it looks like an illinois license plate; they can give you normal plates nowadays when you buy a new car so you dont have to deal with temps. idk if its the case in other states, but that's what happened when i bought a new car a couple months ago in illinois

As long as you already have the tags, this is true. I totaled my car Halloween 2 years ago, I took the tags off my old car, walked into the dealership the next day, and they transferred my tags to my new car. No Temp Tags at all.

              Depends. I wouldn't mind shelling out $30,000 to buy a car for one of my best friends and I actually gave my Lexus RX to one of my friends after he fell into some bad luck. These are the type of people that have always been there for me and have never asked me for anything and constantly pick up the tab at restaurants even when I make a much larger amount of money than them.

                    Y'know, $150,000 for a brand new Camaro is a lot, but first, we're talking about a charity auction, and second, the MSRP for the top Camaro package is over $54k, and that's "starting at". So, triple the value at a charity auction? Not really surprising. 5x the value? Still not too surprising. Basically, they're donating $100k and $200k to the charities, respectively.

                      Y'know, today's Camaro is not the same as the Camaro originally started out, and probably the Camaro/image you are accustomed to. It used to be a cheap sports car, sure, marketed specifically for its affordability. Bare bones interiors, very few features, etc. It was a sportscar for the everyman. But this new Camaro... is a whole other monster. It might as well be marketed as an old man's luxury car. Heated seats, whisper quiet interior, a backseat that's actually functional? And just look at the fucking price, it's obscene.

                      That, sir, is not the cheap redneck Camaro I know and love. The new Camaro is a rich people car.

                      I actually prefer the old Camaros. A real muscle car and none of this modern plastic and seat-belt alarm nonsense. But that's what deters the actually wealthy from buying it. American cars in general have a very poor rapport. You'll find upper-income folks buying this, but they'll also be buying Lexus' and Mustangs and living in developments. When I say rich, I mean Ford GT and an original E-type rich.

                      All those little additions like heated seats and sound-dampening are just detracting from the appeal of the car to anyone who knows better. I was mostly just poking fun at the new Camaros, because I don't like them, but it really is true that you won't find many wealthy people buying these cars. There are lots of people with some money, though, and quite a few have very little taste or sense.

                      I'd say an M6 is a rich person's car. A Camaro is more of a middle-America debt multiplier, these days. Or a sign that you own an adult entertainment store and a pricey hairpiece.

                      Obviously there's no way to definitively say people of high means never buy Camaros, but my own experience has led me to believe it's a rare occurrence and generally not met with approval or encouragement.

                      To put what I'm getting at in context, buying a modern Camaro is a bit like vacationing in Orlando.

                      EDIT: to be fair, the kind of rich people I'm talking about don't buy their mistresses cars and then talk about it on Facebook. Or even have Facebook, I suppose.

                      Whew. I thought you were just shitting on Camaros to be shitting on Camaros. I am a muscle car girl myself. As for "rich people cars"... economic status is such a sliding scale for me... I'm so far down, "rich" to me is anyone buying a new car off the lot, much less anyone actually being pulled in by this luxury feature nonsense. An M6 or a Porsche or such are so far out of the realm of possibility for me, it doesn't even register as "rich." Those are like... celebrity status to me.

                      I was highly disappointed when the new Camaro came out, at both the price and the design. It's like they didn't even try. I try not to miss an opportunity to bitch about it.

                      I actually really like the styling and the efforts to put the muscle back into the car, after the horrible 80s and 90s versions of the Camaro. That being said, they've somewhat redefined the customer base for the car. As you said, it's not really for those of us working 9-5 (or trying to find work, in my case), and it's definitely not for those who need fuel efficiency for a commute.

                      This new Camaro really is a higher-end beast than the 70s models. It's powerful, filled with luxury, and like nearly all new cars, very complicated. The old ones were all about big, bulky style, power, and affordability, to an extent. They were fairly easy to work on (pretty simple 305/350 engine), and they just had a good appeal to people who wanted some class and style, but couldn't afford the high-end stuff.

                      Saying they're overpriced is hard to argue against. An MSRP of 23 grand just to get in the door is pushing it a bit compared to the relative price of the '69s, but it's not outrageous. What IS outrageous is the price when you start putting in "extras", but that's just what happens when you get add-ons.

                      As for style, that's definitely subjective. Hard to argue taste, and I personally disagree. I think the new ones look pretty damn cool, especially compared to the 90s and 80s models. I love the front end on it, and it does have a good throwback feel for me, without going overboard.
