This scene scared me as a child. I lived in fear that everyone would incinerate at any moment.

[–]Pinneh 71 points72 points ago

I was fucking freaked as a kid. Lived in constant panic of a nuclear bomb or the sun blowing up.

[–]funkyflapsack 26 points27 points ago

I thought I was the only one.

[–]bestadvocate 11 points12 points ago

Fairly common there's a name for it and everything.

[–]bgb111 6 points7 points ago

The cold war.

[–]ronintetsuro 1 point2 points ago

Most people on reddit aren't old enough to know what that is.

[–]Linktank 2 points3 points ago

Mine was fear of impending 9.3+ earthquake, this area is due for one any time in the next/last couple hundred years.

[–]ReadingWoolf 11 points12 points ago

Same here. Didn't help that I lived next to a nuclear power plant. Loved the movie but as a kid it certainly made me feel conflicted.

[–]Gamer_Stix 25 points26 points ago

You were watching Terminator 2 as a child??

[–]hewaslegend 84 points85 points ago

I lived Terminator 2 as a child. Welcome to New Orleans.

[–]PhenomZ 10 points11 points ago

Ditto, Indiana. I remember counting down the days to August 29th, 1997.

[–]cptcliche 27 points28 points ago

I remember Terminator 2 as being my very first R rated movie. Interestingly, I saw it before The Terminator.

[–]MrWx 16 points17 points ago

I share your story.

[–]Astrokiwi 4 points5 points ago

So many of us do.

I also saw Alien 3 before Alien or Aliens.

[–]Mikey-2-Guns 1 point2 points ago

I did that too, despite protests from my Dad to rent the first two movies first...I was not a smart child.

[–]Astrokiwi 1 point2 points ago

The director's cut is actually quite a bit better. And while it's not as cool as the first two movies, it fits into the Aliens mythos a lot better than Alien Resurrection does. I kinda like the idea how the fate of the entire human race basically comes down to a few cultists criminals on the crappiest planet in the galaxy.

[–]precisionguided 1 point2 points ago

I saw aliens first, and fell in love with bill paxton

[–]buttpirate613 1 point2 points ago

I thin a lot of kids from the 90s share this story.

[–]TangoOscarDD 1 point2 points ago

Aliens was my first, Terminator, then T2, back to freakin back.

[–]MrMagpie93 23 points24 points ago

You weren't?

[–]JWilson63 18 points19 points ago

Some of my happiest childhood memories revolve around Terminator 2.

[–]Mikey-2-Guns 1 point2 points ago

I loved being the kid that got to be the liquid terminator when we were playing after that movie came out.

[–]nitefang 3 points4 points ago

Saw it when I was 12. That scene freaked me out but not for more than a few hours or so.

[–]wanderso24 3 points4 points ago

Who wasn't??

[–]a_hundred_boners 3 points4 points ago

i did

[–]LeonardNemoysHead 2 points3 points ago

If you went through your early years without blowing WAY too much time on that T2 arcade game, your childhood was misspent.

[–]javetter 2 points3 points ago

I remember listening to Madonna's song "this used to be my playground" while watching this scene. That song should have been involved with the score.

[–]lakingscrzy 1 point2 points ago

So I looked through the whole thread; what is this from?

[–]Oatybar 1 point2 points ago

Sarah's dream in Terminator 2

[–]giothegreek 39 points40 points ago

Humidity is a bitch.

[–]TheHag 29 points30 points ago

Today I was ready to swim through the air...

[–]spookydrew 4 points5 points ago

i've changed my underwear twice in one day

[–]jimaug87 1 point2 points ago

Gotta get the nylon ones that wick water away from the body.

Cure for swamp ass.

[–]ledzep4life 18 points19 points ago

[–]Conan446 24 points25 points ago

115° in South Georgia, 100% humidity. Get your dry heat outta here.

[–]hosey 5 points6 points ago

South Georgia sucks in the summer. I always laugh when I see desert dwellers complain. At least they can breathe!

[–]SubtlePineapple 2 points3 points ago

I can't speak for anybody more north of me, but in NJ it can get down into the teens during the winter too. We get all the weather conditions.

[–]roboticphish 1 point2 points ago

Minnesota, baby. 90 degrees with high humidity yesterday. Storms intermittently over the past few days, unleashing penny-sized hail and winds up to 72 mph.

And the fucked up part? We think this is the nicest part of the year.

[–]Cease_one 33 points34 points ago

Connecticut here, way to fucking hot already. I miss spring or fall.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]DZ302 3 points4 points ago

I live in Nova Scotia, couldn't believe the heat today, it came out of nowhere.

[–]cdb03b 7 points8 points ago

I live in Texas and it was a cool 83F today.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]CheatingCheetos 1 point2 points ago

You live in Connecticut too? :3

[–]dbarts21 1 point2 points ago

CT! Yeah it was hot as balls. Glad to have a pool at this moment.

[–]dudeedud4 1 point2 points ago

Ohio here man, you'd think we would be used to it by now.

[–]fozzybau5 2 points3 points ago

[–]Remus117 5 points6 points ago

You enjoy wearing a jacket in 98 degree weather?

/sarcasm

[–]cometparty 1 point2 points ago

Hell yeah, s'fuckin' cold.

[–]benihana68 3 points4 points ago

Atlanta's got the humidity, heat, and smog. Feels bad man

[–]lgshade 13 points14 points ago

source?

[–]bahkified 46 points47 points ago

Terminator 2

[–]Hamju 49 points50 points ago

Also Mario Bros.

[–]Mailman487 17 points18 points ago

Ya I thought Terminator 2 was obvious, I laughed when I saw the angry Mario sun

[–]RebelTactics 8 points9 points ago

Wow I'm starting to feel really fucking old. Hey lgShade, you'll start feeling your age soon just give it a bit.

[–]RajanKian 88 points89 points ago

Love how 90 degrees is hot to you.

[–]MaximusBluntus 208 points209 points ago

98 here in jersey. Fuck off, with humidity that's hot.

[–]Likonium[S] 70 points71 points ago

I'd take a dry 110 over a humid 95 any day.

[–]desponia 7 points8 points ago

Exactly! I live in Ohio, lived in California to 8 months, and my friends tend to make offhand comments about how 95 isn't that bad. I turned around the compared our forecasts: Their forecast was: 100 w/ 19% humidity, ours was: 95 w/ 55% humidity. When I lived there, it would get to about 111, and yeah it was hot, but it never bothered me. Dry heat is way more tolerable.

[–]Lupus1339 6 points7 points ago

When I moved from new england to colorado I was freaking out because as soon as I got off the plane I was supposed to unload the moving truck and the forcast said it was 98ish. Everyone else was bitching about the heat and all I could think was "This is nothing compared to 98 back east... nothing..." Humidity is not to be fucked with.

[–]Makes_Shitty_Points 5 points6 points ago

Humidity gives Wu Tang Clan a run for it's money in the "ain't nuthin' to fuck wit" department.

Welcome to all summer in Houston

[–]DreadPiratesRobert 46 points47 points ago

Was about to say, Texas is around 100 every day and humid (especially in Houston, good thing I live in Austin)

[–]please_note 33 points34 points ago

Precisely, you get what you can reasonably expect. In Jersey, that shit's not cool. We expect maybe 90 degree weather at the peak of the season for maybe a couple days.

[–]marbel 7 points8 points ago

Yeah, but It always feels like a few days over 95 sneak in there every summer...complete with 80% freaking humidity...booooo

[–]DreadPiratesRobert 3 points4 points ago

Yeah, doesn't mean I enjoy this heat at all, I work outside too, not very much fun

[–]trentshipp 9 points10 points ago

Hill country here. I think we had 92 days of over 100 degrees last year. And the humidity isn't exactly low either, what with all the lakes evaporating 0_o

[–]DreadPiratesRobert 6 points7 points ago

Hill country as well (well Lake Travis area), and yeah, I know all the very well

I have to be a lifeguard this week, my goodness my shirt is yellow from sweat

[–]tyrghast 2 points3 points ago

It didn't even freeze in my area this winter.

Shorts year round.

[–]SpareChang 2 points3 points ago

Hey I live in Austin too, yay! That's it.. oh yeah and it's hot as shit

[–]DreadPiratesRobert 1 point2 points ago

I know, it's terribly hot

[–]mrminty 1 point2 points ago

Although it is humid as shit in ATX right now.

[–]mcmonkey819 1 point2 points ago

This is right near the top of my list entitled: "Reasons I never want to live in Texas"

[–]SnoochieBoochies182 1 point2 points ago

Ireland here. What does .. "Not rain", (is that what you call it?) look like.

[–]bmk2k 9 points10 points ago

There is not enough antiperspirant in the world for Houstonians. And the mosquitoes...

[–]ForrestFireDW 7 points8 points ago

Oh god the mosquitoes... I was ate alive last night. In the summer in houston you can't go out because its too hot during the day and too many mosquitoes at night.

[–]mainsworth 4 points5 points ago

One good thing about the drought last year, no mosquitos.

[–]40_watt_range 8 points9 points ago

You mean Spring Summer and Fall in Houston.

If I owned hell and Houston I'd live in Hell and rent out Houston.

[–]zuulthedestroyer 4 points5 points ago

Going to Houston in august. gonna live in a whataburger. Nice cool whataburger.

[–]nickminunni 1 point2 points ago

Confirmed. The high school I went to had no a/c except for the computer rooms. But when you walked into those room, it was like seeing boobies for the first time.

[–]siegewolf 3 points4 points ago

They also get winter in the negatives. Top that.

[–]lakingscrzy 2 points3 points ago

I've maintained that if Florida is the dick of America, then the gulf must be the taint. It's swamp-ass...everywhere.

[–]catoftrash 1 point2 points ago

North Florida swamp region. You don't know humidity until you've been here.

[–]DOWNWTDASICKNESS 15 points16 points ago

116 here in Phoenix Arizona and when i first moved here it got up to 121

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]Derkek 3 points4 points ago

It's bad here.

Walking outside literally feels like when you open your oven door when baking cookies. It's a wave of heat that punches you in the face.

[–]DOWNWTDASICKNESS 2 points3 points ago

I wish I was kidding we have dogs and theres no way you can leave them out side or take them out for walks during the day the ground would burn their paws and if you park in the sun good luck not burning your hands on the steering wheel

[–]TurdsMaGee 2 points3 points ago

68, cool and sunny in Seattle.

[–]Stormageddon222 2 points3 points ago

Holy shit! It's sunny in Seattle? The weather's fucked up everywhere!

[–]Man_child7 9 points10 points ago

94-96 in Vermont

[–]cometparty 6 points7 points ago

It will probably be 90+ degrees every day until the middle of winter here in Texas. Every. Day.

[–]SuddenlySpuds 3 points4 points ago

It's pretty brutal in VT right now. Humidity sucks.

[–]Man_child7 1 point2 points ago

It's 12:25 and I'm laying in bed in my boxers but couldn't sleep because it's too humid

[–]SuddenlySpuds 1 point2 points ago

Yup, I feel you bro. Nothing worse than trying to sleep surrounded by moist air. At least the A/C is doing its part.

[–]Man_child7 11 points12 points ago

I've just got a fan on full power. No porn tonight I guess.

[–]SuddenlySpuds 5 points6 points ago

Too hot. I don't need to sweat anymore than I already am.

[–]BroadStreetElite 1 point2 points ago

Too hot out to even fap...

[–]redditfromwork 1 point2 points ago

The heat index is Boston was 98 degrees, at 1 fucking AM!

[–]Notsoluckybrian 1 point2 points ago

I was in Vermont for 10 days around the 1st of June and for the most part it was raining the whole time -_-

[–]Man_child7 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, that was nice. I love the rain

[–]zeroes0 3 points4 points ago

In February we had a 92 degree day in Texas...FEBRURARY =/...we've already seen 101 degree weather over. I guess we better call Rick Perry to pray the hot weather away...

[–]Markymark36 1 point2 points ago

HA

[–]TheAstroChemist 1 point2 points ago

98 with with WORSE humidity occurs frequently in the south during the summer.

[–]ponyrides 1 point2 points ago

Every day >75% humidity. I live under a hot wet blanket.

[–]KoodooKooskoos 1 point2 points ago

Jersey's an awful place to be in 98* weather. Seriously. Those green skies begin to ooze.

[–]Likonium[S] 15 points16 points ago

50 is shorts weather here (Massachusetts), what's it for you?

[–]Almirith 2 points3 points ago

35

[–]Manocean 2 points3 points ago

In Florida, anything below 70 is jeans, brrrr

[–]mandingophil 20 points21 points ago

wait till your ass adapts to it being in the negatives for so long, then spike up to over 100 and humid.

[–]wheremydirigiblesat 4 points5 points ago

That got me to wondering, what US city has the biggest temperature difference over the course of the year (including humidity for the high and wind chill for the low)?

Edit: Let's say a city with a population of at least 200k.

[–]BasketOfCats 7 points8 points ago

I live by St. Paul/Minneapolis and yesterday it pushed 100°F and it was sticky. About 7 months ago, it was -10°F and the windchill brought it down to about -20°F. Probably not the most drastic in the nation or whatever, but notable nonetheless.

[–]SirCyclops 1 point2 points ago

Yeah we get really hot muggy summers and bone chilling winters. Worst of both seasons

[–]sje46 1 point2 points ago

According to below link, for a city of at least 200K, Minneapolis, MN, with a 59.9 degree difference (that would be 33.3 Celsius).

[–]mkruk45 1 point2 points ago

A 59.9 degree difference in Farenheit is not a 15.5 degree difference in Celsius, its a 33.3 degree difference.

[–]BarackEmRack 3 points4 points ago

I'm from southern California and 80 degrees feels hot as fuck!

[–]Lupus1339 1 point2 points ago

Southern California... If it's not 72 and sunny people begin to panic...

[–]Illadelphian 3 points4 points ago

Please the humidity is brutal. The heat isn't what so bad, it's the humidity.

[–]scottmale24 7 points8 points ago

40 degrees is t-shirt weather, here.

[–]pancakehangover 2 points3 points ago

112 in arizona

[–]mcoree 2 points3 points ago

101 on Long Island with humidity.

[–]jojojoy 4 points5 points ago

It hit 101 in boston.

[–]Endlessxo 1 point2 points ago

I think we got 105 a couple years back. Almost to 110. Almost.

[–]asshatnowhere 1 point2 points ago

120 here in the middle east. at least its not that humid depending on the wind direction

[–]luketheduke03 1 point2 points ago

It got triple digits in CT. It was also humid as fuck.

[–]Quatroking 1 point2 points ago

I hope to god that you're talking about that Fahrenheit thing. I'm in the netherlands and sweet jesus 90 degrees would almost cook the sea.

[–]Stormageddon222 1 point2 points ago

Fuck that shit, I can't stand anything over 80 F. Unfortunately I live in NC so our whole summer will be 90-100 F with at least 80% humidity. My ideal temperate is around the mid 50's. Most in NC consider that a little cold, but that's t-shirt and shorts weather for me.

[–]retracedylan 2 points3 points ago

105 in Nebraska a couple days ago. Hit negative 50 this past winter with wind chill.

[–]JoinRedditTheySaid 0 points1 point ago

Love how a 1/2 inch of snow constitutes closing all the schools for you

[–]Swaqqalicious 35 points36 points ago

I live in AZ, bitch please.

[–]massiveterra 37 points38 points ago

Yeah but humidity

[–]boom929 50 points51 points ago

And AZ is prepared to handle that kind of weather. The northeast doesn't usually have to handle it.

[–]Bananarine 25 points26 points ago

AZ is prepared to handle a nuclear strike?

[–]boom929 55 points56 points ago

Yes, they even built a couple shitty cities to make a good show of destruction.

Oh snap.

[–]CompactedPrism 8 points9 points ago

No ones likes Tucson anyways.

[–]atomicUpdate 9 points10 points ago

:(

[–]nazihatinchimp 8 points9 points ago

It's a dry heat. Come to Charleston where it's 99% humidity everyday. It's like a sweat lodge.

[–]Stormageddon222 1 point2 points ago

I live in Greensboro, NC. I know that feel.

[–]JWilkesBooth 1 point2 points ago

Us northern folk are used to CD winters/spring/fall. We don't do well in heat :(.

[–]danosaur 1 point2 points ago

Hah, that's cute :)

-Love from Australia.

[–]minibeardeath 0 points1 point ago

I was gonna say the same thing. It was 102 out and I still rode my bike to get to school. NBD.

[–]Killer_Brig 8 points9 points ago

98 here in southern Ohio. I spent all day resurfacing a parking lot. Minimum wage slave at your service!

[–]crispypancake25 1 point2 points ago

Sounds awful, but as a person who both lives in the northeast and has a father whose in the HVAC business, attics become hell within seconds, but I personally haven't resurfaced a parking lot so I can't accurately say which is worse.

[–]Treythetrebor 5 points6 points ago

That is what the weather is like every day in Texas.

[–]Oatybar 14 points15 points ago

Until they get a quarter inch of snow and shut down everything.

[–]guluru 1 point2 points ago

One of my favorite parts about living in Texas.

[–]boom929 1 point2 points ago

I beleive you're referring to BLIZZARD WATCH 20XX.

[–]elcucuuuy 2 points3 points ago

I wish I would've had the hammer suit ready for today.

[–]rayychilll 2 points3 points ago

Massachusetts here. Should be about a 100 around here today..

[–]GSnow 2 points3 points ago

Arizona resident here. It's supposed to get up to 108 today, and maybe 110 tomorrow. It is a very dry heat, so that definitely makes a difference. Although any time it gets above 102 or so, you'll hear the locals start to grumble about it being too hot...but everyone is VERY cognizant of the fact that it's nothing like a humid heat. When it's a dry heat, the high temperature is an inconvenience and a caution. The humidity that people have to live with elsewhere just sucks the life out of you. I feel bad for you folks in the northeast right now.

[–]jonnielaw 3 points4 points ago

Oh, my sweet winter child, what do you know of heat? Heat is for the the August, my little lord, when the humidity rises to a hundred percent and the sun comes blazing from the East. Heat is for the longest days, when the sun shines its face for hours at a time, and little children are born and live and sweat all in brightness while the obese become half naked and glistening, and the white people turn lobster red.

[–]hosey 1 point2 points ago

The summer is hot and full of terrors.

[–]Slyfox00 3 points4 points ago

Deployed in Kuwait, 118 everyday, drops to 95 at night.

Normal day in NW Florida.

[–]Lesentic 1 point2 points ago

I wouldn't know I havent left my house once this summer.

[–]jedberg 1 point2 points ago

Seriously, I had to shower 3 times today. I'm so glad I'm going back to California tomorrow!

[–]VegitoFusion 1 point2 points ago

This is very true. The second I came home I collapsed in front of my fan and didn't do anything but Reddit for the next 3 hours.

[–]Myrandall 2 points3 points ago

So, just an ordinary day?

[–]coolman4202 1 point2 points ago

Where is this from?

[–]Kantham 1 point2 points ago

This is now my new favorite .GIF.

And yes, northeast redditor here. It's 38-ish in my room right now (felt, at night)

[–]kroatia04 1 point2 points ago

San Francisco here. MORE FUCKING HEAT WAVES! IT'S TOO FUCKING COLD AND MISERABLE HERE!!

[–]MonkeyShocked 1 point2 points ago

109 with humidity up here in Ontario, Canada. Sorry about that.

Edit: Added with humidity

[–]Shippoyasha 1 point2 points ago

You know it's hot when delivery men stop at water sprinklers and practically get a mini-shower.

[–]hunterdematteo 1 point2 points ago

new jersey sucked with the heat and i hate the beaches because of all the toolbag fucks you wanna kick in the throat

[–]BonzoTheBoss 1 point2 points ago

What is this "summer" you speak of? Surely you mean a slightly warm rain? -Brit

[–]Doc88 1 point2 points ago

This brings back memories when I used to listen to Adam Carolla on Loveline with Dr. Drew and he would go on a rant about the goddamn heat.

[–]liltbrockie 1 point2 points ago

In London its about 55F and raining. Yay

[–]Apex-Nebula 1 point2 points ago

How summer hit's Ireland every day.

[–]umbraphiles 1 point2 points ago

As someone who just moved from Alabama to Maryland this week, it feels so, so nice up here.

Fuck it, I'm moving to Antarctica.

[–]carloscarllos 3 points4 points ago

I would rather live under this sun than be buried in the snow any day.

[–]racehonestythrowaway 25 points26 points ago

That's because you're a Hispanic.

[–]x755x 18 points19 points ago

Really? I love the cold. You can always put on more layers, but when it's hot and you've taken off everything, you're pretty much fucked.

[–]DatBunny 1 point2 points ago

Too true ;_;

[–]Grandmaofhurt 0 points1 point ago

I just moved up here from Charleston and having grown up in Atlanta, this ain't shit.

Fuck that snow shit though, ya'll can keep that.

[–]breannabalaam 0 points1 point ago

It's been in the 90's for the past few days here in WI, and we had a few scattered 90+ days starting in May (with heat indexes over 100). We usually barely get this weather in July/August, but May? This is going to be a loooong summer :(

[–]Anonazon2 0 points1 point ago

Seattle here, we haven't had a day warmer than 72 degrees yet.

[–]TVninja 0 points1 point ago

Yeah I had to work in a hot kitchen all day too I spent all my breaks in the walk-in refrigerator

[–]Hovertac 0 points1 point ago

This is so accurate, it's crazy. I've got my own personal server room, that is currently being cooled with buckets of ice and large fans.

[–]hbdgas 0 points1 point ago

I think it was a lot more shocking when we hit the 80s in March.
