Fake. And also inappropriate and decisively unfunny to large portions of any demographic at any given time.

[–]Paralyzing 17 points18 points ago

It's not fake. It's just translated. The original text says "Kommen Sie doch ein bisschen näher." (German)

It's not fake.

Citation needed? I can't seem to find any reference that it's real.

Source: I'm German and I've seen it with my own eyes. Also what berlinbaer posted.

Thanks. I'm really surprised it's real -- mostly, that the metro allowed them to run an ad like that.

[–]Elesh 0 points1 point ago

I would think the ad company who had a contract with the metro is to blame.

Usually, there's an approval process which specifies that all parties get to see every ad before it goes up.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I think this is clever and funny. I mean a little dark sure, but it's German.

[–]CurtR 2 points3 points ago

I mean, it is funny. However, nobody I know has died recently.

I'm just thinking how unfunny I would find that if, say, my buddy died two days before.

That's what I said large portions of any demographic at any given time. Death just isn't funny to people experiencing the effects of it.

[–]WhatABeautifulMess 2 points3 points ago

I guess. To me I didn't associate it with death in general, so I don't see people internalizing it unless their friend/family committed suicide or died in a freak accident but I tend to be insensitive. Honestly from my experience pretty much anything can offend some people when they're grieving. I mean it's not like it's a big secret that you might die if you walk off a train platform. I don't see this as any better/worse than this kind of stuff.

That is fucked up

Wow guys draw a line, it's advertising and has you talking. This is clever and funny and i believe even someone who had a friend die in a subway would not take this as a personal attack.

We know what it's doing/saying. Hell, think of it as a health and safety warning not to come too close or you'll die if it'll make you feel better.

This just seems dangerous and generally unfunny.

[–]Luner 3 points4 points ago

Especially for the people driving trains who actually have to experience this once in a while, and have it on their consciousness.

[–]Cosmologicon 0 points1 point ago

What's the joke, that they're tricking people into coming closer to the sign and getting hit by a train so they have more business? Maybe I'm the only one, but I don't think they were trying for that, assuming it's translated correctly. I think they're talking about coming closer to your departed loved ones, and the placement is just an unfortunate coincidence.

Every time I see this it has moar JPEG.
