dose my first reaction to a game count. because people post reviews of games here. just because it's a snap decision of a game it should still be counted under the gaming sub reddit

Reaction GIFs (...unrelated to gaming) violate the rules of the subreddit, and (if posted as a submission rather than a comment) would be removed.

As far as official announcements go, there's no confirmation that there'll even be one. But it's very likely to happen in another couple of weeks.

Because the controls are hard to get used to, and there's a real time day/night cycle. Night in DayZ is basically a black screen with maybe an outline of the horizon. You can't see a thing without a flashlight or flares, and like I said, hard controls. He probably didn't know how to throw flares.

Also, with the newest update, apparently you don't get any weapons to start off with, no food, no water, and the Zombies can see you through walls, and proceed to walk through those walls to kill you.

i know the controls because i played Arma 2 by it's for a while so i knew all the controls. but yeah having a black screen and staring up with no weapon. it was a very steep learning curve.

Also, if you're unlucky with your server choice, you can get a slow server where everyone has 2fps. I fell off the school in Electro and lost my combat shotty because I lagged while moving a bit. Now I'm back to having nothing but painkillers, a bandage and a flashlight. On the bright side, dead body with a grenade on it :D

Ghost zombies? That sounds distinctly crappy and un-fun for all the ridiculous hype this game is getting.

Yeah, my bad. I hadn't updated to the newest at the time of writing that, and thought they were still able to do it. My thoughts on the newest one? No ghost zombies is nice. No guns or food is not nice :(

I'm sorry to hear that. I won't lie that I killed the bus driver of the bus I acquired, but it was one I found earlier and was trying to fix. 3 other people and me then went on to find 2 ATVs, 3 Bicycles, a Motorcycle, and a Civilian Ural.

Because you can't see anything. You now have a flashlight but no gun. So, you can barely see anything and can't defend yourself against from the zombies you can't see. And if you do use your flashlight you'll give your position away to other players, which isn't bad, but sometimes someone is watching who just wants to shoot your head off for the fun of it.

I had a small bit of water between where i spawned and main land started swimming to main land, saw an out line of someone else in the water. got really close. announcing my presents in every language i could think of. and of course... it was a fucking ZOMBIE. Zombies Swim.... News to me.

Weeeell. When you are starting, change servers until you pick one on daytime. Not sure if night is bugged or not, but is extremely (unrealistically) dark, for now, without nightvision googles is hard to play during the night.

The current patch (1.7.1.1) is bugged, loot is all messed up, with weapons all over the place, but no drinks nor food. The starting up without guns is intentional, but gun spawns near the coast are more frequent.

Check tutorials, there are a lot in the DayZ forums. I'm a rookie myself, started 2 days ago, there is a guide in /r/DayZ that shows which controls actually are used in DayZ so you can switch them how you want. Search for "controls" in the subreddit.

I'm not certain (I've lived in a suburb all my life), but I believe that without the light of the moon or illumination from nearby cities, the night gets pretty damned dark. It would be cool if the game tracked moon phases and illuminated the darkness accordingly.

Yeah, well, the game is in alpha stages, everything can just get better. I think the night thing is more a design decision than a real life based decision. I know how it is to be without light sources in places that go from deserts to virgin forests, and the forest is dark, but in the sense that makes your navigation slow, not impossible :P

3:30am should be a decent time to play, try playing right when the sun goes down, it's literally pitch black.
