Life isn't fair. But it can still be awesome.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points ago

That is a very wise quote my friend

[–]ReyTheRed 9 points10 points ago

Thanks!

Its original. Feel free to use it. Just tell people a wise person on the internet said it.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

will do.

[–]Ins_Weltall 19 points20 points ago

Try having a parent that's the head of a law enforcement department...

Getting caught was nottttt fun...

Not too much to tell, really. I was in high school and living at home. My dad wasn't supposed to be home for another like five hours, so a friend and I started toking up on the back porch. Everything was going great until we saw my dad, in full uniform, walking up to the back sliding door. He grabbed my bong (homemade, nbd) and turned to my friend and uttered "Leave." in way so sternly that I still get chills when I think of him saying it. My friend literally peed her pants a little. He took grinder and lighter and left (to dispose of it. Not smoke it. ;P). A few hours later I got a text from him saying I needed to move out. Luckily my mother intervened (after a teary discussion with me) and said I wasn't moving out. My dad didn't talk to me for like two weeks though.

A little better. It was still an emotionally exhausting 3 or 4 day experience though.

And god no, haha. The only way I could keep my car (title is in their name, but I pay for it) and not get kicked out was by saying it was a one time only experimentation kind of thing. Interestingly enough, when my mom found out, she only seemed worried that someone might have laced it with something. She mentioned that "this whole thing would be different if the weed was grown in our backyard or something."

My ears perked up a little when she said that. Haha.

I guess they sent you right into space.
Oh God that joke sucks.

[–]RuafaolGaiscioch 7 points8 points ago

Seriously...I am twenty four, and if my mom knew that I smoked weed, she would probably call the police on me still. That's the kind of household I grew up in...the other day, I smoked with my girlfriend and her parents. The most surreal moment of my life.

[–]madplayshd 6 points7 points ago

You live such a ridiculously short amount of time with your parents, it really doesnt matter. I can understand that it sucks now, but please do realize that once you have a job you will never have to do what your parents say ever again (or even listen to them). You can even get them out of your life completely if, for some sad reason, this is better for you.

Your life expectancy is somewhat around 80-90 years. So you live 25% of your life with your parents tops. If you substract the years you werent living 'conciously', so from 0 - 12, the bad part of living with your parents is only 10% of your life.

[–]F3RN 4 points5 points ago

I was fully conscious when I was twelve haha

[–]Ins_Weltall 0 points1 point ago

There's an actual study somewhere about how the first twenty years of life feel incredibly long, then the way you experience passing time sort of feels faster toward middle age and later. I'll have to edit with a link if I get around to finding it. It's quite fascinating.

Also, when you're in your teens and living at home, you've never known anything else. And it makes it that much more difficult to bear. Because you've never gotten to taste freedom. You're always being oppressed.

Anne Hathaway is an incredibly beautiful woman.

[–]Piratiko 0 points1 point ago

You know, she's one of those women where I can plainly see that she's gorgeous, I just don't see her in the top 10 or anything like that. The size of her mouth kinda weirds me out.

[–]orangutans 1 point2 points ago

the size of her mouth kinda turns me on

[–]Piratiko 1 point2 points ago

Definitely one of those different strokes for different folks situations. In your case, many, many strokes.

[–]Stutsyboy 0 points1 point ago

She is the kind of woman that you just really want to treat right and stuff, you know?

[–]drewniverse 4 points5 points ago

There's a time and place for everything, and that's college!

[–]MisterKramer 3 points4 points ago

Haha I'm sitting here in my dad's car and smoking a huge blunt with him and my cousin. Cheers!

[–]WhiteTreeOfGondor 4 points5 points ago

Dude, my parent lets me do it, as long as it doesn't affect school, and I don't do it too much. Idk what she thinks is too much, but I'm probably there ;).

Cheers, and toke on brother.

[–]topherotica 2 points3 points ago

Doing drugs with your parents isn't as cool as you think it is.

[–]johnbranflake 2 points3 points ago

Ya, you feel comfortable talking to them about but then they always think you smoke too often and can get annoying.

[–]beast77 1 point2 points ago

My situation right now...

[–]Doilyn 2 points3 points ago

Life isn't fair. This is a fundamental fact of life, and one that is often taught to us repeatedly as children. Yet, despite being inevitable, I can't help but think that "life isn't fair" is just an excuse: an excuse for lazy parenting; an excuse to ignore the things wrong with the world; an excuse to pretend you can't change anything.

Yes, life isn't fair, but shouldn't that mean that we strive to make it fair? For each of us to do our part to make this world a more fair and kind place to live? I think so.

[–]ojosrojos 6 points7 points ago

Love. And Other Drugs. Great movie

[–]Spongedude 1 point2 points ago

That's how I feel whenever my best friend talks about getting stoned with his mom and dad... I can't ever do that

[–]Kevinmfstewart 1 point2 points ago

I get my weed via my dad, it's aweeesome

[–]codytownshend 1 point2 points ago

I can't even describe how jealous I am. My dad used to be an old ent; my mom put her foot down, and now i'm getting drug tested at random intervals. If I ever fail, even once, I get kicked out of the house on the spot. I make $200 a week and this would basically ruin me. Good god I want to smoke weed so bad... it's been about a month and a half now.

[–]1qw 7 points8 points ago

move out

[–]tophatjohnson 1 point2 points ago

the cool thing is, when we all become parents, we will be the cool ones

[–]mus1c 1 point2 points ago

Yea you say that now, but when your mom is chiefing the whole fucking J it can be pretty annoying

[–]MrCrippy 1 point2 points ago

That's it... I'm making the move to r/eldertrees

[–]xerim 0 points1 point ago

This reminds me of my friend who recently got his mom to buy him a really nice vaporizer and helped him get a medical marijuana card because he told her he had headaches. Honestly, its just not fair.

[–]EdricStorm 0 points1 point ago

It's odd...but I can tell she's talking in a British accent by watching her pronounce those words...

[–]barnacleeater 1 point2 points ago

She wasn't though

[–]BeautifulLittleLies 0 points1 point ago

Or she's talking while crying which always makes people pronounce their words differently.

[–]johnbranflake 0 points1 point ago

Last Thanksgiving, Me, two uncles, my dad, my cousins and sister all smoked in the camper while my mom (the only not chill member of my family) and grandmother were making the dinner. Best Thanksgiving ever.

[–]donjordii 0 points1 point ago

my mother is a pot dealer, so i don't have to buy anything =p i get it for free, she doesn't smoke and i smoke all of her profit xD i love her so much!!

[–]Wtgeoff 0 points1 point ago

Just come and hang out with the chill parents, They are usually awesome, i know my dad is :)

[–]waynethetreemayne 0 points1 point ago

Looks more like she's saying "THIS IS FAYGO."

[–]FunCube -1 points0 points ago

Moms been buying me my cigarettes since i was 14. There was a point where it was about a pack a day. Has been buying me my alcohol since i was 16. Now I'm 18 and she agrees that pot Isn't nearly as bad. But refuses to let me do it. Even though i tried giving up alcohol altogether to be strictly green :/

[–]kobe2k 4 points5 points ago

sounds like your mother was trying to be a 'cool' mom, but she draws the line at trees, just like thousands of other parents who are misinformed of the use of cannabis.

[–]Endorp -1 points0 points ago

It's pretty cool having them, though. My dad bought me some weed for my birthday a couple years back.

[–]VelvetJ0nez -2 points-1 points ago

She's got a face like a Stormtrooper's helmet.
