I don't really think so. Although it is running on a machine when you could run on the ground, this thing allows you to maintain energy, you'll roll down hills and keep on going unlike with running normally.

If it's geared like a bicycle then yeah, but what if the treadmill's directly linked to the wheels and keeps going when the wheels spin? Downhill could be...unpleasant.

I don't see any connection to the rear wheel and the treadmill is going the wrong way for a 1-1 friction connection, so I assume its just a joke rolling down hill. I like mechanical things and this was bothering me.. Funny, regardless, as there are several seemingly redundant products out anyway, such as that sliding trike thing.

Edit: The treadmill is spinning the right way for it to push the wheel directly. I think I was going by the direction of the top of the tread and relative ground motion.

That's what I meant, except for some reason I thought the treadmill and tire were spinning the same way, meaning they'd need an idler between. Nevermind. Rubber to rubber? I'm sure there's enough friction to get this ridiculous contraption moving. There's a lot of pulley reduction, it looks, and bikes are easy to roll. As silly and redundant as it looks, maybe it gives more exercise than biking but less than running. A niche for Suburban Mom.

Actually, it looks like she's going slower than she would be if she was running. I guess it could be useful to get more exercise per distance, but an easier solution would just be to increase the distance.
