This shouldn't have made me laugh, but it's too accurate.

[–]LatrellSprewell 29 points30 points ago

This shouldn't have made me cry, but it's too accurate.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points ago

Way too accurate.

[–]aschesklave 36 points37 points ago

I went through this.

My ex just asked me "When are you going to grow up?"

Fuck her.

[–]Chilly73 4 points5 points ago

She doesn't get it. She can sit and spin.

[–]aschesklave 1 point2 points ago

She's some other guy's problem now.

[–]Chilly73 0 points1 point ago

Perfect way of thinking. You are a strong, good-looking dude. Let her nag someone else into the mental ward.

[–]aschesklave 0 points1 point ago

I'm not really that good looking, but thanks. <3

[–]Chilly73 0 points1 point ago

Still, you don't need a nag. I'm trying to curb my nagging. It's hard because I was raised by a group of first-class, certified bitches. (Mom and my aunt) I hate nagging, whether it's me or some other chick. I think it's ground to smack someone.

[–]aschesklave 0 points1 point ago

My god, she nagged and started arguments over nothing. >_<

I get enough of that from my father as it is.

[–]Chilly73 0 points1 point ago

Being a chick, I feel that kind of immature bullshit brings all women down a notch. I'm sorry, hun.

[–]aschesklave 0 points1 point ago

There are good women and there are bitches, and there are good men and there are bastards. I'm over it. I have my friends, so I'm good. <3

[–]Chilly73 0 points1 point ago

You're awesome. :)

[–]PhedreRachelle -2 points-1 points ago

I've learned that attractive has a lot more to do with personality, style, and confidence than it does with the features you were born with. I always thought that was a cliche and one of those false feel good about yourself things, but now as an adult it is absolutely true. YES, even if you are overweight with a unibrow and horrible acne. You can dress for your weight, manage that unibrow, and treat your skin, and then just be comfortable in yourself and you'll get way more ladies than that muscly guy that never showers

[–]_SGP_ 1 point2 points ago

I went through this with my girlfriend. She finished with me yesterday through facebook message! :(

[–]Kaypas88 0 points1 point ago

My ex-boyfriend says the same thing to me almost everyday. I feel your pain, I wish the people would understand depression is not something we can turn on or off so easily, much more complicated then a matter of "growing up" :(

[–]Redplushie 1 point2 points ago

Ahh that song. I loved it :). I remember the good old days of Kpop.

[–]PhedreRachelle 32 points33 points ago

My counsellor told me the best thing in our last session. She spent nearly the whole time asking me why it was bad that I didn't keep my place clean?

Do you have bugs? No

Does it smell? No

Does it harm anything? No

Are there any negative consequences? I can't find things. Is that really hurting anything? No

Do you think everyone keeps their place clean? No..

Why do you think this is bad? Because it's important to care about your place.

Do you care about your place? Yes.

Is it possible that you are living by other's standards, and not your own? Maybe..

Then a lot of personal stuff I won't share that really drove her point home

She finished off with telling me to go home and not clean, and to instead do my exercises, because I am worth it. Then she asks "do you believe that?" No. So she spends the last 10 minutes of the session convincing me I am (not that it sticks permanently, but gets better every time)

Such a good session..

[–]lissoms 15 points16 points ago

Is it possible that you are living by other's standards, and not your own?

This really hit home with me. Thanks, man.

[–]SkepticalExcitement 12 points13 points ago

It was so good it even helped me. Thanks for that :)

[–]PhedreRachelle 2 points3 points ago

Helping others is that one thing that has always and still makes me happy, so thank you for that!

[–]prostidude 4 points5 points ago

Your counsellor is a champ!

[–]PhedreRachelle 2 points3 points ago

Thankyou! And also quite glad that I can talk about having a counselor somewhere and I get positive response instead of that fear look people get

[–]Indifference11 1 point2 points ago

I'm going to start to counsellor soon and hopefully I'd have the same success

[–]PhedreRachelle 0 points1 point ago

Certainly isn't instant, but something about a person that has no ulterior motives other than helping you get better makes it a very good healing environment. I don't have that usual distrust. Hurray for trained and impartial strangers!

[–]TheUKLibertarian 0 points1 point ago

Just out of curiosity, if somebody wanted to get a counsillor I would imagine the quality would vary WILDLY betwen them. Are there online sites where people can review their councillors (anonymously) almostl ike on amazon or Reddit or whatever. Make sure you're getting a good recommendation?

[–]PhedreRachelle 1 point2 points ago

I'm not too sure myself. Locally, we have a registry for Psychologists in our province. I just went through those nearby, read up on them, and picked one that sounded best suited to my personality and needs. I went for an initial session to see how it would go and thankfully it went wonderfully. I know there is ratemd.com, but I think that is for medical doctors exclusively

[–]TheUKLibertarian 0 points1 point ago

Thanks. Lovely answer :)

[–]lissoms 30 points31 points ago

This kinda reminds me of Allie Brosh's post about depression on Hyperbole and a Half. Totally worth reading.

[–]Fertile_Taco 2 points3 points ago

That was pretty amazing. Thanks for posting that.

[–][deleted] ago

[–]silverbeat 1 point2 points ago

I highly doubt that.

[–]whereismankindgoing 0 points1 point ago

i cried tears of laughter and sadness upon reading that.

[–]Acidsparx 13 points14 points ago

At first I thought the person was turning into a shrimp. Then I realized it was the shirt.

[–]snailboy 11 points12 points ago

Sometimes depression feels like you're turning into a shrimp...

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points ago

Or a cockroach. There's a nice story about that.

[–]drawing_blanks 4 points5 points ago

This is the first post I have read on this subreddit that accurately describes how I feel.

[–]HHSOCCER28 7 points8 points ago

Every day is another chance to make peace with myself but I would rather be dead.

[–]ArrowHound 4 points5 points ago

This is how i spent my entire today....

[–]WcOwl 4 points5 points ago

wayyyy too accurate

[–]dick_long_wigwam 5 points6 points ago

"Draw a comic that illustrates how you feel and post it online."

NOOOO

[–]Patty_Jack 1 point2 points ago

Life.. Bleh.

[–]YodaMush 1 point2 points ago

This feeling has torn years out of my life. Coupled with procrastination and some anxiety and I look like some spoiled or stuck up kid who doesn't want to do anything for himself. That's not me. I'm just depressed.

[–]Chilly73 1 point2 points ago

It's strange, how many people here understand how I feel. Could you all be my peeps??

[–]kittenkat4u 2 points3 points ago

i laughed and then realized i'm laughing at myself.

[–]P-Dot-Guillemot13 1 point2 points ago

Too true. I saw something similar to this a long time ago. Like years. This is different enough for me to consider it original. I really like the drawings theyre so accurate :(

[–]lamespaghetti 5 points6 points ago

You're right, this comic is very similar to the Hyperbole and a Half one. Link.

[–]bainer_m 1 point2 points ago

I almost started crying like halfway through haha. Sad.

[–]lunaticMOON 1 point2 points ago

Damn. Just damn.

[–]_meraxes 0 points1 point ago

My past 15 years...

[–]naynay15 0 points1 point ago

I shouldn't have laughed but it explained me so well

[–]_SGP_ 0 points1 point ago

sounds like my mum talking to me. or anyone trying to wake me up.

[–]ladybrienne 0 points1 point ago

This sums it up so perfectly. It's so frustrating just sitting there and I don't want to do even the fun stuff like reading and watching tv, let alone exercise or study.

[–]winndixie 0 points1 point ago

Doing nothing is also a form of doing something.. Yet people can also do things without really doing much

[–]DragonUnicornBattle 0 points1 point ago

This speaks to me.

[–]zorggi3 0 points1 point ago

haha, yeah. happens to me too.

there's the inner voice that tells me it's okay, and time to get up, then there's the little bastard that tells me i'm worthless.

then there's me and i'm like "wtf ;__;"

[–]Sp33d0J03 0 points1 point ago

Chin up.

[–]MercuryMadness 0 points1 point ago

So... you're new here I see...

[–][deleted] ago

[–]glorygem 5 points6 points ago

This has been circulating on tumblr, as well. Not sure about the original artist.

[–][deleted] ago

[–]catlandia 1 point2 points ago

Because no two people ever experience similar depressive effects. Ever. Nope.

He never claimed he made it. Actually, the way it was presented suggested to me that s/he found a comic that accurately represented the way they feel and chose to share. You know, because most of us depressed people feel misunderstood and struggle to express the problems so it's nice when you see a way to be understood. Just like I now saw it and showed it to my boyfriend because it really describes it perfectly.

Calm the fuck down, karma doesn't matter

I think I will just wait and see if ramp_tram continues to conduct their posts in this fashion while in /depression. If so, reporting may be an order. This kind of behavior is unwelcome here, as clearly stated in the side bar

[–]PhedreRachelle -1 points0 points ago

They're only karma whoring to you because you care about how much karma people get

It's a good post, relevant to the subreddit, and something some of us havent seen before and others are happy to see again.

Go take your judgements to a more appropriate subreddit please

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]PhedreRachelle 0 points1 point ago

There's a fancy little hide button that you can use. Some people just want the world to work exclusively for them apparently, get over it

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]PhedreRachelle 0 points1 point ago

Lol you have control over yourself buddy, just move on

[–]thisfaggotcatfish -4 points-3 points ago

I'm not sure why you're being down voted. It looks VERY similar.

[–]PhedreRachelle 3 points4 points ago

Because posting something that is similar to what has been posted before is not karma whoring. There is nothing by which to determine that, and besides who the fuck cares

You guys are in the wrong subreddit, seriously.

"Ask for or provide support with depression related issues. This is a place for support. Abuse, pro-suicide comments, tough love, discussion of suicide or self harm methods, religious proselytizing, trolling, or incitement to self harm or violence in comment or pm is strictly forbidden and can result in a ban. If you see anything like this in a post, comment, or PM please message the moderators."

[–]thisfaggotcatfish -4 points-3 points ago

Oh, sorry about that. My bad for sticking up for someone pointing out obvious plagiarism.

[–]nicoman37 2 points3 points ago

Please, just leave. Who cares if it's not original? It helps us connect to others with similar feelings. We don't need your kind of comments here.

[–]thisfaggotcatfish -2 points-1 points ago

Sorry, I have just as much right to be here as you guys attacking the guy who posted the source.

"lol go be sad somewhere else."

No.

[–]PhedreRachelle 0 points1 point ago

How is this obvious plagiarism? Op did not at any point say they made the comic. Their only error was not crediting where it came from. But this being /r/depression, I don't think it's that important. S/he isn't making any money off of it or pretending some study is his/hers. It's relevant, and a good talking point. I provided an explanation for what you implied as a question. So, my bad for providing you with an explanation you wanted

[–]thisfaggotcatfish -1 points0 points ago

And OP isn't the one bitching at the guy citing the original source, it's everyone else. Isn't EVERY opinion supposed to be valid here? Aren't we supposed to talk about how we feel? The feeling that this post brought to the user in question was irritation because it's ripped off from a damn good webcomic. And that should be okay for him to state.

[–]PhedreRachelle 0 points1 point ago

No, opinions that could harm the well being of others are not welcome here. OP tried for some understanding and connection, and the two of you tried to shit all over it because you're strangely concerned with karma

[–]thisfaggotcatfish 1 point2 points ago

All opinions should be welcome, and when have I said anything about karma?

[–]afc7147 -1 points0 points ago

because he's saying that he re-sketched it to get karma. Seen this a bunch of times, prob done by someone else.

[–]thisfaggotcatfish -4 points-3 points ago

It's a ripoff, all the same.

Figure out what you have passion about!

Nothing, because my brain won't let me.

[–]electron105 -1 points0 points ago

This. :(

[–]PhedreRachelle 0 points1 point ago

Yah I thought losing my previous passions was shitty.. Not being able to get them back or find new ones is worse. Like I'm not a person
