking only Spanish.

That's the gist.

[–]twisted_memories 52 points53 points ago

Isn't that kinda brilliant though? He was reposting (something reddit claims to hate wholeheartedly) all this time but people loved him. It's like a weird social experiment that was doing well for a while. Then, BOOM! The end of TIR.

[–]dtox12 79 points80 points ago

No, the experiment was a success. The point of Trapped_In_Reddit was to provide hard evidence that the hive mind can and does upvote and champion certain things over others. TIR posted jokes, political commentary, social commentary, and philosophical quips as well. All upvoted to the moon.

He proved that the majority of the people on Reddit engage in self-validation, repeatedly upvoting and popularizing certain issues, views, beliefs, even a certain sense of humor. Why does this matter? Because Reddit rails against reposts, liars, and hypocrities - yet, this experiment showed us that the hive mind is those 3 things it hates the most - a reposting, hypocritical liar. TIR won at Reddit. He figured out how the hive mind worked.

The conclusion: All of Reddit is a circlejerk for mostly 20-30 year old, white, Western males.

[–]luciddr34m3r 18 points19 points ago

I'm not really sure why it matters. They are fake points. I come here for pictures of cats, and that's what I get. If people want self validation with meaningless internet points, whats the big deal? Why get worked up about it? They are fake internet points.

[–]Explosion_Jones 2 points3 points ago

Wait, are we not all joking when we bitch about karmawhores? I thought that was just a running joke, like the pun threads or the rhyme thing.

[–]muffley 1 point2 points ago

In other news, people like funny things over multiple months.

[–]disparaged 1 point2 points ago

So where does an early thirties western male go when he gets bored with the circlejerk of reddit?

[–]pseudolobster 12 points13 points ago

A while was a week. The total number of reposted comments is six. The other 100000 comments were original.

It's really fascinating that reddit went on such a violent witch hunt, downvoting everything he's ever written, writing bots to do it for them, etc. He's been getting dozens of death threats every day since this happened.

The funny thing is, reposts are fucking everywhere on reddit, and they're actually celebrated. People say "well it's new to me, so thank you for posting this", and people who call them out get hit with hundreds of downvotes. Posters like Mind_Virus post dozens of reposts per day, and have millions of upvotes as a result. They have hundreds of people on their friends list, and people will defend to the death their right to repost.

Here we have the complete opposite. Someone reposts six comments, gets tens of thousands of downvotes and people calling for his blood. Reddit is a strange, fickle creature some times.

[–]twisted_memories 1 point2 points ago

Really? I wasn't aware of that. That makes the whole killing off TIR thing even more ridiculous to me. I liked the comments, personally.

[–]SaxSalute 8 points9 points ago

Oh yeah, for sure. I'd like to see where his is in a ranking of all people, comment karma wise.

[–]Scaurus 13 points14 points ago

[–]SaxSalute 1 point2 points ago

Doesn't he have more like 500k though?

[–]caernavon 1 point2 points ago

That's a much better explanation for that than I was able to grok at the time. Thanks!

[–]RedSquaree 1 point2 points ago

Trapped_in_Reddit turned out to be using SimilarImage

KarmaDecay, not SimilarImage.

[–]banjeed 5 points6 points ago

Trapped in reddit was either manually or automatically reposting the top comments to reposts.

[–]Zalbu 9 points10 points ago

Redditors got their panties in a bunch over karma. Nothing new.

[–]HereToBeHappy 1 point2 points ago

I think you guys should go outside and think about your lives and why do you care about tir reposting a few comments. Bring tissues.

[–]ActionScripter9109 12 points13 points ago

For some reason, as old as this joke is, I still laugh every time.

[–]AndyRooney 12 points13 points ago

The last few days must have been Xmas combined with New Years combined with Festivus for you.

[–]Fuck_TrappedInReddit 38 points39 points ago

It may seem that way but nah, if his account isn't popular my novelty is dead.

[–]CatMojo 117 points118 points ago

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK

This is only the FIRST time I've seen this picture...

I need to spend more time... like 24/7, on reddit, so I can be a sad cunt and bang on about repost that I have already seen.

[–]servohahn 17 points18 points ago

You're getting your panties in a twist over a bot. Just thought you'd like to know.

[–]SeaweedWater 6 points7 points ago

People still have to upvote the bot.

[–]Phallic 1 point2 points ago

Anyone that spends more time on reddit than you is a sad cunt.

Anyone that spends less just doesn't get it.

Life can be so... convenient sometimes.

[–]MikeCam 8 points9 points ago

Hey, that's me! I feel somewhat special.

[–]KingofFrance 53 points54 points ago

Well I would have never seen this awesome picture unless someone had reposted it so thanks OP!

[–]blitzbom 19 points20 points ago

Same here. I've been on reddit 6 months now, and this is the first I've seen of it.

[–]geebs61 2 points3 points ago

I've been here almost every day for 4 years and I haven't seen this image yet. People complaining about reposts is far more annoying than looking at an image you've already seen.

Do these people yell "repost" at their daily commute to work too?

[–]goddamnsam 33 points34 points ago

Now I am angry about having seen this picture! Here I was, amusing myself with a picture that I had not had the chance to see before, but now I am pissed off because now I know the picture had been posted before!!

man, I would have SO rather have just not seen the picture than to have seen it and have the excruciatingly painful knowledge that it was posted a mere 3 weeks ago by someone else at a time when I was not browsing reddit and didn't get the chance to see it.

[–]Manamanky 70 points71 points ago

Its all fun and games until you realise one of those kids could have been impaled on a plank of wood

[–]saucisse 21 points22 points ago

Truth. I can't not-laugh when I look at the picture, but the injuries were pretty severe. It was a wedding party, and the bride had to be med-flighted out of there with a broken back.

[–]onelouderdude 18 points19 points ago

The bridge had to be med-evaced as well-being. It suffered the most damage.

[–]TakingKarmaFromABaby 59 points60 points ago

[–]tomas1808 24 points25 points ago

TETANUS

[–]shif 1 point2 points ago

little kid to the left is going to hit the plank and sever his spine, leaving him crippled for the rest of his life, or maybe not =)

[–]ChinaShopBully 16 points17 points ago

Fly, you fools!

[–]seafoamstratocaster 226 points227 points ago

LOL@ the guy pulling down the little girl by her leg.

[–]gentlemandinosaur 75 points76 points ago

Except he isn't. Look again. He is free falling.

[–]Daskplask 84 points85 points ago

Look again. He is now a diamond.

[–]seafoamstratocaster 159 points160 points ago

Don't ruin this for me.

[–]Se7en_Sinner 69 points70 points ago

Don't worry, I'm sure all of them are severely injured.

[–]seafoamstratocaster 33 points34 points ago

This puts my heart at rest.

[–]Naught 2 points3 points ago

His heart stopped! We're gonna need a crash cart in here!

[–]halloni 2 points3 points ago

[–]abeanintheusa 50 points51 points ago

Now I'm free! Free falling!!

[–]44problems 1 point2 points ago

Now all the vampires... something something, move west down...VENTURA BOULEVARD!

[–]newSalt- 24 points25 points ago

"IF IM GOING DOWN, I'M TAKING YOU WITH ME"

[–]metallicabmc 2 points3 points ago

"Don’t ever give up my son."

[–]SippieCup 3 points4 points ago

Something is wrong with my g-defuser.

[–]goofygoobarock 1 point2 points ago

This was the top comment on the last repost, you cunt.

[–]michaelsong55 11 points12 points ago

haha i saw this and felt bad for her

[–]IMasturbateToMyself 26 points27 points ago

I have never found people hurting themselves funny. When my friends and I watch fail compilation video they always laugh so hard until they are crying. Meanwhile I am thinking "fuck they just died."

[–]el_refrigerator 13 points14 points ago

You gotta pay the troll toll

[–]KidTheFat 1 point2 points ago

if you wanna get this boy's hole

[–]Azenge 38 points39 points ago

That's a priceless photo for your family.

[–]Swype-Without-Delete 27 points28 points ago

I'm extremely impressed with the photographers timing on this one. Say cheese!!

[–]mangoking 5 points6 points ago

Except for the cost of the medical bills

[–]yablebab 19 points20 points ago

It's in the Czech Republic, so medical bills will be exactly 0 CZK.

[–]Stuppyhead 2 points3 points ago

Medical bills? I'd say the people who own the bridge are the ones paying those.

[–]vjjinmymouth 2 points3 points ago

Not in Europe.

[–]londons_explorer 1 point2 points ago

cos we don't sue eachother like alligators in a cage...

[–]A_Total_Asshole 28 points29 points ago

Holy shit. You are going to have to share the injury report.

[–]Fancy_Lad 65 points66 points ago

[–]Joeyfingis 27 points28 points ago

Wow the bride had broken spinal vertebrate! That's serious

[–]dillrepair 13 points14 points ago

The fall in more than three-meter gap no one expected.

[–]SmartViking 19 points20 points ago

Helicopter flew for the bride, want one million damage.

Yes yes, I know some of those words

[–]The_Bug_L 1 point2 points ago

My lvl 80 bride deals one million damage to helicopter type enemies.

[–]bluelikejazz 17 points18 points ago

"Injuring seven people including the bridge"

Poor bridge.

[–]eternalkerri 8 points9 points ago

Wow, Czech translates poorly in Google.

[–]PCLOAD_LETTER 7 points8 points ago

google translate seems to be breaking the photo album on that page.

[–]Parzee 15 points16 points ago

The husband quotes at the bottom: After the accident (I)clearly knew the beams were rotten."

You don't say!

[–]ThatBernie 5 points6 points ago

"The second surprise was scary."

[–]nruticat 8 points9 points ago

They ask her a million damages.

Poor girl.

[–]crazymuffin 15 points16 points ago

Am I seriously looking at english translation of website in my native language?

[–]al0newestand 19 points20 points ago

No, it's a joke?

[–]jb0nd38372 1 point2 points ago

I REALLY enjoyed the way that translation came out, feel bad for those injured. Reading that article really stimulates the mind.

[–]paranoidbillionaire 1 point2 points ago

The crash blame Lenka Klimešová from the tourist center, which keeps the castle. They ask her a million damages. Klimešová now sat in the dock at the Trutnov court.

Thanks, Google Translate.

[–]Dookiestain_LaFlair 10 points11 points ago

The best way to keep invaders out of your castle - A trick bridge!

[–]eXotic7 7 points8 points ago

The article behind this picture

This happened in Czech republic in July 2010.

Since you prolly dont speak czech;D it was a wedding where the bridge fell while all the people were photographed on it. 7 out of 17 people were harmed, the bride(Not the bridge) was damaged the most, no one died.

I respect your artistic freedom by just taking the bridge out of the equation.

Nobody in that group has brown/reddish pants. The hell are you trying to pull?!

You're the worst!

I like the alligator, though.

He is the shittiest

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points ago

i like how the alligator is swimming in dirt

Those are the dangerous ones. Everyone expects gators in a water filled moat.

[–]jargonista 12 points13 points ago

This. This is the point in which the art history majors of the 2110's will recognize the dramatic shift in your artwork that began to delve into the surreal recognition of the unhidden fears that lie just beyond the purview of what can be captured on film. Or some bullshit like that.

Are these folks okay?

The laws of science be a harsh mistress.

I like the guy on the right who is off the bridge, looks like he has decided to attempt to help, and is just grasping onto the railing like, "This is the best I've got!"

Google translation from the first picture:

"Under the wedding in the summer of 2010 probořili bridge beams at the castle Aichelburg Trutnov, seven people were injured."

[–]sweetNawris 12 points13 points ago

No one is actually grabbing onto her feet. Look more closely!

I've had one of those photographic moments where it seemed like a really bad idea at the time. When I was about 10 years old, my parents took me and my cousin to this private drive through zoo place. They had this petting zoo area where you could hold baby lions, mt. lions, lemurs, etc. and it was really cool. They also had a huge Burmese python and a boa constrictor crawling around on the ground there. Well, my mom gets the idea that my cousin and I should stand behind this python while she takes our picture. So we squat down right behind this snake and it's just chilling there, slowly crawling along the ground, but we were between it and this boa, which was right behind me. Even though the python was the bigger of the two, it didn't worry me since I was looking at it, but having my back turned on a 12 foot boa, that was within striking distance, was really making me feel uncomfortable. My mom took the longest trying to figure out how her camera worked (this was before digital cameras). Every second I was there, the more nervous I got. Finally, after what seemed like forever, she took the pic and I got the hell out of there. I'm not scared of snakes, but turning my back on a predatory animal that can easily take me out if it wanted to just didn't seem like a smart idea at the time.
