Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Spoiler code

Please mark spoilers like this:
[text here](/spoiler)

Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), weight loss photos, posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. Weight loss photos go in /r/loseit, DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

If you actually read the "anti-txting" laws, they have specific exemptions for emergency vehicle operators (aka. Police, fire, EMTs)

[–]DreadPiratesRobert 3 points4 points ago

Most the time they need them to do their job, and they are professional drivers, they know whats up

[–]deserteagle2525 1 point2 points ago

The problem with that logic is, what makes them professional drivers? Wouldn't professional race care drivers be exempt to, what are the qualifications to become a "professional" driver? It is a non standardized concept with no baseline.

Just because you're a professional doesn't give you a right to endanger innocent peoples lives, accidents still happen no matter how good you are. With the matter of cars and so many people on the road, the risk needs to be mitigated as much as possible, hence anti-texting laws.

Not only that, police officers should not be above the law. The argument that they need to text to do their job is bullshit. That's what radios and hands free devices are for.

[–]retix 0 points1 point ago

Not to play devil's advocate, but technically they aren't above the law since there is a specific exemption. The reason for that is because they need to be able to use the MDT (their computer terminal) for running computer checks and even being dispatched to calls.

That being said, there is a difference between using issued equipment (MDT) and sending a txt message (which probably isn't related to law enforcement)

Good point, in the picture looks like a cellphone with his thumbs typing a text message.

If only we were in Russia...

It appears to me that the car from which the picture was taken from and the cop aren't moving. If they were the truck wouldn't be blurred as it is in passing.

[–]headzoo 0 points1 point ago

The truck would certainly be blurred if it was traveling faster than the other two cars.

[–]BadInPublic 0 points1 point ago

And it would have to be going at a much higher speed than the other two cars. Face it, the cop was at a stand still.

[–]headzoo 0 points1 point ago

And? Otherwise I agree with you. The guard rail, which you can see through the cop car window, is not blurred. However I don't usually see guard rails on anything but highways, which isn't a place people are parked.

[–]alphanovember -1 points0 points ago

Not to mention the blur on the truck looks exactly like the crappy blur filter in Photoshop.

Reposted from the original that went up two days ago: http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/uz77j/its_a_good_thing_ohio_just_passed_a_no_texting/

But you were shady enough to crop out the road (seen in the original post) that also clearly shows the deputy was stationary while texting, not driving. The way you cropped it with the truck (which was moving) makes it look like the deputy took both hands off the wheel and looked away from the road while driving.

Tsk, Tsk, OP.

"I'm at work, dog, what the fuck do you want?"

[–]DontLickThat -4 points-3 points ago

I doubt you actually took this picture, but if you did, you should get the car number and report it to the local precinct.

[–]IAmTheBean -3 points-2 points ago

Or just report Sheriff Zach Scott, assuming he knows which jurisdiction to check.

[–]MuffinBaskt 3 points4 points ago

That is most likely the sheriff's ('s?) name, not the officer driving.

[–]soapgoat -3 points-2 points ago

when photographing police breaking the law, get the numbers in the pic mang
