Pretty much, the diseases evolve on their own sometimes in a talent tree type thing, and you pop bubbles when new countries are infected for more points to level up attributes.

I don't know that it's so much the closing of the ports as it is that it just takes foreeeeeeeever to get things going there. They have one seaport that seems to mostly only interact with Iceland most of the time. I can have the entire world trucking along, dying rapidly, but Greenland will hold out until the rest of the world is dead and I still end up defeated.

Maybe I should try starting there. Hmm. It would take a long time to get the disease going at a fast clip, but then maybe I'd just be unstoppable.

You choose where the disease starts actually, I chose Madagascar >:) however where you start actually makes a big difference, richer countries don't spread as fast, countries without ports or airways can't spread by water or air, etc.

Better. It's not completely impossible to infect Madagascar, and different types of plagues behave in different ways. (I.e. A virus mutates on it's own, so you have to devolve it. A fungus doesn't travel well over long distances.). Totally worth $ .99.

As long as you dont invest yourself too heavily into it's Lethality I've found it makes the game easier, concentrate on transporting it places, securing it with resistances, and it naturally makes itself more lethal. I dislike Viruses :S
