I wish I had the other half of the end statement. The Christians I'm friends with on FB are extremely nice, but the vast majority of them do plague me with religious doctrine, and if I were to make any post even slightly questioning it they would freak out on me.

Oh look, it's the weekly daily anti-r/atheism thread.

not a religion. Do I really have to explain this again?

I don't think that's what op is implying dude. I think they're just saying that their own Christian friends don't plague them with doctrine. So they're not saying that r/atheism plagues with doctrine just that they overexaggerate when talking about Christians.

I don't even... I'm an atheist and I never post that shit on my facebook wall or anything. On the reverse side it's not uncommon for me to have my news feed frequented by christian's posting there beliefs. I don't care, it doesen't bother me. They are free to practice whatever they want as am I. It just seems people get bothered by it just because its promoting atheism.

As someone who is not a fan of r/atheism but is a fan of atheists let me see if I can word this properly...

A lot of r/atheism posts are whining about how Christians oppress them and don't care about other people. Other atheists I know seem to care less about what other people are believing than what they themselves believe.

R/atheism seems to need to define itself by critiquing the people they think are the "others". This is frustrating because I don't see myself as fundamentally different from most atheists and I don't really believe a lot of the shit that they mention to criticize theists.

And that's why those of us who love atheists as much as anyone else in the world get frustrated with r/atheism. A)A lot of FWP whining about perceived wrongs and B) They isolate themselves by throwing blanket statements at those who are different from them.

Sorry if this went on too long. I spend a lot of time wondering why and being frustrated by the fact that both atheists and theists get their panties all in a twist over each other when the basic message both sides are espousing is love each other - no matter who, no matter what.

Also I will admit that some of the anti-r/atheism posts are getting just as obnoxious and self-righteous as some of the r/atheism posts themselves.
