Take me to this bug-less paradise. I'd never leave.

[–]jcsickz 7 points8 points ago

Bug spray turns everywhere into a bug-less area. Not a paradise per se, just an area.

I have to say that I don't mind the mosquito bites or the ants crawling on me...it's the buzzing around my ears that drives me insane. I wear bug spray in the garden with A LOT of deet, yet there are always little buggers flying around my ears! I wear a bandana around my ears and sweat and sweat just because I can't stand the idiot things.

First thing I thought about when I saw it. The mosquito bites on my ankles from 4 days ago started itching.

[–]fiish 20 points21 points ago

Australian here. First thing that comes to mind with they photo is 'ant bites'. And fuckloads of them by the end of the movie. And if it's not ants then something else. I'd want a futon or something with legs. :) Otherwise the shot is beautiful.

[–]enektyk 30 points31 points ago

Jesus, you Australians can't even enjoy a nice lie in the grass!

[–]jaavaaguru 16 points17 points ago

Ants? Dude, it's under a tree. I'd be more worried about the drop bears.

[–]Vultatio 3 points4 points ago

american here. what the fuck is a drop bear? Because it sounds terrifying.

Wikipedia lies...says it's fictitious.

Wikipedia lied.

My first thought was stuff like this looks pretty cool, but the spiders and the bugs that would move into those chairs... No thanks.

[–]JoeSki42 13 points14 points ago

Have you guys never had a picnic or done anything else in the grass while laying down? Bugs really aren't THAT big of a deal. I live in Florida (which has a reputation for bugs) and we have movies out on the grass quite frequently and in quite a few areas. I've yet to see this being a problem.

And as for the particular seating in this picture, well, I imagine they'd be easy enough to move back indoors once you're done with them outside. It's nice to have a blanket or a few cushions to be used primarily for outdoor purposes.

This looks SO awesome! What a great idea for a party or something. Though I have to agree with the others about the bugs if this were set up long term. However, not living in a humid or otherwise tropical climate myself, I don't really worry so much about those things. I simply don't have a yard at all right now otherwise I'd be heading to Cost Plus to try to get things to set this idea up right now. SUPER cool. Thanks for posting!

Bring a girl there and you win. (at life)

[–]fjlwood 17 points18 points ago

The lonely is strong with this one

[–]Sypherin 0 points1 point ago

It is true. Not forever alone I hope :)

[–]max_damage78 3 points4 points ago

Step one: turn off the computer. ;)

[–]Sypherin 6 points7 points ago

And go outside? It's dangerous out there.

[–]alien005 1 point2 points ago

what are those types of "chairs" called?

[–]dropkickpuppy 2 points3 points ago

They're just propped up cushions.

[–]kuvter 0 points1 point ago

They look like shiki futons (Japanese futon mattresses).

[–]nerdstokeuptoo 1 point2 points ago

That is a better room than any I have ever been in.

[–]hmmmburger 1 point2 points ago

This looks like a giant pain in the grass

[–]MisterWonka 1 point2 points ago

Way too much light to be watching a projection screen!

[–]bravo_sierra 1 point2 points ago

[–]kuvter 4 points5 points ago

I'm not in any super popular subreddits so /r/pics has never been visited and so this is new to me. I don't care about karma, but I do care about the quality of a subreddit and this adds to the quality.

[–]max_damage78 -1 points0 points ago

That's how you get post karma though. Find a nice pic, wait a week and post it again.

I've seen that room with the garage door like window, open to capture the view, on the front page of roomporn and pics 6 times since January. Each time from a different poster and each time with over 1000 upvotes.

[–]sventyfour 0 points1 point ago

I guess its a silent movie? (no speakers)

[–]lumaco 0 points1 point ago

As someone who uses a projector every day I feel obligated to point out that this sucks. Basically any light at all will ruin the picture. And then to put lights just above the screen? It would be fine to perhaps put them a few feet behind the screen since there won't ever be pitch black outdoors anyways (not here in Scandinavia anyhow).

I did upvote it anyhow since it looks cozy and I wouldn't mind doing something like this myself.

Must suck when it rains... but I'm sure their butler can handle it.

[–]kenfroberts 0 points1 point ago

I need to be in that picture.

[–]electricmice 0 points1 point ago

enjoy all the bugs biting you at night when you try to watch a movie.
