I will never feel comfortable electing someone who fears drinking beer. I can understand trying it and not drinking it because of the taste, but assuming it is devil water is absolutely nuts. Alternatively, I would never elect someone with an alcohol problem unless they were to institute "free beer fridays".

Beer is one thing, but wearing a temple garment underwear at all times and thinking it has magical powers is another.

[–]achubbo 3 points4 points ago

Indeed. If I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting down and having a conversation with the president, I feel like he or she (if we are feeling adventurous), shouldn't be in office. And the thing with Mitt is, he gives me the same feeling that a 13 year old teenager does. Its his naivete and lack of understanding that makes him such an awkward person, or his "I will kill you in your sleep" smile. Fuck it, I'm voting Nader 2012.

I want my president to be a scary smart motherfucker, the kind of person you are mentally intimidated by. The sort of person who makes a billionaire CEO feel like an unprepared schoolkid called in front of the principal. I don't care if "I would like to have a beer with them." I care that they are qualified, logical, even tempered, intelligent, curious, and excellent. Unfortunately, most of those people lack the desire to be anywhere near the toxic clusterfuck of politics.

If I wore crazy underwear to work because I believe it keeps me from putting bugs in my code I'd be laughed out of the office. And rightfully so! But when a religious person does it because allegedly a sky fairy told them to do it it's off limts to poke fun at the person.

I like poking fun at Mormons as much as the next guy, but are temple garments any more ridiculous than talking snakes, two of every species on a single ship, or someone coming back from the dead 3 days after they're crucified?

[–]PinkFlute 0 points1 point ago

The other examples are beliefs, while wearing magic underwear is an action. All are ridiculous though.

I'm just going to leave a link to Jim Jeffries here:

I thought W. was a recovering alcoholic among other things. If he ever did 12 step (which I think he did) that's all about replacing an addiction with religion making beer 'evil' in his context.

Internally originated self control is a trait I value in a president and I don't see Mitt Romney ever really having an opportunity to develop those skills considering his restrictive religion and life of extreme wealth.

"I like being able to fire people who provide services for me."

Sure fooled me on that one. But you know what they say:

"Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice ... you can't get fooled again."

[–]Hubbell -3 points-2 points ago

So if someone is providing you a service, and they do an absolutely shit job, you wouldn't like to be able to fire them?

[–]JoeLiar 2 points3 points ago

Its not the firing that's being discussed. Its the delight and joy taken in firing some one because they provide a service. That is the quote, you know.

[–]JoeLiar 2 points3 points ago

You're right. I forgot, corporations are people.

edit: your*

[–]Hubbell -1 points0 points ago

You're* And good job having the attention span of a gnat.

[–]JoeLiar 0 points1 point ago

As previously stated, the class of all Corporations are a subset of the class of People. Therefore some members of People exist in the class of Corporations, thus allowing the quote. My statement is to say this was forgotten in the heat of debate.

I do humbly apologize and thank the Right Honorable Member for his righteous criticism and praise his attention to detail.

[–]classicaliberal -1 points0 points ago

No, because according to the way some people think, you shouldn't be able to fire anyone for almost any reason at all. For some twisted reason, even if they do a half-baked job, it would be "vampire capitalism" to actually fire someone if they're not doing the job you hired them to do.

[–]eats_shit_and_dies 3 points4 points ago

fucking troglodytes

[–]classicaliberal 0 points1 point ago

Now that's what I call reaching out to the other side.

[–]Hraesvelg7 0 points1 point ago

Wow, Mr. Burns comes off as more kind-hearted and rational than Romney.

Nope. 8 and 14 are both on dark.

[–]Ra__ 0 points1 point ago

Easy quiz. I remember hearing them all.

[–]CunningDroid -2 points-1 points ago

Mrs. My husband is annoying orange.

[–]caustic260 -1 points0 points ago

This old pile of shit? This is propaganda designed to take the more absurd things said by Romney and use them to make him look like more of an ass than Burns.

If you want to make someone look bad, you show everyone the guy's political record, you wouldn't need to do much to make Romney look bad with that. You don't take things the nimrod said and put it against a cartoon character. Mad doesn't have any real business in politics.
