Seeing an Alaska plate, in Hawai'i..... THAT was confusing.

[–]corgan_burger 5 points6 points ago

Why is that weird? My map shows Alaska right next to Hawaii.

[–]BornOnFeb2nd 1 point2 points ago

Still have to ship it by boat. :)

[–]XmockdefenseX 4 points5 points ago

Military?

[–]SPACE_LAWYER -1 points0 points ago

Cg

[–]SpringInJapan 1 point2 points ago

From my understanding, its rather common (in some areas of Alaska) to move to Hawai'i during the winter, and go back to Alaska during the summer.

Great, now I can't sleep.

[–]OhGodAli 3 points4 points ago

I...I don't get it

[–]BornOnFeb2nd 10 points11 points ago

I've lived in Michigan for the last year.

~ 10hrs away

Somewhere in Tennessee we saw a car with Fulton County plates- our destination.

Fulton County, GA.

mom of kid's best friend.

Doesn't specify, presumes to be from Michigan.

So I pull out the phone and instruct kid to call her. No answer. But she calls back about 10 minutes later- from her kitchen.

All hail the pod people!

[–]ANAL_QUEEN 8 points9 points ago

It wasn't her.

[–]OhGodAli 0 points1 point ago

I get that but how was she in the kitchen of they were in the car? What if the kid called the wrong woman?

[–]Imsecretlyfapping 2 points3 points ago

She wasn't in the car. She was in the kitchen. The lady they saw in the car wasn't her. Edit: Also, the kid called the right woman because she called him back.

[–]crabber338 1 point2 points ago

Obviously she was related to Pope Cyril VI

[–]SPACE_LAWYER 1 point2 points ago

I once ran into my next door neighbor in tel Aviv, then a few months later at sundance. So weird - we lived in sandy springs ga at the time

[–]HoovHoovie -4 points-3 points ago

Obviously the woman would be in the kitchen! Where else would you expect her to be?

[–]TrepanationBy45 0 points1 point ago

Downvoted for predictability. Good jokes are about the subtlety.

[–]AmazingRealist 57 points58 points ago

Yesterday I was sitting in the backseat in our car driving down the E18 (Swedish motorway) when i saw a big SUV with a plate i didn't recognize, came closer and it turned out the be a Florida plate. Also the car had Navy seal written on it. What the hell was it doing here in Sweden?

[–]leftsideofthelane 181 points182 points ago

Protecting your freedom, obviously.

[–]wheres_the_clitoris 35 points36 points ago

Recruiting seals obviously.

[–]DasBeerBoot 5 points6 points ago

At least not killing them.

[–]HappyBirthmus 9 points10 points ago

Or worse, clubbing them.

[–]ThisIsMikeLitoris 11 points12 points ago

So, this seal walks into a club..

[–]ripster55 11 points12 points ago

Warranty void if seal broken.

[–]Bear_ate_pope 0 points1 point ago

Backed by my seal of approval

[–]HipsterHedgehog 1 point2 points ago

Ye need only show the King's seal for approval.

[–]pyahnitsa 16 points17 points ago

I live in Suffolk, UK - we have a few US bases around here. Consequently, we have hundreds of US-registered cars knocking about. It can get really weird sometimes, as all the pick-up trucks and big SUVs don't really fit in with the other traffic.

Maybe there's a base nearby in Sweden?

[–]tim117 8 points9 points ago

Are they normal US cars with the driver's side on the left?

[–]pyahnitsa 10 points11 points ago

Yup, just regular cars straight from the states. Most of them have Texas plates and the little sticker in the windscreen (not sure what it is). After a while here, though, they have to be registered in the UK, so they lose their US plates and gain a set of butt-ugly UK ones.

God damn our numberplates really are ugly.

[–]ckelley87 7 points8 points ago

Those are more than likely the proof of registration and inspection stickers. They get renewed every year.

[–]pyahnitsa 2 points3 points ago

I was always curious about those - thanks :)

[–]red989 1 point2 points ago

In Texas we have registration and inspection stickers. Good chance that they have a tag for their base on there somewhere as well.

[–]BobTheSCV 1 point2 points ago

No US bases in Sweden that I'm aware of. We've gone down the whole neutral route for most of the 20th century.

[–]bleunt 4 points5 points ago

Hillary Clinton was in Sweden this week. Could have had something to do with that.

[–]Octosphere 1 point2 points ago

Searching for oil.

[–]iSmite 3 points4 points ago

That is so true in my country too. I live in India and whenever m out of my state and i see a car from my state, I feel the same way.

[–]jeremyao 14 points15 points ago

King Kong ain't got shit on me!

[–]derptron3000 9 points10 points ago

I was born and raised in Michigan and I have to say that regardless of what state you're in, you will see an insane number of Michigan license plates. I think Michigan's number one export is people.

[–]PrincessDickFart 5 points6 points ago

Because no one wants to be in Michigan.

Seriously, I left 4 years ago, almost my entire class has also moved out of state. Its insane.

[–]Eternalis 2 points3 points ago

I can confirm this. I just graduated in MI and I can't wait to get out

[–]bobthebadguy 4 points5 points ago

what the fuck is we know memes? God damn I hate watermarks.

[–]jambus572 0 points1 point ago

Agreed, who the hell watermarks one of the most popular memes :/

[–]eljefe76 1 point2 points ago

REPOST

[–]LeT-rex 1 point2 points ago

When I am in Florida the number of Canadian plates is just damn right. I feel like I am at home.

[–]DudeAsh 1 point2 points ago

Seeing a Nebraska license plate in L.A. was rather odd for me.

[–]this_sort_of_thing 4 points5 points ago

Yup, when in like France and you see a UK number plate/car with its left hand drive, it's like that.

Or when you see a foreign car with their wacky number plates in the UK with their silly right hand drive, you're like...you don't belong here, you just look silly over here, car.

[–]goodpricefriedrice 2 points3 points ago

Haha, try driving to Australia! The nearest state from us is a 3 day drive. We don't see much variety in licence plates.

[–]BelleDandy 2 points3 points ago

try driving to Australia!<

Challenge accept-glug, glug, glug...

[–]4rch 1 point2 points ago

And the nearest drive to another country is pretty hard unless you pay a couple hundred for the private underground Australia-New Zealand tunnel.

[–]goodpricefriedrice 0 points1 point ago

Ahhh yes. But the Sydney>Auckland tunnel is still cheaper than the Perth>Singapore Gotta work for a mining company to afford that fare!

[–]french_guy_al 3 points4 points ago

What's better is on holiday in another country, where no one speaks the language, and pulling up alongside fellow people from your country. It's like being in a special club, with a secret language.

[–]taboo007 2 points3 points ago

I'm from Michigan and routinely go see my relatives in Ohio. Whenever I see a Michigan license plate they either cut me off or are going 50 mph in a 70 mph zone. Insert Pure Michigan advertisement music here

[–]BornOnFeb2nd 5 points6 points ago

Ah, Michigan.... Where you'll be passed on the right for only doing 20mph over.

[–]Lord-Longbottom 6 points7 points ago

(For us English aristocrats, I leave you this 50 mph -> 134400.0 Furlongs/Fortnight, 70 mph -> 188160.0 Furlongs/Fortnight) - Pip pip cheerio chaps!

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points ago

You're in Urban Meyer country now

[–]meee_owth 4 points5 points ago

License

[–]nxuul 1 point2 points ago

American here. Mine has "license " written on it. Just a difference of spelling.

[–]Sisaac 0 points1 point ago

Look closer. It's written in french.

[–]nxuul 0 points1 point ago

So it is.

[–]Thats-Awkward 0 points1 point ago

I'm American...

[–]meee_owth -1 points0 points ago

I'm afraid of Americans

[–]neotopian 0 points1 point ago

[–]grand_marquis 1 point2 points ago

"that's right!"

[–]ArcticBro 1 point2 points ago

Anyone else watch this on IFC the other night?

[–]emilsmith 1 point2 points ago

Well thats not a repost at all.

[–]smashinpapas 0 points1 point ago

Texan here...Nope.

[–]yyx9 0 points1 point ago

Original, funny, looked it again and again still funny, 5/5.

[–][deleted] ago

[–]SPACE_LAWYER 0 points1 point ago

There are literally millions of people from texas

[–]learn2die101 0 points1 point ago

This can be said for most states really...

[–]neuromonkey 0 points1 point ago

This post made my day. Just fantastic. Really great. Awesome. You go, girl.

[–]7om 0 points1 point ago

I'm from the UK and feel the exact same way when driving on the continent.

[–]PsycoMonkey42 0 points1 point ago

XD It's true! I'm from Illinois and was visiting Calgary, Alberta one year. While at the Chinook Centre mall I spotted a car with Illinois plates. I had an "Awwww Yeaaaah!" reaction.

[–]DickBaggins 0 points1 point ago

oh lol. this is how i feel when i go somewhere and see humans. You fucking simpleton.

[–]conti208 0 points1 point ago

i'm from ohio and i live in massachusetts and my friends stereotype me and ohio people as being overly nice. i was driving in a mall parking garage the other day in boston, and on my way out this car is pulling out of a spot. they stop mid pull out and start pointing emphatically at me through the windshield. i was all confused for a few seconds then i look down and see they have ohio plates and were pointing at my ohio plates. they pulled over next to my car and we chatted with each other for a couple minutes.

[–]beavisnbutthead 0 points1 point ago

does anyone know which movie that's from?

[–]girldelvov 0 points1 point ago

Believe its Training Day

[–]Oorangelazarus 0 points1 point ago

After getting very judgmental looks from Californians at my Louisiana plate last week, I saw one lone fellow swamp dweller around Santa Monica. We gave each other the silent nod of approval.

[–]vanetti 0 points1 point ago

I feel that way living in a different state than the one I grew up in and seeing my home state's plates here.

[–]Canitrollyou 0 points1 point ago

Cool repost bre

[–]a_park_bench 0 points1 point ago

I moved from Washington State to Florida, so across the entire continental US. Get here, go house-shopping for a week or so, end up liking this one apartment. Move in...find out there's an SUV here with Washington plates. It never moves, though, so I'm still not sure who it belongs to.

When I first saw the plates, I thought I was hallucinating. No way someone else from Washington would live in the same place, right? Not to mention, we moved here cause my gf is in the Air Force and got stationed here...found out the guy that lives in the apartment below us is in the same squad. Life is pretty crazy.

[–]friedriceb0y 0 points1 point ago

This is just a repost with the exact same title. Some people just whore karma so hard

[–]uhuya 0 points1 point ago

Repost.

[–]statusone 0 points1 point ago

Shit, I am an Ontarion and I went to Buffalo to shoot shit, when I drove past a shopping outlet EVERY SINGLE FUCKING plate was from Ontario. I was like "fuck this shit, I'm out"

[–]psychroclasm 0 points1 point ago

Same here, but then I remember I'm from Georgia.

[–]The_Spaceman 0 points1 point ago

I always found Georgia plates to be fun, they have all specific town written on each one!

[–]MouseWithTheOverbite 1 point2 points ago

That's actually the county.

[–]The_Spaceman 0 points1 point ago

Oh, I didn't know that. I remember seeing one that said Athens when I visited though.

[–]psychroclasm 0 points1 point ago

I never understood that. I thought it was for county identification, so they could tell where they should tax you, but they have the "Protect our Wildlife", "God Bless America," etc. now. Maybe it was like that, and something changed.

[–]bleunt 0 points1 point ago

Wow. Not only a repost, but with pretty much the exact same title. Impressive.

[–]ImJango -1 points0 points ago

What is this from?

[–]lemmereddit 7 points8 points ago

Training Day I think.

Denzel is one awesome actor. Plays a great bad guy.

[–]AgentCC 1 point2 points ago

You are correct on both counts.

[–]Not_Me_But_A_Friend -1 points0 points ago

Repost, only the title is different.

[–]pipes_ 1 point2 points ago

the title ain't even different mah nigger, that's what makes this some meta ass shit

[–]wouldgillettemby -1 points0 points ago

I was driving in Minnesota with my New York license plates a few months ago. A guy rolled down his window at a stoplight to ask me what part of NY I'm from. Turns out the guy was from the Bronx.

[–]sanchezson21 -2 points-1 points ago

I work at a mental institution and have to do that every month. Your GIF is an understatement haha

[–]jambus572 1 point2 points ago

Huh?

[–]Tooch10 -1 points0 points ago

I saw Hawaii in New York near the Catskills at rest area...twice in two years at the same rest area. I also saw Hawaii (different car) in PA on I-84. These are rear Hawaii registered plates, not novelty front plates.

[–]Eff_Tee -1 points0 points ago

Keep it in /r/reactiongifs tool.
