The only real white attitude part is not including whites in that % (which would be 100%). As long as no ethnicity holds over 50% of the population EVERYONE is a minority.

I looked this up because I wanted to make sure this was wrong, and it turned out to be right. Majority needs to be over 50 percent, whereas plurality is the largest subset considered! Interesting.

Edit: Just saw this was discussed in other places farther down. Oh well!

Would that not be for voting or mostly revolve around the election process? In general isn't majority just the largest group? OED's first definitioin is:

Being greater; the greater part.

So when just talking about a population of people, I think it'd be correct to say majority for a group under 50%.

Could be referring to the sociological terminology, in which even if a group was only 5% of the population but held most of the sway over politics and economics, they would be considered the majority. As most of American political and economic power is driven by white males, they hold majority title.

The problem with that logic is that "minorities" is a collective noun for all "minor" races. If there are 40% white people, 20% black, 20% asian and 20% Lithuanian, the white people are still the relative majority.
