OH GOD THE DRAGON GUN

[–]TheOneFreeMan77 21 points22 points ago

That thing was OP as fuuuuuuuuuckkk.

[–]Iosefo 11 points12 points ago

Equip Time to die bitches!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAH

[–]ravenstad 8 points9 points ago

Dragon? i play illegal parts, the Worm gun is beastie.

[–]Hawful 2 points3 points ago

I always rocked the dragon gun on those little tiny super agile maid bots. Just sprinting around the map blasting away.

I normally downvote nostalgia posts but I would happily give my left nut, three fingers, a rib and my nose for a sequel with online multiplayer.

[–]andy98725 1 point2 points ago

Keep them in the corner, DRILL COMBO!

[–]and3r 44 points45 points ago

THE WORLD ISN'T FLAT GOD DAMN IT

[–]admisaok 41 points42 points ago

So the fact that the police fight criminals by challenging them to robot battles is perfectly fine to you, but the world being flat is just too much?

[–]e001mek 10 points11 points ago

Yes it is.

[–]KampfyChair 33 points34 points ago

Oh my gods. Finding awesome builds with that game was so fun, provided you outlawed certain weapons (I'm looking at you, purple wyrm gun thing). Mastering the one body with eight teleports was so satisfying.

[–]Hegna 17 points18 points ago

The weapon was listed as an 'illegal part' for a reason. Anything in that list was meant to be broken.

[–]TSN_Winter 3 points4 points ago

Wasn't garbage can robo also an illegal part? Also flying and flamethrower in that game was scary as fuck.

[–]Hegna 1 point2 points ago

Garbage can had a slightly different mark IIRC than the illegal parts. But yeah, there were tons of scary combos that didn't use illegal parts anyway.

[–]CaptainLawless 6 points7 points ago

Crystal storm was by far the most broken gun, just sit there and spam B launching volleys of auto-aiming meteors into the air. Fighting it was just a race to get to your opponent and combo him so he couldn't get any rounds off

[–]MyifanW 3 points4 points ago

Not hard if you used a high speed ground robo, and just run. Custom Robo Arena's weapon balance was actually pretty cool, I never found a weapon that really dominated.

[–]ieatatsonic 2 points3 points ago

We always ban illegal parts and the dragon at my house. Noone likes the dragon.

[–]Hero17 2 points3 points ago

I think I went through most of the game with the rayfall gun, it shot a bunch of purple triangles up into the air which then homed in at the opponent, if you shot it while you were in the air they would just go straight for him. It was fun cause I just had to run around and try not to get shot while the homing bullets worked the other guy down.

[–]Vanto 4 points5 points ago

*Halberd (teleporter) :3

[–]Endlessssss 0 points1 point ago

Halberd is definitely my favorite body, it's stealth and sneak-up ability combined with the knockdown and instant death associated with the stun gun is an unstoppable combo.

[–]Falcon_Kick 22 points23 points ago

FEAR MY KNUCKLER

[–]FragRaptor 4 points5 points ago

Mother of god.... so much pain......

[–]MyifanW 1 point2 points ago

It's a terrible moment when using the knuckler and your opponent is using the magnum.

[–]cknight18 0 points1 point ago

hahaha while playing the campaign through, i KOed an opponent in... think it was 6 seconds, while using that gun.

[–]HaikusYourComment 53 points54 points ago

Custom Robo DS was great too.

[–]Cygnus_X1 10 points11 points ago

I thought it suffered a little due to the fact that at the end you just would up using the same strategy over and over for every map.

[–]Malicious_Waffles 6 points7 points ago

I changed robos every 2 or 3 matches, since it got boring just using RAY01.

[–]Nightmaru 1 point2 points ago

Tiny robot battles no less.

[–]Sandsa 3 points4 points ago

Oh? I must try!

[–]AizeoNunca 2 points3 points ago

Played the SHIT out of that game. stole my little brother's ds for about two weeks.

[–]SaltAndTrombe 0 points1 point ago

Luna/Twin Fang 4evr.

[–]somebodyother 15 points16 points ago

first person mode made you feel like such BAMF. Best completion reward ever.

[–]cyanCrusader 6 points7 points ago

I sat there for like ten minutes during the credits not realizing I could actually play and that it was in first person. It was very embarrassing.

[–]killjoy95 29 points30 points ago

GATTLING GUN FTW!

[–]psychroclasm 23 points24 points ago

Wyvern here. Long-range aerial combat.

Edit: Forgot the one that fires self-aiming swords. Holy crap.

[–]matterde 4 points5 points ago

treble bomb was the best

[–]selfish_king 19 points20 points ago

Dragon Gun.

/thread

[–]CaptainLawless 7 points8 points ago

Stun gun raped everything that you got close to; it was my pinnacle of perfection with quick units like Peregrine, or the ones who could fly as a double-jump.

[–]FomorianKing 5 points6 points ago

In the DS version, Custom Robo Arena, stun gun was the shit.

[–]psychroclasm 1 point2 points ago

I always hated getting close. A robo with a quick-fire weapon shut it down every time.

[–]TheGoryElk 1 point2 points ago

I loved Peregrine. That couples with the stun gun or that really short range but really powerful gun, forget the name of it.

[–]CaptainLawless 4 points5 points ago

There was a shotgun, that might be it. But Stun Gun kept them down while you took out massive chunks of HP, then you skedaddled away while they're invincible

[–]TheGoryElk 0 points1 point ago

Shotgun, that's the one. I think you get shotgun before stungun, which is why I used it

[–]CameToSayNoWay 0 points1 point ago

I believe it was called sword storm, but I haven't (over)played this game in a couple years or so.

[–]RicyRice 0 points1 point ago

Blade gun you mean?

[–]Seginus 12 points13 points ago

How to troll friends in Custom Robo multiplayer:

1) Choose the Javelin, or a similar Strike Vanisher model (the ones that teleport with mid-air jumps)
2) Choose the Shotgun, Knuckle, or similar powerful weapon
3) Teleport -> Shotgun -> Teleport away.
4) Repeat 3 until victory.

This game was awesome, but there were soooooo many busted parts combos, even when not using illegal parts.

[–]Niflhe 2 points3 points ago

I was always a fan of the Peregrine Model for this method. Deploy a couple of bombs just to mix things up? Awesome.

[–]cworker 0 points1 point ago

Peregrine was the best. I trounced my friends who always used the dragon gun with use of cover and a Gatling gun. so much fun.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

My two strategies to piss people off were-

1) The "Sword Storm," lightning gun... thing, plus any of the flying types. You can fire off the gun mid flight without having to aim, regardless of where you were on the map, because you shot into the sky and the swords came down on your opponent. Paired with flight, you could constantly circle around the map firing off shots and no one would be able to hit you.

2) Any of the faster models plus the drill. The drill was the most broken weapon in the game, bar none, in a one-on-one match. You could endlessly juggle your enemy with it. If you got the first hit in with the drill, you could just keep spamming it over and over. Absurdly unbalanced weapon, but almost no one ever picked it because the base stats seem unimpressive.

[–]tunarr 2 points3 points ago

THIS. This was my shit. I can hear the sounds and see the cones now!

r=> >>>>>>>>

[–]DoctorThunder 0 points1 point ago

I always used Swift (pink, obviously), the feet that make you run superfast, and tazer. Fucking destroyed all my friends.

[–]CameToSayNoWay 0 points1 point ago

Easily countered, but only with very, very specific sets. Also, I think some of the heavier models could actually tank a hit from one of those weps, and then punch you right back.

[–]cknight18 0 points1 point ago

honestly, i would just use metal ox with a short range gun, usually the knuckle. slower, but you cannot stop him. the only weapon that can really counter it is the magnum.

[–]aahdin 27 points28 points ago

I thought I was the only person that ever played this.

My asshole friend borrowed it a couple years ago and scratched it up and since then it doesn't work...

/sob

[–]Bijan641 43 points44 points ago

You should scratch him up so that he doesn't work.

[–]deadymcstevejobs 1 point2 points ago

I know that feel. Found it a couple weeks ago only to end up opening an empty case, I was devastated.

[–]arcticursa 6 points7 points ago

Possibly one of the greatest gamecube games I've ever played. I never understood why America never got a sequel.

Best part: Are you joining us? No. Are you joining us? No. Are you joining us? No. Are you joining us? No. Fine then, we'll go without you. And your friends were never seen again, game over.

[–]Factions 13 points14 points ago

Extremely under-rated game and I'm surprised this is the first time I've seen it on r/gaming. Multiplayer was more fun than my 12 year old self could have imagined.

[–]GreyouTT 4 points5 points ago

I still play Custom Robo Arena on my DS.

[–]badwolf422 3 points4 points ago

This game. This game was like my life when it came out. I made it a personal mission to 100% complete the game, which I could never do. (But I'm very very close!)

I have an annual tradition of playing through the story mode (which is sadly very short) every year on the day before Thanksgiving.

I also have imports of the three Japan-only installments in the series. They're the crown jewels of my collection.

[–]Hedgesmog 0 points1 point ago

Do you have any names for those Japan only editions? I can't seem to find them.

NINJA EDIT: Scratch that, found em on Wikipedia. :P

[–]cubeenigma 5 points6 points ago

With a group of friends this game was the shit. Another local multiplayer gem in the gamecube's library

[–]Elekktrikk 1 point2 points ago

everyone would just use the illegal weapons even if you told them not to and destroy you. I hated that game for awhile afterwards.

[–]Anystic 2 points3 points ago

You know in options you can make them so they couldn't be picked right....?

[–]Elekktrikk 2 points3 points ago

It was my friend's gamecube. he's was larger than me. I couldn't do anything I wanted.

[–]Zeirith 2 points3 points ago

I miss this game, I hope a new one comes out. I remember being the only person I knew to own it.

[–]MyMule 7 points8 points ago

I nostalgiad so hard, it was the first game I ever beat as a kid.

[–]Adarkox 13 points14 points ago

You don't know how old you just made me feel.

[–]Manberg 2 points3 points ago

The one gamecube game I always wanted but never bought/played. It saddens me because I always hear of how fun it is.

[–]badwolf422 2 points3 points ago

It's incredibly cheap now, if you keep an eye open. My local store has two copies both priced at $5.

Trust me, it's worth every cent. I replay this game at least once a year since it came out.

[–]tuscanspeed 2 points3 points ago

Never picked that one up. How's it compare to Armored Core or Mechwarrior?

[–]Adarkox 4 points5 points ago

It's more on the cartoony side of things. Whereas AC or Mechwarrior deals with gigantic death machines with very intricate customization, this one is all about smaller, more agile units that are meant to run and jump all over an arena styled map. They play VERY differently and the customization, though to a level deep, is nowhere near what you would get in MC or AC but for the type of game it does the job quite well.

[–]psychroclasm 0 points1 point ago

They're not really the same thing. Here.

[–]cworker 0 points1 point ago

It's a lot of fun, but in an entirely different way. Small arena's, agile robos, and a decent amount of customization. Nothing really like armored core, but still a lot of fun.

[–]Kartikaya 2 points3 points ago

Gameplay was phenomenal, aesthetics and story were... awful. Still one of my favorite games, so good that I played through the japanese N64 one too.

[–]badwolf422 1 point2 points ago

Do you know any Japanese? I have an imported copy and a rudimentary knowledge of Japanese but can't really make heads or tails of it.

[–]Kartikaya 0 points1 point ago

This game is one of the ones that inspired me to learn, but I did not when I played it. I still have plenty of trouble with it though.

[–]MPGrdnr 2 points3 points ago

ok I loved this game but who remembers when you had to watch a 25 minute cut scene with those annoying bleep noises as voices and scrolling text explaining EVERY SINGLE FUCKING THING about the story...I remember it was so long... that you saved 4 times during different points...

Vs. mode was dope though

[–]Shifty_Snowman 2 points3 points ago

Peregrine -Knuckle -Freeze bombs -Sky Freeze pods -Formula boots It's over already.

[–]Zerberus410 2 points3 points ago

I just had a nostalgiagasm

[–]OccurringThought 1 point2 points ago

Ahh many a hour spent on this game. I would like to see this on Wii or WiiU.

[–]badwolf422 1 point2 points ago

You know what I'd REALLY like instead? There are three wonderful Japan-only installments of this series. Two for N64, one for GBA. I have all three but it's difficult to play them without being able to read the language. I would desperately want a release of those three in English.

[–]Sandsa 1 point2 points ago

3ds!

[–]Sandsa 1 point2 points ago

I used a few "go to" sets, one for each frame type. I noticed they worked better with different arenas. My friends would then figure out strategies to take them down. I wasn't allowed to change my pieces and I tried beyond tried to not change strategy. It would take hours. Eventually they would get it, but it was always fun to watch then come up with strategy (I had a fully unlocked library)

[–]Sorrune 1 point2 points ago

This was the first game I ever pulled an all nighter with as a kid. I started playing and the next thing I knew it was 8am the next day.

[–]xnopityx 1 point2 points ago

I played that game at a best buy during a road trip and never found it again. One of my life's biggest regrets.

[–]badwolf422 0 points1 point ago

It's not too late. My local store has it priced at $5. It still holds up today.

[–]ForteFZ 1 point2 points ago

i remember one of the bots had a really high fly time, so all you did was flyi n circles and fire off "Raptor" the entire game, and then proceed to win everything

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Reminds me of Medabots.... I miss those guys.

[–]bloodhorde 1 point2 points ago

...dolphin emulator :3, i has it

[–]EnigmaticJester 1 point2 points ago

I liked picking the Shrike with the sniper rifle. I was a quick little bastard.

[–]HappyDays7 1 point2 points ago

Holy motherfucking shit I loved this game. I could only play it by renting it from Blockbuster... Does anyone know where I can find a good copy? I suppose GameStop might be selling a pretty cheap used copy.

[–]badwolf422 0 points1 point ago

Gamestop doesn't carry Gamecube stuff anymore, but if you look around independent used game places they might have it. My local store has two copies for $5

[–]Aidan1999 1 point2 points ago

I loved customRobo...... too bad my gamecube broke.

[–]HayzerUnlimited 1 point2 points ago

I Am actually doing a let's play of this game currently, http://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA97D957342FE3ACA , if anyone wants to check it out

[–]njnets1 1 point2 points ago

this game had a n64 release only in japan and it was literally my favorite multiplayer game on n64. the gamecube one was fun but when judged against the n64 version it was disappointing

[–]OldManKamps 1 point2 points ago

Those look like zoids

[–]Pimpinpinguino 1 point2 points ago

-Halberd -Stun gun -quick jump

Combination that got me gold in every single tournament which lead to unlocking every single part in the game and getting my ass kicked by my retarded friends who always picked Rahu 3 in multiplayer...

[–]MR_MOOSECELS 1 point2 points ago

Yes! I just played this again the other day! I never fully realized how terrible the dialogue was though..

[–]FordSVT1 1 point2 points ago

Thank you for pointing out a hidden gem, and thank you for not writing a stupid title for your submission.

[–]theodore214[S] 1 point2 points ago

Maybe if I made the title "Look at this gem I found in my attic that I bought from a garage sale by an atheist" I would've gotten double the karma. Oh well.

[–]Krenzy 1 point2 points ago

oh god the memories
EDIT: does anyone have a game cube emulator?

[–]ViciousFenrir 1 point2 points ago

You know how you had to spam, I believe, the "A" button to release your Robo? Well one time my friend was over and was playing. He was sitting on the edge of my bed and when he spammed "A" he would put his whole body into it, almost jumping up and down. Just as he was about to release his Robo one final little jump broke my bed supports and sent us tumbling to the ground. My parents were pretty pissed but I thought it was funny at the time. Still brings back memories every time I think of this game.

[–]Astiahl 1 point2 points ago

...I...I remember this. Flashes of it would haunt the edges on my mind from time to time and I would go "Damn that was fun...WHY CAN'T I REMEMBER THE NAME?! T-T".

And now, today...you have provided the answer. -manly tears of nostalgia-

[–]segalflock 1 point2 points ago

holy fuck i forgot all about this game... im totally going out to find this and give my door stopper that is my wii some action

[–]wedapeople 1 point2 points ago

I refused to believe my friend when he said he replayed this game after 8 years and hated it. I remeber beating it in one night when I was 9. Good time, good times...

[–]kingxokami 1 point2 points ago

Ohhhh man, this game takes me back. This and Gundam fed my mecha addiction that I have today. Dragon/Wyvern gun FTW! As OP as they were

[–]Awps 1 point2 points ago

DUDE. My older cousin always used the dragon gun because the Gamecube was at his house. i had to use the gay ass Drill Gun. The biggest piece of shit ever. and i rolled with the Halberd body. Shit yeah.

[–]Not_Carl 1 point2 points ago

I have waited so long for this post in order to say... Go chicken body! (forgot name)

[–]HellaBitchin 1 point2 points ago

Whenever I hear the word Umbra.

[–]___X___ 1 point2 points ago

i raped the fuck out of this game

[–]ChillAxxis 1 point2 points ago

I wanted to play this so badly, got from ebay (as it was not available anywhere). Was so excited when it arrived, and then it didn't work because it was the american version, and I had an european gamecube. So painful :(

[–]oddfuture445 1 point2 points ago

I still play it.

[–]ArchieMcFly 1 point2 points ago

Costum Robo + WiiU = Economic Savior

[–]Digitalol 1 point2 points ago

Welp. Time to break out my GameCube again. Well played, r/gaming.

[–]luckyday13 1 point2 points ago

I'm so glad I still have this game

[–]TAFK 3 points4 points ago

It would have benefitted greatly from good voice acting. No voices kills a lot of humor in the game, although its still hilarious.

[–]DoctorThunder 6 points7 points ago

It had voices, just babbling.

hurburburburburburbur

[–]TerethAurauu 2 points3 points ago

Often when I played this game I would make the voices myself, provides for a lot of fun when done with people who play along :D

[–]MichaelFRocks 3 points4 points ago

My brother sold this to gamestop with more of my old games for like 20$ total (~10 games), we fought for hours I was so pissed. I had to go buy it back for $20. Great game!

[–]superfantastic1 0 points1 point ago

The only reason I know this game is because of super smash bros. melee

[–]badwolf422 1 point2 points ago

They're fantastic. Give them a try if you like fighting robot stuff. One for GameCube, one on DS. (There are also some Japan-only ones)

[–]edu723 0 points1 point ago

yes. yes it was.

[–]CarlitX 0 points1 point ago

aActualy dug this our today and looked at the case remembering fond memories.

[–]Hamicsat 0 points1 point ago

True facts!

[–]EpicFishFingers 0 points1 point ago

261 people currently agree with you to a varying extent

[–]deathseekertrickster 0 points1 point ago

I cant even find this game anymore. I missed it.

[–]Technosnake 0 points1 point ago

I am waiting like hell for a sequel

[–]WEJ19 0 points1 point ago

Dragon Launcher OP!

[–]e001mek 0 points1 point ago

I used to have it for the DS. but what killed it for me online was the instakill illegal parts.

[–]Razorjuice 0 points1 point ago

omg I know right.

[–]Jlmjiggy 0 points1 point ago

Man i never knew anyone else who had this game but i had tons of fun when i sed to play with my uncle.

[–]sylvanelite 0 points1 point ago

I waited the entire life of the console for this to come out in Australia. Never did. =(

[–]virtual133 0 points1 point ago

Wyrm gun FTW.

Great game, my brother and I just beat it recently.

[–]Anystic 0 points1 point ago

I love how many people are bitching about how over powered the dragon gun is. its slow as fuck and leaves you wide open just jump at the last second over and use a bomb to gun combo...I played this game way too much by myself T_T

[–]SolSeptem 0 points1 point ago

ugh, one of those games I probably would've bought...but it wasn't released in Europe >.<

[–]splicer407 0 points1 point ago

Hell yes, childhood memories...

Whatever that dragon fist thing was I spammed the crap out of it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

I never got to finish this game

[–]xelaxela333 0 points1 point ago

YES! A million times yes! although the story was pretty dumb lol. the world is flat? haha but some of the most fun combat on the system. I remember the illegal part that shot dragon heads at the other player. ahh this game was great.

[–]thecuriouscat86 0 points1 point ago

I went out and bought this game again and uncovered the old gamecube just because of this post. Thanks man :) I was having trouble remembering the name of this game, but this reminded me the name.

[–]evilgoomba 0 points1 point ago

My upvotes. Take them all. Also, Peregrine+Knuckle was my favorite combo to run.

[–]TheGoryElk 0 points1 point ago

Wow...I am playing Custom Robo right this second rofl.

[–]ToplessHat 0 points1 point ago

I freakin love that game!

[–]aooga12 0 points1 point ago

the only game worth getting a gamecube for.

[–]JupiterIII 0 points1 point ago

omg my brother and I played this game constantly... we still have it I think...

searches

[–]Sephiran 0 points1 point ago

I ran Swift with Dragon as my non illegal parts. For illegal parts I ran Javelin with Crystal Storm or Strike.

[–]Joe890 0 points1 point ago

I have been trying to remember the name of this game for years. Thank you.

[–]Hector_Ceromus 0 points1 point ago

I always alternated between using a flying robo with a long-range weapon like the sniper or dragon, and a short; fast robo with a short range weapon like the taser or punch. Won every fight without hardly using pods or bombs.

[–]makin_teh_bacons 0 points1 point ago

Childhood in a box.

[–]1zacster 0 points1 point ago

Bitch please Strike vanisher + fist (or shotgun) + feather + spider pod + any bomb

For suicide use a speed model with the acrobat bomb =P

They need to remake the game for Xbox and ps3

[–]ArticulateAnteater 0 points1 point ago

HNNNGHHHhghhh

[–]themacmeister 0 points1 point ago

They made a Jap N64 version of this, and Custom Robo 2.

Cannot remember the Japanese names tho...

[–]Locusts 0 points1 point ago

I really wish they had made another one in English for release here. Unless I missed something?

[–]TurboFresh 0 points1 point ago

My brothers, some friends, and I banned the Dragon Gun from use when we would play because it was too cheap.

[–]SentientCloud 0 points1 point ago

The story was terrible and there was soooo much reading but he gameplay was awesome. I would always use the javelin. I was pretty happy when they released one for the DS and always hoped they would make one for the wii but seeing how all wifi games are on that I realized the online would have been terrible.

I wonder what it would have played like if the gameplay was like the intro. Probably nintendos armored core.

[–]CovertCloud 0 points1 point ago

I've still got it somewhere, I think. Man, I should find it again.

[–]ellivlok23 0 points1 point ago

omg it was so amazing I wish I still had it lol

[–]TheRealLaxBro 0 points1 point ago

OMG, I loved this game when I had a GameCube. It was actually the first game I ever bought or it. I got the custom Pokemon XD GameCube and one day when I was in GameStop there was a GameCube with tons of demos all-ready loaded onto it. So I picked up the controller and browsed. CustomRobo looked cool so I choose it. Probably the best game I've ever played. Maybe. But the problem was I remember not beating it all entirely. Does anyone remember what happened after you beat your father?

[–]Goltork2 0 points1 point ago

Oh no way I remember that game!

[–]soul_0 0 points1 point ago

this is one of my favorite games of all time. glad to see other people know about it

[–]AsthmaticNinja 0 points1 point ago

I still have it, I used a shit ton of illegal parts though. Fuck the robo-police.

[–]prawnsink 0 points1 point ago

[–]Docindia92 0 points1 point ago

Holy shit I was playing this today!! I still have it in great condition!

[–]Silkenroe 0 points1 point ago

I just found this game while cleaning today. too stoked to play it again

[–]AnimusRex 0 points1 point ago

What's all this love for the dragon gun? The fist gun, man. It killed robos in like 2 or 3 hits. No range, MAX damage. Teleporty robot.

I falcon-punched everyone after that point.

[–]TheExcellence 0 points1 point ago

Metal arms: Glitch in the system and Battlion Wars. Best gamecube games ever. No debate. Fuck you.

[–]AbstractCalamity 0 points1 point ago

Glaive + Needle gun. Best combo I ever found. Went undefeated with it.

1: Standard approach tactics, teleport around as necessary.

2: Get point blank.

3: Fire three volleys. Might have been four, but I think three was the highest you could get. And still finish the combo right.

4: Use your melee charge attack to finish your combo just before they recover, also bringing you back into the air.

5: From the air, teleport with some delay in a triangle, bringing yourself back into point blank range just as their recovery invulnerability wears off.

6: Go back to step 3. Repeat until the opponent is dead or rage quits.

The needle gun also performs very well at range, unlike a shotgun or other weapons popular in similar strategies. Pair it with a bomb and pods optimized for long range and not even distance will be an adequate defense against you. They key is the Glaive's unique charge attack which ends in the air, so other strike vanishers won't work nearly as well.

I used to have this game. Sadly the disc was in my gamecube when I got robbed. :(

[–]RxMario 0 points1 point ago

Thank you sir for posting this, I now have a Gamecube on my wishlist for the first time in an eternity.

[–]siveme 0 points1 point ago

I fucking miss this game with a passion, so many well spent hours.

[–]tarktan 0 points1 point ago

This needs to have a sequel (DS version doesn't count).

[–]_FUCKYOUPAYME_ 0 points1 point ago

javelin!!!

[–]truefire_ 0 points1 point ago

I know! The story line was so messed up though.

Did anyone else win the secret FPS mode?

[–]Kamakazi1 0 points1 point ago

Just this game? I think you mean every GameCube game. But man, I sure do miss this one...

[–]muzuka 0 points1 point ago

I played this at a Toys'r'us when I was little and I immediately bought it. One of the best games I have ever played. Harry was the best character!

[–]unicyclebear 0 points1 point ago

Sometimes I sit and reminisce about this game for days on end.

Also, Chickenheart ftw.

[–]NotReallyFromTheUK 0 points1 point ago

I've been looking for a place to download the OST for YEARS.

Seriously, best soundtrack of any gamecube game. There are very few songs that make me actually tear up, and many of those are in the Custom Robo soundtrack.

That near-the-end cutscene that required THREE SAVE POINTS to finish

[–]Charmanderpy 0 points1 point ago

I would use illegal parts and just spam pods to kill them off I would use the cheetah ones. Thanks for reminding me of this game!!

[–]Rathdrummer 0 points1 point ago

Fuck. Yes.

[–]CWinter85 0 points1 point ago

I'm going to play this again tomorrow before work now, thanks reddit.

[–]rbp97ilv 0 points1 point ago

Ah yes, I got this from my cousin about a year ago. Almost have all the parts (maybe about 1-2 left). Wish I had a second controller.

Perfered loadout: Glaive Afterburner Titan Bomb Reflection? (3-way pod) Wide Jump

They need the sequel on the Wii U.

[–]Darkrain667 0 points1 point ago

My god you just nostalgia'd my brain so hard the I may have shed a single man-tear D; Jesus, this game was an amazing time-grabber from my earlier gaming years, and it was totally worth it xD I might just have to go find this now.. >.>

[–]Crazyhates 0 points1 point ago

RAHUUUUUUUUUUUU

[–]tamriilin 0 points1 point ago

How bananas was the story in this game? I seem to remember it being fairly pedestrian and then near the end of the game you GO TO THE FUCKING MOON.

[–]bestro97 0 points1 point ago

This was one of my favorite games of all time!

[–]ScorpMclovin 0 points1 point ago

i fucking loved this game, it was the only one my sister would play, she used the dragon dragon gun like a douche

[–]89733 0 points1 point ago

I had so much fun playing that game.

[–]Legitamte 0 points1 point ago

God I wish they would make another one. The DS one was fun and all, but it wasn't quite as good. This is one of the only multiplayer games on the GC that my group played anywhere close to as much as SSBM.

[–]pattch 0 points1 point ago

God, I would love a sequel for PC.

[–]Zhaosen 0 points1 point ago

oh god...how young is everyone here when a goddamn nintendo gamecube game is getting the nostalgia treatment....oh goddamnit

[–]Macrat 0 points1 point ago

I loved the DS game :D

[–]SupSatire 0 points1 point ago

I was deadly with a fast model and the Stun Gun.

[–]RicyRice 0 points1 point ago

Someone should plan a r/gaming custom robo gaming marathon on Custom Robo Arena WiFi. Anyone in?

[–]wlfbck 0 points1 point ago

This? Yes

[–]Sabbin 0 points1 point ago

This game was fucking awesome. So much nostalgia.

[–]liverpewl 0 points1 point ago

original CR for the n64 ftw

[–]Coolwalsh 0 points1 point ago

One of the funniest parts of this game is getting the can robot parts. I was like "woah the parts are illegal!" and then I was like "how the hell are these illegal?!"

[–]Dukes159 0 points1 point ago

I play this to this day, its the only reason i still use my wii. (Gamecube broke)

[–]spaceman-spiffy 0 points1 point ago

I loved this game and arena for the ds, its such a bummer that this series is probably dead, it would have been great for the wii or wii u
